Bored of the Rings Episode 3 - 11-29-2005, 07:16 PM

Bored of the Rings, Episode 3: Elwood Has You

w00. At last, the third episode of my Lord of the Rings parody.

The Story So Far...

In the dark ages of Lower Middle earth, Sorhed, the evil lord created a ring. An evil ring.

It was during a battle that Sorhed got his finger cut off, this stroke killed him (for some reason <_>) and the ring was lost for centuries...until a nice little boggit found it.

His name was Smallgull, and the ring twisted him, until one day the ring slipped off his finger aswell. It was then that Bimbo found it, during his "adventures" (It was mostly a booze fueled hallucination) with the dwarfs.

The ring lay with Bimbo for years and years until his 111th birthday. When he gave it to his Nephew Fido.

It was around this time that Goodgulf the Wizard discovered the Rings dark properties. And thus an adventure began to destroy the ring.

Up to this point Goodgulf had gone missing (He was atop Jarruman the Nurses tower) and Fido, Spam, Jerry and Plippin' had to adventure alone. Until the town of Whee where they met Arrowcorn.

Jerry had gone outside for a breath of fresh air and then...

Reviews...m'yes

Peter: You ARE Goodgulf now. How can I review you? lol. Brilliant as always.

Ariadyne: You've had so few lines since the prologue, but still your great . Well done.

Jamie: As good a Bimbo as Alex ever was (and thats saying something )

Andy: When i was thinking of what to say the phrase "For a ten year old" kept popping up. But you still did a damn good job, regardless of your age . Very well done!

Seth: In the same way that i heard Peter and thought "Whoa, Goodgulfness" i heard you and thought "Whoa...GAMEY!". I can't wait to hear more from Gamey and you've very much made the character yours.

Ben: Very good. Its difficult to comment really as Bormee hasn't really had too many lines yet. So he's a womanising creep, but hey, theres gotta be more then that. I'm sure i'll be saying how perfect you are as Bormee come the release of Episode 4

Danielle: Great. There was some noise on your lines but your acting made up for that.

Re: Bored of the Rings Episode 3 - 11-29-2005, 08:53 PM

Ummmm where to start, i don't know, in the words of Skank in The Crow - I feel like a little worm on a big effing hook.
I have been trying to sharpen my listening and reviewing skills recently, im finding it hard. I know a big portion of this site is along the lines of anime and manga type things, of which i have to admit i know nothing. I dont even know what the difference is between those 2 or what seperates them from alot of other things here. All i know is that they mostly contain names i look at and think hmmm i'll never be able to say that without 4 million takes (as normal everyday words take 3 million or so )

Now here i am presented with the challenge of actually reviewing something i was part of, and a small part, feeling completely out of my league having heard the other people who were involved, i can only imagine this sensation is similar to going to sleep then waking up naked in a packed shopping centre/mall .....seem to be getting that feeling alot lately on these boards lol.
Anyway i shall try my best,

Andrea, get the close personal one out of the way first. I have to say listening to you do your lines is much like listening to my own, due to being used to your voice i dont always see the inflections blatantly, or maybe im too critical. Having said that after listening to the finished project you did really well, especially the last minute line, that at the time i thought you might have read too much into it and said wrong, but in fact it was me that had it wrong.

Peter Odlaug: Simply wow, when i first heard you as goodgulf i thought it might be quite painful doing a voice like that, unless you happened to be about 50 and called Ian Mckellan , then i heard your normal voice on the normal voice thread if that wasnt enough the life you bring to the character is brilliant.

Ariadyne Morlock: only a small part in this episode, but much as before when doing gladwheel excellent delivery, and i cant wait for future episodes to see how your character grows under your influence

Seth Adam Sher: Brilliantly played part, you seem to have captured the essence of the "other" character really well, its easy to forget this is a parody when listening to your parts, much like goodgulf only the dialogue itself betrays the illusion, although betray sounds like a negative word but in this case its a good thing, grumpy yet cuddley at the same time.

Ben Harmer: I love the unique style you bring to your character, the classic hero clique exposed to the full, again only a smallish part this time and i cant wait to hear more in future episodes.

Danielle Mcrae: Again another small part, but brilliantly done all the same, as mat said a slight difference/noise in the recording distracted slightly, but your delivery was done so well it didnt distract too much.

Mat: I still love the way you do so many characters at once but still manage to keep them distinct enough so it isnt any struggle to keep track of who is speaking. Then bringing through the seperate characters individual traits aswell.
Which then leads onto the writing and mixing i guess, you have so many ideas and so much enthusiasm i think you have the ability to go as far as you wish in anything you choose to put your mind to. Your mixing is getting better and better and i really cant find any fault in this (except perhaps bimbo's song was a bit loud ...but that may just be my aversion to my own voice heh) The music level was loud enough to keep its presence and generate the overall mood, but it didnt seem too much at any point to compromise the actors and actresses (or is it more politically correct to say acting people these days ?)

If i were to nitpick, i would say i would have liked more emphasis on elwoods lines at the end where he declared the group the fellowship of the ring, but as i said it would be simply nitpicking .

Thankyou for letting me be a part of this and your kind words of critique.
Im not sure i will ever get used to the talent that comes from the people involved in these radioplays, and i feel very out of place trying to deliver my opinion of people who have alot more skill and experience at this craft than me, i know i keep saying this, probably way too much lol maybe eventually i wont feel so uncomfortable .

Anyway im now off to see if i cant find a kind shark to get me off this darn hook

Evil Ash: Oh, you wanna know? 'Cause the answer's easy! I'm BAD Ash... and you're GOOD Ash! You're a goody little two-shoes! Little goody two-shoes! Little goody two-shoes! [begins to sucker-punch Ash]
Evil Ash: Goody little TWO-SHOES! Goody little TWO-SHOES! HEHEHEHE! [honk honk honk]
Evil Ash: GOODY LITTLE TWO-SHOES! GOODY LITTLE...
Ash: [cocks shotgun and points it under Evil Ash's nose]
Ash: [BANG!] I ain't that good.

WOW! That was great listening to!^__^

Here's my review-

Matt: Man,all I have to say is...WOW!!!! You've done an absolutely stunning job with all of the characters!! I was completely blown away by your coolness!

Peter: You did a great, awesome job voicing Goodgulf.I was absolutely impressed by your performance!^^

Ariadyne: Lovely performance!^^ Even though you had a few lines, you really put on a beautiful performance! Great job!

Jamie: Your Bimbo rocks!!!!^___^

Andy: I really liked your voice alot. Very expressive and another impressive performance!

Seth: Damn, that was good!!!

Ben: Great! Even though you didn't have that many lines your permance was really good.^^

Danielle-Sorry for the background noise in some of my clips Matt.=(
My room was really noisy at the time. But thank you very muchly for the comments Matt and Cosmo, it's very much appreciated! I had alot of fun with this!^^

As for the mixing, you've done a really good job. The only problem I had with this clip was my noisy clips, but I don't blame you for those.^^All in all this was a joy to listen to, I can't wait to hear part 4!

The great thing about Bored of the Rings for the cast is if you don't like something the first time round you know there'll be a special edition 6 or 7 months down the road

Like i said, that background noise didn't matter much to me. But if it does bother you you can just redo your lines for the special edition

Mhahahaha...
