The RAIDEN Saga is a character-driven fantasy drama based on the premise that Magic was a finite resource long since exhausted from the Earth. When chance brings the magically abundant world of Gaia into contact with the Earth, events are set in motion that will change both worlds forever. • You absolutely must have a quality microphone. I intend to hold Raiden to a standard of quality that requires clean audio.
• If you are cast in an important role, you must be available to continue in that role in successive episodes for the forseeable future.
• If you are cast, you will be expected to register on the Official Raiden Forums and use the Official Raiden Forums to retreive each new script and upload your lines.
• A level of patience and maturity will be expected on your part. You will follow the show and check each time a script is published to see if your character is included in that episode, without being reminded. You should also be okay with occasional profanity or sexual subject matter in your lines.
• If you are cast, you must be willing to divulge your real name.
• The episodes of Raiden Saga will NOT be posted on Youtube.
• If a word is not made-up, you should not mispronounce it. Dictionary.com is your friend.

Audition Scene

ZYA paces back and forth, wearing simple borrowed clothes.

ZYA: We call ourselves Ghostwalkers. We travel to the dead world, here, to live in secret and watch. At least, we used to.

ZOEY: You travel here, from where?

ZYA stops in her pacing.

ZYA: Um, well, I'm from a city called Kaeliya, but our world is called Gaia. Anyway, my brother was a Ghostwalker, but half a year ago he went missing. I came to rescue him.

ZOEY: Six months later?

ZYA: It takes that long to make the journey.

ZOEY: Um, forgive me for saying so, but you don't seem like a very effective rescue party. Are any more, um, Gaians, coming?

ZYA: No one else is coming. Ghostwalkers are all volunteer, because we all know that by coming to the dead world our lives are forfeit. I'm acting on my own to save my brother.

ZOEY: Do you know how to find him? What happened to him?

ZYA: We think he was discovered by your government.

ZOEY: How?

ZYA: I don't know, but the most likely scenario is that he was seen performing an evocation or something.

ZOEY: An evocation? Like what?

ZYA: The power forgotten on this world. Um, here, this.

A glimmer of violet flashes in ZYA's eyes, and a chair floats up off the ground. ZOEY stares in surprise.

ZOEY: Whoa. How are you doing that?

ZYA: Technically this is a step below evocation but I assume that any visible effect is enough to convey my point.

ZYA lets the chair settle to the floor again.

ZOEY: Uh, yeah.

ZYA: So can I ask you a question now?

ZOEY: Of course.

ZYA: How did you touch my dreams? That should have been impossible, for anyone of this world.

ZOEY is slightly taken-aback.

ZOEY: I didn't touch... I don't know. I dreamed, I saw you, I don't know why. Or how.

ZOEY looks down and rubs her face. ZYA nods.

ZYA: My brother is being held captive in a subterranean facility somewhere in a region called Nevada. If he hasn't been moved since I embarked, that is.

ZOEY: Wait, he's being held, underground, somewhere in Nevada?

ZYA: I believe so. Why?

ZOEY: You've got to be kidding me. Area Fifty-one?

ZYA: What's Area Fifty-one?

ZOEY - Zoey Tayvia

Female
23 Years Old
After roughly two decades of being an estranged oddball of a girl, Zoey is currently living the good life as the owner of the Blue Nebula Internet Cafe. She's thick skinned and cool-headed, and tends to intimidate. Zoey holds the guiness world record for fastest reflexes in a human. She also has a healthy disrespect for the law.

Voice Type: Rich and smooth. The voice of a singer who doesn't know how to sing. Able to produce a terrifying bestial scream of rage.

ELIEH reclines.

ELIEH: Let's go do something. Nothing like a murder to remind ya life's short. Let's go to the club.

ZOEY chuckles and shakes her head.

ZOEY: Tempting, but I've got Ulduar in half an hour.

ELIEH: Man, you're such a dork.

ZOEY: Says the man with the "Battlemaster" title...

ELIEH: Hey, you don't get to make fun of me for that anymore. It actually got me laid once, remember?

ZOEY: Actually, I'm pretty sure that time it was the chick's extensive drunkenness that got you laid.

ELIEH: She wasn't that drunk... okay maybe a little.

ELIEH laughs at himself a little bit and ZOEY chuckles with him.

ZOEY: (Wryly.) Uh huh.

ELIEH: Alright, I'll see you later.

ZOEY: Go. I'm stuck here anyway. I have to cover Trevor's former shift tonight.

