The Tower Of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk Episode 1



Story:

It has been sixty years since King Gilgamesh defeated "the tower" single-handedly, and now the tower is reborn again. The "Summer of Anu" is a season that comes every few years during which the powers of the monsters within the Tower wane thanks to the grace of the great god Anu. Each Summer of Anu, the armies of the Uruk Kingdom secure their strongholds within the Tower, aiming to eventually conquer the upper floors. The story begins with the third Summer of Anu. The city of Meskia is the first stronghold built on the first level of the Tower. In addition to the Uruk Army preparing for their third campaign against Druaga, innumerable adventurers called "climbers" have been drawn to Meskia by rumors of a legendary treasure believed to be hidden on the top floor of the Tower. Jil, a young guardian, has traveled to the tower and Meskia, the last safe stop on the first floor of the tower. Jil wants to gain the Blue Crystal Rod, the legendary treasure that resides on the top floor of the tower. On the top floor is the evil lord Druaga, and numerous monsters along the way.

Important!!!:

This anime is based off a series of video games first released in 1984. IMPOTANT: Though this anime is categorized as Action, Adventure, Fantasy, the first episode that this project is fandubbing acts more like a romantic comedy. This episode has many parody references, some funny moments, and a lot of yelling. I would highly suggest giving the episode a quick look just to see the tone of this episode.

Episode Summary:

The legendary Tower of Druaga is resurrected eighty years after the hero Gilgamesh has taken it down. In order to destroy the evil deity Druaga, the Kingdom of Uruk dispatches its troops to the tower, but the expedition repeatedly fails in its efforts. A young man named Jil who has been blessed by the goddess Ishtar, is awarded a set of brilliant golden armour and a sword from Gilgamesh as tokens to defeat the maumet. Sent off by the cheering crowd, our young hero Jil confidently sets out to confront the evil deity inhabiting the tower. Helped by great friends such as the archer Neeba and a Mage called Fatina, he heads for the uppermost floor of the Tower!

Jil is knocked out while trying to attack the monsters head on. He subsequently dreams of conquering the tower through a lot of comical situations,such as defeating the black knight (Monty python), Fatina being attacked by a Tentacle monster in an extremely ecchi manner with Neeba making the group stop in order to watch more, but in the end Jil wakes up to the harsh reality that he was sleeping, as he was the first to be knocked out and lost his equipment.

Notes:

-This is an anime fandub, so make sure you are able to sync your lines with the reference video. There are a few exceptions though as a few characters wear armor over their faces allowing for a little more freedom, but majority of the characters require basic ADR work.
-I plan to dub both the opening and ending songs in English. Singers are currently being scouted.
-I have provided an audio reference for each character.

Recording Information:

-Mp3 files preferred, though I will also accept WAV files. Please don't send me really weird files that I can't open.
-Try to keep pops, hisses, background noise, etc to a minimum.
-Save all lines in one file. If you are auditioning for more than one character, make a new file for each one. If possible, include multiple takes.
-Save lines as character_username (example: Jil_Jefferz.mp3)
-Include a txt file with your contact information, crediting name, and anything else you wish to include.
-Include in your email whether or not you mind being casted as a character you didn't audition for.
-ZIP all files together.

Jil:
Jil is a young adventurer who dreams of reaching the top of the Tower of Druaga. He is strong willed, determined and has deep fantasies about being a revered champion.

Neeba:
Jil's half brother; he is a skilled archer and also notably known as "Neeba the Dragon Slayer." Neeba is far more serious and competent than Jil is, and has little-to-no faith in his brother's potential as a climber. He has the most knowledge of the tower out of any of the main characters. He doesn't hesitate for a second about using his friends to do what he wants. His motivation for climbing the tower remains unknown.

Kally:
The scout of the group, he possesses street smarts and ninja-like ability, using throwing knives as his preferred weapon. It is revealed that he became a climber in order to help his impoverished home town.

Utu:
Encased in armor, he is the main attacker of the group, and he wields a battle axe. While the mask of his helm has been lifted twice so far in the series, it has always been at an angle that denies the audience the chance to see his face, thus leaving his appearance and age unknown.

Blue Knight: (front)
The Three Knights of Druaga are the most loyal and strongest of Lord Druaga's minions (although they claimed to be three but they are actually four of them) but eventually they are defeated and annihilated by Jill with a single blow. The only appear in Jill's dream in the beginning episode of The Aegis of Uruk.

A foe that Jil encounters, he is sparred "to fight again later." He later rescues Jil from the Quokks, only to be killed moments later through comic relief.

The evil lord that Jil sets out to destroy. He is killed by Jil in a comedic way.

Female Characters:

Fatina:
The only female member of the party, she is a proud magician. She admires Neeba, and has confessed to Jil that she wants to become Neeba's girlfriend, but Neeba's feelings towards her are unclear. She became a climber largely from a desire for personal profit, intending to use the power of the Blue Crystal Rod to become rich. In combat, she appears to use fire magic, utilizing a cannon-like staff weapon to cast spells.
