Cool, cool! Nice to see some of it out!
I thought this part was very well mixed. The SFX used when Light realized something was wrong (when he touched his door handle) sounded a little off. But I guess that's just me.
Blade and Jefferz, great performances but I thought some of your words could've been pronounced better.
Russ, your old man voice is pretty convincing. Good stuff.
Para_Bolic, your L sounded different from what I had in mind, although it worked pretty well. Nice job.
Takahata, your Ryuk voice was awesome. Some awesome work with your vocal texture. Keep it up ^^
Antfish, your performance was also spot on. I liked the scene where Soichiro agrees to install wiretaps in his home.
BlueSentaiHero, you sound just like the original VA (his name escapes my head at this moment). Nice performance, I can't really pick out anything wrong here.
As a whole it was just as enjoyable to watch as I would with the original. Can't wait to see the rest ^^

My favorite voice in this was definitely Takahata. Even though at parts his voice sounded a bit forced, and started cracking.
I'll give a fuller critique later

BladeBlur: For the most part you did a good job, there were a few iffy parts, but great for most of it. It was nice to hear a voice that is a completely different kind from the dub.
Para_bolic: Your tone's a lot like Alessandro Juliani, which is a good thing. But, it's also good that you gave L a brand new voice in the process.
Jefferz: Pretty much, the same as the critique for BladeBlur.
Antfish: It's very different that what I'm used to, but it still sounded great. I don't know why but it reminded me of TeamDattebayo's Soichiro voice.
Russ: Agreeing with McTricky.
takahata101: Very well done, as a fellow Ryuk voicer, I'm one of the few who knows that, it's in no way easy to voice Ryuk. Gotta give you props, man. There were a few parts that could've been better, but I have a feeling this was your first attempt at Ryuk.
BlueSentaiHero: Very well done, actually it reminded me more of the Japanese voice, than the English voice. No complaints from me.
Mixing: Felt natural, nothing really seemed out-of-place to me.

BladeBlur - For the most part, pretty good BB! There were areas in which I thought you were overacting a bit, but it's good to hear you again!
Para_bolic - Gah! Whoa! Thought I was watching the official dub there for a moment! Something great that you did was that you were very consistant in your tone and mannerisms. Not once did it feel like you were out of character. Awesome.
Jefferz - Some of your words came off a little awkard, like the way you said "eleven," but if we're talking strictly emotion then you did a very good job. You have a great voice for characters like Matsuda!
Antfish - It's good to see you do more serious rolls, Antfish! There were some areas at the end where I thought you were talking too fast, though that could just be to fit the lip flaps. I do think you did a very good job!
Russ - I've heard you only a few times but I've always thought you had a very unique voice. You are able to pull off old guys that aren't low and gruff, without sounding like you're trying. Very natural performance!
takahata101 - Ryuk must be fun to voice, lol. Anyways you were fantastic in your roll, although at the end it seemed like your voice was getting tired. Great, nonetheless!
BlueSentaiHero - Veerrrrry nice! It was on par with the official dub (which I enjoy btw). I think that you were able to pull off 17 year old Light better though. It seemed that in the dub, Light lost his innocence (for lack of a better word) too soon. While the official dub shined when Light got older, the first half was kinda off. You sounded younger and more pure in Light's convictions (I think I might be getting a little too deep here). Anyways, fantastic job!
Mixing was good too! Great great great great! I really enjoyed this!
This is blank till I decide what I want here lol. --

While I had some fun voicing Light, I won't lie to you all. But playing him was no easy task. Mind you, I'm still working on his lines for the other parts of the episode. Otherwise, I'm glad some of you guys liked it.
I'll be coming up with a critique for each of the voice actors that were in this episode, hopefully soon.
Sentai = literally translates to "task force", "squadron", "group" or "wing" in Japanese. Do not mistaken the word "sentai" for "hentai", or you will be punished in the name of justice! Wait...that sounded evil just now, didn't it? Crap...

This is excellent so far! One thing I thought was that Aizawa sounded a little exaggerated at the beginning, but it wasn't terrible or anything. Anyway, the voices work well and the mixing is great! Ryuk is particularly notable, and I think I prefer this Light to the English dub. L really suits the personality =). I think there were one or two lines where Antfish sounded like he was pushing his range a little to get deep enough for Soichiro or something but again that was minor. Great work guys!
Recent roles:
Walter Dornez: Hellsing OVAs
Reeve: FF7
Auron, Kimahri: FFX
Diz, Xemnas, Auron: Kingdom Hearts

David, Lewis: Blood+ Phantom of the School
King Bradley, Mustang: FMA

I agree, but honestly with you, I have NEVER seen the anime and he is different than stuff I have tackled before so I didn't know what to do. At least I'm glad it got better later on.
Despite my performance, I liked it. para_bolic, nice job all around

Phew! Just finished all my lines for the remainder of Episode 8...
Okay...critique time! I'll try to give my best one, as I never really gave out any kind of critique...
BladeBlur as Aizawa: I'm really digging your performance. It's very believable, especially when you were telling Soichiro that he doesn't have to agree with the idea of surveillance cameras in his household. However there are times when I couldn't understand what you were saying on that very scene. But otherwise BB, you did a good job.
Para_Bolic as L: Your take on L was pretty cool. I'll kinda sound like some of the others that critiqued us. But your tone is very similar to that of the original VA. But at the same time, you made that character your own. And the voice you used, fit the character perfectly. No complaints here.
Jefferz as Matsuda: I would have to say, that your acting was pretty good. I totally bought your performance, and you have a good character voice. But I'll have to agree with BlueShadow on the fact that some words did come off a little awkward. Otherwise, good job!
Antfish as Soichiro Yagami: Oh my friggin GOD!!! I'd have to say man, that your performance as Soichiro was just powerful. Especially when you yelled at Matsuda and Aizawa, telling them to shut up about the whole surveillance camera situation. Right when you said "now I suggest you keep quiet!", I totally felt it. Made me snap to attention and yell "yes sir! Sorry sir!" XD. I don't know if it's just me, but on a few lines I heard some slight P popping and whatnot. But it's nothing too bad. Heck it's hardly noticeable if anything.
Russ as Watari: Personally, I have no complaints about your performance here at all. Older characters are very hard to pull, and you make that look easy. And I'm not saying that to suck up or anything. But yeah, you did great as Watari.
takahata101 as Ryuk: Sounds to me that you were having fun voicing Ryuk. He's a very playful character, and you managed to pull that off with ease. In terms of voice, it's clear that you tried something different with him. Rather than emulating Brian Drummond's take on the character, based on what I'm listening to, you came up with your own version of Ryuk. Only complaint I have is that I heard a slight tapping noise on one of the lines. But that's just a minor problem.
BlueSentaiHero as Light Yagami: Simply put...I am my own worst critic. But I'm glad some of you guys enjoyed my take on Light.
Sentai = literally translates to "task force", "squadron", "group" or "wing" in Japanese. Do not mistaken the word "sentai" for "hentai", or you will be punished in the name of justice! Wait...that sounded evil just now, didn't it? Crap...