ELIEH heads out ZOEY's door, waving a goodbye. ZOEY slumps a little further in her seat.

RAI - Rai Raiden

25 Years Old
A highly competent man and Zya's brother. Wise for his years and selfless.

RAI begins to stir. His eyes open and he looks around, fixing his gaze on SARAH. For a moment he simply stares at her.

RAI: Merick wins again, it looks like.

SARAH: I'm sorry.

RAI quirks a grin.

RAI: What did I tell you?

SARAH: To stop apologizing to you. I know.

RAI: If you tried to help me they'd only replace you, and I'd suffer the same torments, only at the hand of someone far less compassionate.

SARAH: I know. But it doesn't matter how many times you give me permission. I still feel wretched.

RAI: That's why it needs to be you. Don't let them take you away from me, Sarah.

SARAH touches his hand.

SARAH: I won't.

SARAH - Dr. Sarah Carson

Made central to the saga through no fault of her own, she does her best to live up to both her obligations and her sense of what's right.

MIKE starts walking towards the house, and SONIA follows. MAIRIE comes out of the house, followed by HEATHER. They meet on the walk in front of the house.

HEATHER: Greetings, Sonia. I am Heather. Welcome to my home.

SONIA: Uh, thanks.

HEATHER: Mike. Take the files to the twins.

MIKE nods and heads into the house. Once he's gone, SONIA notices MAIRIE.

SONIA: Hey. I know you. You're my boss' secretary. Former boss.

MAIRIE: Yeah. Hi. I'm so glad you got away okay.

HEATHER: Let's all go inside.

Everybody walks towards the front door. HEATHER ushers SONIA before her.

HEATHER: Come, Sonia. We have much to discuss.

SONIA - Sonia Hastings

Female
31 Years Old
Confronted with realities that shatter her understanding of the universe, she stays collected and never becomes hindered by fear.

Voice Type: Average feminine.
Audition Scene

MIKE ushers SONIA inside and locks the door. MIKE checks the windows and then turns to SONIA. SONIA looks at him expectantly.

MIKE: Do you have the files you took from Black Sun?

SONIA: How do you know about that?

MIKE: That doesn't matter. Do you have them?

SONIA: Yes, on the flash drive in my pocket.

MIKE sags with relief. SONIA, still standing by the door, looks at him expectantly. MIKE turns and heads for the bathroom.

MIKE: There's a first aid kit in here. You should probably let me take a look at you.

SONIA: Forget that. I've been pretty cooperative considering the circumstances, but that stops now until you start explaining some things.

MIKE meets her stare for a moment, then nods.

MIKE: Alright.

SONIA: How did you know what I took?

MIKE: The same way I knew you'd been marked.

SONIA: Which is?

MIKE: (Reluctantly.) Hugh Grable's personal assistant is one of us. She overheard him report to whoever it is he reports to.

SONIA: One of "us"? One of who?

MIKE: I'm not at liberty to say.

KERIA - Keria Voden

Female
26 Years Old
A hired killer who in her own way considers herself a moral person.

Voice Type: Strong and sort of clipped, but young and girlish sounding.
Audition Scene

ZACH is sitting on one of the bar stools facing KERIA who is sitting next to him.

KERIA: So you don't have a girlfriend? No fun. You're way too cute to be single.

ZACH: I'm shy. Or hadn't you noticed.

KERIA: Girls are so lazy. Here you are a sweet flower ready to be plucked and not a one will deign to stoop and grab you. It's criminal.

ZACH looks down at his hands.

ZACH: If you say so. Besides, its hard to tell at first if a flower has thorns.

KERIA: Ah, but who's afraid of a little pain? Babies.

ZACH: Does that mean you were planning to pluck me?

KERIA grins and pulls ZACH up off his stool and kisses him at length.

ZACH: Uh, whoa. I guess I'll take that as a yes.

ELIEH - Elieh Grey

21 Years Old
A nocturnal socialite and a firm believer in all things loud or debaucherous, Elieh was once lothed by Zoey, but became her best friend and partner in crime after she discovered his less shallow true nature.

LANGST - Detective Nicolas Langst

A seasoned, practical man who sees a pattern in the madness that none of the other police and investigators do.

Police congregate around the scene. LANGST ducks under the police tape and joins KATE and GREG at TREVOR's body.

LANGST: What have we got, Kate?

