Hikari: The Beginning -

Hikari
Yay it's done, sorry this took so long to get out, but i've had a lot of computer problems, I almost lost everything, but thankfully I was so unfortunate. I also appreciate how hard producers work on radioplays now, the amounts of time I altered things, changed music, added sound effects...anyway here it is...
Hikari (putfile)
Thanks to Koshiba for hosting Hikari here

Final Fantasy X-2 OST

NNN (Nori ni Notteiru Numiso) by Meg Rock
SFX: sounddogs.com
Mixed, scripted and copyrighted by Meekolli
I think that the script feels kinda rushed, shows the difference between how it looks on paper and how it is acted, but I'm pretty happy with the mixing as this is my first radioplay.
I'll get to character reviews later, but good job everyone and thanks so much for taking part.

OK review time
Meekolli/GenesisAvalon: I think you did really well, you pulled her off well and didn't make her too likeable, but didn't make her hateable either. You made her human, which is nice, and easier to relate too. It was refreshing considering the characters around you are so...well weird XD Some of your original lines had a funny bg noise which was hard to get rid of, it sounded like running water O.o Anyway nice portrayal, I can't wait to see how you portray Meekozilla (an extremly angry Meeko)
Bii/Rasha: The pitch and tone are really nice for Bii, however I felt that you were holding back sometimes. Don't be afraid to go completely crazy, Bii's that sort of character.
Shin/asw: I again really like your voice for Shin. Some of your sarcastic lines could have been dragged out more and said slower as in some of those lines I felt you weren't sarcastic enough. Your awkward moment at the end was very nicely done though. Well done
Kaori/Nog-chan: Cute voice. Could do with sounding even spacier then it already is. I know this was your first time acting in a production so well done for a first time.
Voice/AKira/Edwyn: You were great. Your voice for...um voice sounded wise and ominous. I loved it. And your Akira was perfect. He was "cool", mysterious and perverted and that is his exact character at this point. I love the little laugh as well, really brought out his perversion. Your voice is the hawtness.
Stepmother/Aurianna: One line, but you were French. Evil and stuck up too, nice job.
Stepsister/Rockon: You little brat XD Well done.
Teacher 1: Again even though it was one line it was good. Nice fainting sound.
Teacher 2: Your audition actually changed my mind about the type of voice I wanted for Teacher 2. I love how he sounds fed up, and he's so into a routine. You were so a history teacher (despite the fact I love History) Obviously use to Miss Kendo's late problem by now. Good job on the one line.
Students: I love you all.
On a small note there was a problem with pronunciation of Meeko's full name. This is my fault as I wrote the original pronunciation wrong, hence why I didn't ask you to re-record those lines. For future reference it's Me-coal-lie, sorry about that.

Hehe, thanks, you're way too kind. Even with one line, I was afraid I was going to sort of screw up the flow of your production, but I'm glad it wasn't too jarring and it turned out so well.

I do like the music you chose it fitted the scenes very well, I especially liked the wind sound effect after the "is space really that spacey?" comment... tumbleweed moment!!!
I liked everyones voice they managed to make the characters believable even though they are over the top in insaneness!! (does that make sense? it makes sense to me)
I liked Bii, she was crazy but had the believability that she was smart.
and I liked Akira's voice, he portrayed Akira's personality well, he's the mysterious pervert. I think all the voices were good in fact. However those two stole the show for me.
Myself, well XD

Meep! Meekoli! I really enjoyed this a lot. There's no way it can be set up for download, is there? I always like having a copy of all the finished stuff I've gotten a chance to work in. But that's neither here nor there.
I think you did a great job with mixing. The sound quality was really good and clear. Good music choice (and good music volume).
I want to say more about the project and the cast, but I have to write a paper right now. So more later.
boooooooooo paper.

Ah I didn't put a download one on cause I was arguing with all the upload places I knew that day, well not literally but all of them were like, "No we don't wanna work for you."
Then I remembered putfile. Don't worry I'll go to megaupload now. I just hope it works this time.
EDIT: Ok Megaupload link up

This was really nicely done! Good sound effects and bgm placement, and the cast sounded great. The volume on Meekolli's monologues could've been louder- I felt her voice got a little drowned out by the music sometimes. Regarding the script, I could've done with a few more mentions of the characters' names in the dialogue, because I had trouble keeping track of who was speaking sometimes. Also, the transitions from place to place were a little vague on occasion. Remember that nobody knows your characters and script as well as you do, and because this isn't a visual production, you need to frequently remind the audience who's speaking and where they are. Anyway, overall, a really smooth production!
Cast review!
Edwyn - awesome as always. You have such a rich voice. I really liked your opening narration. And your "oh yeeeeeahh" line. Heh!
Rasha - I finally got to hear you! I see you all over the boards and we seem to get cast in the same productions often, but I had never actually heard you! You sound just like I pictured- a very cute, energetic, distinctive voice. Your enunciation is really good, and you gave a great performance here!
Genesis Avalon - Your performance was really believeable. Your pacing in the monologues was perfect, very conversational. Great job!
asw - Very nice! You have a really smooth voice and your performance was very sincere.
Nog-chan - Cute. You sounded quite comfortable in this role!
Charil - Totally perfect teacherish voice.
Aurianna, Rockon, and Brandon - Small parts, but you all sounded great! Would like to hear more!

Ooooh.... Very nice. Is this your first mix? If so, very well done! It was a very efficient mix that kept the story moving at a nice consistent pace. I love how you managed to capture a little bit of that "anime" feel and encapsulated it into audio. Good use of overlapping dialogue to create crowd scenes and chaos, too.
Unfortunately, this "anime"esque feeling does make some sequences feel that they should be accompanied by visuals but errrr.... Aren't. Like when Meekolli is referring to her friends sitting in front of her, at that moment I can almost SEE that Meekolli is supposed to snap out of her dreamstate thinking of her mother and the camera pans over to her friends. Something like that. Anyway, most of it isn't extremely detrimental to the episode, it's just that it currently feels scripted towards an audiovisual medium rather than a purely audio one (like Allison mentioned).
I think everyone on the cast did a good job of contributing to the mood of the piece. Except for that Edwyn fella. He just ruins everything. XD In any case, great job all around!
