[LGP] Air TV (Newcoming Guitarist Initiation style) -
04-24-2009, 04:04 AM
Legendary Guitar Productions Presents... Air TV
This is the set of four fandub clips featuring me and four voice actresses who are new to the VA game in all types (whether it'd be full-time music composer or a producer who never had a major VA role or even someone who is new in the VAA).
Now, it's their chance to shine!
Cast list:
Yukito Kunisaki (all 4 clips)
Luis Ernesto Rojas Gonzalez (LG65)
Misuzu Kamio (E01 Clip)
Iruka_Sakana
Kano Kirishima (E02 Clip)
Emmy Doll
Michiru (E05 Clip)
Full Metal Kari
Minagi Tohno (E06 Clip)
g l a s sx_SAKURA
Special Appearance by:
Miranda "Mirielle" Nelson - Minagi's Mother (E06 Clip)
Clips below:
Yukito awakens to find a girl and she starts to bother him.
Kano dreams about flying and tells Yukito about it, only to have the discussion go at random and funny directions.
Yukito sees Michiru and she's all sad about Minagi. As the two sit, Yukito blows bubbles and she regains her happiness for a short bit.
Yukito tells Minagi that he is leaving, only to show what the 'real' world is like...

YAY I'm glad to see these out. (:
Michiru's voice was perfect!
Yukito, This was a very nice voice, but I think that you need to enunciate a little more so that it's easier to understand you. Also You were overpowering michiru in volume. (:
But overall very nice to watch (:

Oh! Wow, its up.
It looks pretty darn good! Nice job with the mixing and I liked your voice. I guess I should really see if I can find a better microphone… My lines didn’t sound too good… ^-^;;; I should put more work into lip-sync next time too.
Thanks again for this opportunity! I had a lot of fun.

First of all, I must applaud you for dedicating an project to feature newcomers or VAs who haven't jump into voice-acting yet. It is really nice of you, LG.
Now, on to the clip!
Full Metal Kari: Michiru - I like your voice and rendition of Michiru. It was more mature for Michiru than I'd expected. Your emotion was pretty good, but I thought there could have been a little more. I particularly enjoyed the part where you were shouting at Yukito -- your delivery and emotions there was great! Your mic quality seem to add this echo effect, so I would suggest getting a new mic once you can. Overall, good job, I liked it! And hope to hear more of you!
LG65: Yukito - Your voice was slighly deeper for Yukito, but I liked it a lot! Your emotions were also good, although there was a couple lines I thought could have used a little more emotion. Good job! =D
Mixing - It was very well done! =D I have to agree with ichigo_m that your lines were louder than Full Metal Kari's. Other than that, it was very good!

Yukito Kunisaki - LG65
you had a nice calm voice for the part, especially with a dub like this. however, i felt you were a bit flat in your emotions, as if you were just saying the lines instead of meaning them. also, you seemed to be a little off in the emotions. such as "what's wrong?" seemed more accusing than empathetic. just work on delivering and emotion some more. =)
Michiru - Full Metal Kari
i liked your energy a lot, but the microphone quality, like you mentioned, REALLY made it hard to listen to your actual performance. also, watch out for your puffs since you had a few of them while you were speaking. i felt as if, since (i think) she is a young girl, her voice could have been a bit higher, but i suppose that's really up to interpretation. i liked your delivery though =D
Mixing
like mentioned, michiru's lines were much quieter than yukito's. the background music and the sound effects were pretty good though =D so no complaints about that.
fun clip! had some technical issues and such but for the most part, enjoyable =)

Yukito- I think you almost captured his calm manner, with just a little more practice. Also try to give him a more sarcastic tone as he feels kinda flat left as is. Some of your lines came across as very read and it seems you didn't ennunciate everything properly so it made your dialogue a bit hard to understand. Mainly watch out for those d's. However I thought your burst of energy was pretty good in that scene with Kano.
Kano- I felt like her energy was just a tad too held back, and it made most of her lines come out a little flat (try and use a little more emphasis). The voice was definately appropriate though and I think you almost got her manner down, just try and sound a little more bouncy.
Looking forward to more.

Okay! Can't resist AIR! This is for the latest clip, Flight.
Emmy Doll: Very cute voice choice. You gave Kano somewhat of a mature tone while still being childish in her emotion, which I thought you did well. Perhaps you had taken the pitch up a bit more, that would have been added a bit more to her youth while still sounding earnest. I think you showed promise with your acting and spoke very clearly. However, Kano is a very eccentric, dreamer girl, and though I liked your take on her, I didn't get that sense from it which could have enhanced Kano's character even more. Also, I did think that more energy could have been added to the more emphatic lines like "oh I just got a little dizzy". Mic quality was beautiful and enjoyed your performance without a doubt.
LG65: Though I would really like to see you experiment outside of your normal voice once in a while, I think your voice worked with Yukito with this clip. Also, good job added eating sounds and altering the way you spoke because of food in his mouth (but still be careful with that). Similar to Emmy, your acting energy was not as up as it could have been which affected your delivery. More sarcasm to really establish Yukito's character would have done wonders, as it did come off more "read" than acted. Also, I think working on where you emphasize your words would improve that. Watch your mic volume or distance from your mic as well - you peaked on "I don't really CARE" and "...earth will be in danger, RIGHT?".
Scripting: Lip-flaps were a big deterrent in this clip and probably the most noticeable flaw. Though it didn't occur everywhere, the majority of it was forced in. If anything, being able to adapt a script to both Japanese and English dubbed clips is necessary for people to really engage in one's performance and take the production more seriously.
Mixing: Probably the strong aspect of this production. Music choice was wonderful and was at an even volume, SFXs were well placed, and both of your voices were around the same volume. Aside from LG's mic peaking, it worked out nicely.
Hope my critique helped both of you for the future. =]