KATE: Single gunshot wound to the head. Death appears to have been instant. Based on the angle of the vic's fall and the blood spray, I concluded that the shot came from that general direction.

KATE points to the narrow alley where KERIA stood the previous night, and where several uniforms are now searching the ground.

LANGST: Do we have any witnesses?

GREG: A couple of residents heard the shot but no one saw a shooter.

LANGST: Bullets or shell casings?

KATE: One bullet, nondescript solid lead. No casings. Not yet, anyway.

GREG: He was identified as Trevor Reynolds, twenty-two years old. He lived just up the path there.

LANGST: Who identified him?

GREG: That would be his girlfriend. Over there.

GREG points to JILL who is sitting on the ground, staring into space.

LANGST: Kate, I want you to to take a look around the vic's apartment.

KATE: Am I looking for anything in particular?

LANGST: I don't know. Maybe.

LANGST turns away from KATE and GREG, heading over to JILL. JILL doesn't acknowledge his approach. LANGST sits down on the ground next to her, and watches her for a few moments without saying anything.

JILL: (To herself.) He was a good man. Why? Why him? He was a good person.

LANGST: Bad things shouldn't happen to good people, but they do. There always is a reason, though. No matter how remote, if you look hard enough, you can always find the reason. That's what I do. I find out why. Your name is Jillian Chaen?

JILL finally nods.

JILL: Jill. Everybody calls me Jill.

LANGST: Alright, Jill. I'm Detective Langst. I'm going to figure out why this happened, for you. Does that sound good?

JILL nods, and LANGST watches her another moment, and when she offers nothing further, he stands up.

MERICK - Merick Stephson

41 Years Old
A driven and ambitious military man who's cleverness has gained him increasingly sensitive positions.

Voice Type: Deep masculine.
Audition Scene

MERICK stands before a large flatscreen with a security display of Rai's holding cell and the hallway outside. PHIL stands behind him. Another screen shows playback footage from the battle.

PHIL: This is his third escape attempt this month. That's what, fourteen total now?

MERICK: Fifteen.

PHIL: He's getting closer, Sir. Even with the security measures we keep adding, each time he gets closer to making it out.

MERICK: Why did he go for the lab, do you think? There are shorter routes out. If he'd doubled back after knocking down Fredrick's squad, he might have actually reached the surface.

PHIL: Diversionary tactic? He took the route he thought you'd expect him not to take.

On the display, SOLDIERS fan out into RAI's cell as he's carried in.

MERICK: Possibly, but I doubt it. No, he was after something else.

PHIL: What could he have been after, do you think?

MERICK: I don't know, but I want all of his possessions moved from the lab and locked up.

On the display, the sunlight simulators switch on, blinding the camera.

JILL - Jillian Chaen

22 Years Old
A college student. Trevor's loving girlfriend.

Voice Type: Slightly higher feminine.
Audition Scene

TREVOR paces in his living room. He takes his phone out and calls JILL.

JILL: Hey there.

TREVOR: Hi Jill. Listen, I can't see you tonight.

JILL: Aw, come on. You promised.

TREVOR: I know. I'm really sorry. Jill, I love you.

JILL: You sound weird, Trevor. What's going on? Why can't I see you?

TREVOR: I'm... leaving. I can't say to where, but I've got to go.

JILL: Leaving? Wait, why? Trevor, talk to me.

TREVOR: I'm sorry, Jill, I can't.

ZACH - Zachary Glover

A gamer geek who spends a lot of time at the Blue Nebula, but may become much more than he is.

KYLE: Are you alright, sis?

JILL glances at him, then off into space again.

KYLE: Sorry. Stupid question.

KYLE settles down in a more comfortable position, then turns toward JILL again.

KYLE: Do you remember what Dad told us when Mom died?

JILL: Not really, no.

KYLE: That we should not mourn, but instead remember and be grateful for how much better off we were for the time we'd had.

JILL: Please stop.

KYLE: Stop what?

JILL: Trying to make me feel better. I don't want to feel better, okay?

KYLE looks at his sister for a moment and then nods.

KYLE: Okay.

CEO of the Black Sun corporation. He has an agenda and you can be sure it is sinister.

HUGH: Can I help you, miss Hastings?

SONIA: I want to know what you've really had me working on for the past two months. I want to know now. And don't feed me your boilerplate bullshit. You put me on Project Sunbeam because I know my shit, and I know that device is not a solar energy collector.

HUGH: You should speak to me with more respect, miss Hastings. If certain details were omitted from your briefing, I'm sure it is because it was decided that they weren't pertinent.

SONIA: (Forced calm.) Listen to me. I know that device up there isn't a solar energy collector. The neutrino beam wasn't even pointed at the sun when it overloaded. This goes beyond omitted details. My ignorance could have cost lives!

HUGH: Your opinions are noted, miss Hastings. I'm sorry that you feel slighted, truly, but I'm going to have to ask you to drop this. If you won't work within your given parameters, you will have to find another job.

MAIRIE - Mairie Malah

Leaks information to Heather's group in her capacity as Hugh's secretary. Great memory but not very assertive.

SONIA: What? Are you sure? Nevermind, I'm on my way.

A few moments later, SONIA comes in and hurries to JENNY. JENNY points at a readout screen.

JENNY: See? There's the rise when the sun came above the horizon but then there are these--

SONIA: Yeah, that's impossible. It has to be a glitch. Check the cables. I'll check the collector.

SONIA goes and kneels down behind the device, and JENNY looks behind the monitoring equipment.

JENNY: This is useless. I can't tell what's what down here.

CELIA - Celia Hothe

27 Years Old
She's a cop. She's badass. She works for Langst.

Voice Type: Average feminine.
Audition Scene

LANGST comes in yawning but alert. CELIA is already present and addressing a group of SWAT captains.

CELIA: Alright. We just received a tip from the NSA about a potential terrorist attack. We're going to group up at the Westlake Center and fan out until we reach the cruisers' perimeter.

SWAT CAPTAIN: What exactly are we looking for?

CELIA: "You'll know it when you see it." Their words, not mine. Dismissed.

The captains all go quickly. CELIA takes a moment to put her hand on her forehead, then turns to LANGST.

CELIA: I don't like this, Sir. It's damn sketchy.

LANGST: I know but it's the way these things go.

ALEX - Alexandria Pearson

17 Years Old
Works at the counter of Zoey's Blue Nebula from 6pm to Midnight.

Voice Type: Average feminine.
Audition Scene

ZOEY: Alex? What are you still doing here?

ALEX hops down off her stool.

ALEX: Trevor's late and I didn't want to leave the place unmanned.

ZOEY: Oh, well thanks for staying. He didn't call in or anything?

ALEX: Nope. Man, I'm still a minor and its after curfew. I'm gonna have to walk home.

ZOEY: Sorry, Alex. I'll pay you for your extra hour, okay?

ALEX: Cool. Thanks Zoey. I gotta go, though. Give Trevor an ass-kicking for me, will ya?

ZOEY: I will. Now get outta here.

ALEX heads for the door, turning to call over her shoulder.

ALEX: See you tomorrow!

PHIL - Philip Tagart

In the narrow alley, PATRICK steps out of an alcove and into ZOEY's path. ZOEY stops and stares at PATRICK while his thugs take up positions around ZOEY, being careful not to touch her.

ZOEY: Hello Patrick. Fancy seeing you here.

PATRICK: Zoey, girl, we've got to stop meeting like this.

ZOEY: The goons are a nice touch. If I didn't know better I'd think you were dangerous.

PATRICK makes an acceding gesture and then walks up to ZOEY.

ZOEY: I need a favor.

PATRICK: The usual?

ZOEY: Yes.

PATRICK: And in exchange?

ZOEY: Also the usual.

PATRICK smiles broadly.

PATRICK: This is why I like you, Zoey. You keep things simple.

PATRICK turns and goes in through a nondescript door and ZOEY follows him.

An empty hallway is suddenly full of running SOLDIERS led by FREDRICK. Ahead around a corner there's gunfire and then several SOLDIERS slam into the adjacent wall, thrown by an unseen force.

FREDRICK: Move in!

Suddenly the light's go out, and a dark shape moves through the SOLDIERS at superhuman speed, knocking them down and knocking their feet out from under them. The light's flicker back, revealing soldiers stunned on the floor.

FREDRICK: Recover!

FREDRICK grabs his radio.

FREDRICK: Sir. The target has penetrated our line and is heading towards your position.

Its up to you but I would prefer the latter. The idea is to pretend its a table reading (you could even get someone you know to read the other side for you).
But doing the separate files .zip thing won't count against you.

Its a convienence thing. For the actual production, very specific formatting is needed, but for just the auditions, it doesn't really matter so I thought I ask for something easier to do.

If anyone wants to put additional effort into the file presentation of their auditions, its fine with me.
