Based on the fantasy novel series by George R.R. Martin.

..Premise/History..
A Game of Thrones is set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, a land reminiscent of Medieval Europe. In the land known as Westeros the seasons last for years, sometimes decades, at a time.

Fifteen years prior to the novel, the Seven Kingdoms were torn apart by a civil war known alternately as "Robert's Rebellion" and the "War of the Usurper." Prince Rhaegar Targaryen kidnapped Lyanna Stark, arousing the ire of her family and of her betrothed, Lord Robert Baratheon (the war's titular rebel). The Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen, had Lyanna's father and eldest brother executed when they demanded her safe return. Her second brother, Eddard Stark, joined his boyhood friend Robert Baratheon and Jon Arryn, with whom they had been fostered as children, in declaring war against the Targaryens, securing the allegiances of House Tully and House Arryn through a network of dynastic marriages (Lord Eddard to Catelyn Tully, and Lord Jon Arryn to Lysa Tully). The powerful House Tyrell continued to support the King, but House Lannister and House Martell both dragged their feet due to insults against their houses by the King. The civil war climaxed with the Battle of the Trident when Prince Rhaegar was killed in battle by Robert Baratheon.

The Lannisters finally agreed to support King Aerys, but then brutally turned against him, sacking the capital, kings landing. Jaime Lannister of the Kingsguard executed King Aerys and House Lannister swore loyalty to Robert Baratheon. The Tyrells and remaining royalists surrendered and Robert Baratheon was declared King of the Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately, during the war, Lyanna Stark had died, apparently of illness; Robert Baratheon instead married Cersei Lannister to cement the alliance. Despite Robert's victory, the Mad King's youngest son Viserys, and youngest daughter Daenerys were taken to safety across the sea by loyal retainers. After the war House Martell chose a path of isolation, since Prince Doran's sister Elia (Prince Rhaegar's wife) and her young children had been killed by Lannister armsmen during the storming of the capital.

Six years later King Robert proved his resolve by defeating a rebellion by Lord Balon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands. Balon's two eldest sons were killed and his youngest son, Theon, was given to the care of Eddard Stark as a ward.

It would help if you're familiar with the books. But it's not required.

I have taken the novel 'A Game of Thrones' and turned the first section into script format. By first section- I mean up until Bran Stark is pushed out of the window by Jaime Lannister, and he is crippled. That will be the first episode of the first book. The second episode will be from the middle of the book, and the third episode will be from the end. I will do this with each of the books that are released so far. It will be a very long process, I know... but as long as I at least get through the second book by the start of next summer, I'll be all set. Obviously there's a chance I will not make it through each of the books. But I'll do the best I can.

I decided not to write original material for this radioplay because - I can't spend a little enough amount of time to re write something that's already perfect. So instead, I transcribed a bit. I have the first episode script written already and now I just need to find appropriate voices!

This will be a pretty demanding process so please make sure you can commit to your part [if you have a major one] before you send in auditions. Now- there are TONS of smaller parts you can audition for. Especially in this first episode, and it's a good chance to get your voice out quickly. There are also a lot of male parts, so I'm going to need plentiful guy auditions.

So yeah, that's pretty much the basics of this whole thing.

Jon Snow

Jon Snow is the bastard son of Eddard Stark, by a mother whose identity is not widely known, and a main POV character. He was raised by his father alongside his true-born half-siblings, but joins the Nights Watch when he reaches adulthood. He is constantly accompanied by his albino direwolf Ghost. Jon has a strong Stark features. He has a lean build and a long face, with dark hair and grey eyes.

Eddard Stark

Eddard Stark, sometimes called "Ned", is Lord of Winterfell, Lord Paramount of the North, and Warden of the North. He and Catelyn Stark have five children, and he has a bastard son, Jon Snow. Eddard is known for his sense of honor and justice; he dislikes deceit, intrigue, and secrecy. Though his family finds him kind, some consider his reserved personality a sign of coldness and disdain. Eddard is in his mid-thirties. He has a long face, dark hair, and grey eyes. His closely-trimmed beard is beginning to grey. He is neither as large nor as handsome as his brother Brandon was.

Theon Greyjoy

Theon Greyjoy is the son and heir apparent of Balon Greyjoy. He was taken as a hostage and ward by Eddard Stark when he was ten years old and raised in Winterfell for ten years. Theon is lean, dark, cruel, and vain, taking pride in his skills of archery and seduction. Having grown up a hostage in another family, Theon feels caught between the Stark and Greyjoy worlds, belonging to neither in full.

Robb Stark

Robb Stark is Eddard Stark's eldest legitimate child, and the heir to Winterfell. He bears great responsibility with scant complaint, and shares his father's devotion to honor and justice. Though inside he still holds a glimmer of childish innocence. He is frequently accompanied by his Direwolf, Grey Wind. Robb's appearance favors his Tully side, with a stocky build, blue eyes, and thick auburn hair.

Bran Stark

Brandon Stark, typically called "Bran", is Eddard and Catelyn's second son. He is named after his uncle, whose death was one of the series of events that led to Robert's Rebellion. Bran enjoyed climbing and exploring Winterfell until he was crippled. Like his siblings, he is dutiful and tough-minded. He is usually accompanied by a direwolf named Summer, with whom he shares a strong warg connection.

Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion Lannister, is Tywin's third child, a misshapen dwarf nicknamed "The Imp" and "The Halfman". Though he is shrewd, educated, and calculating, he receives little respect from Tywin because of his deformity, his sharp tongue, and the death of his mother during his birth. He is capable of cruelty to his enemies, but also has great sympathy for fellow outcasts and the mistreated. Tyrion is a misshapen dwarf with stunted legs, a jutting forehead, mismatched eyes of green and black, and lank, white-blonde hair. When he grows a beard, it contains both blonde and black hair. He is extremely crucial to the plot, and is one of the main characters of the novel.

Joffrey Lannister

Joffrey Baratheon is the eldest of the royal Baratheon children, and Robert's heir. He is 12 years old at the beginning of the series. Joffrey is already strong-willed as a child and has an uncontrollable temper not unlike his mother's and an unchecked sadistic streak. Like his Lannister relatives, he is tall, blonde, and handsome. He later is betrothed to Sansa Stark, whom he takes advantage of quite sadistically.

Sandor Clegane

Sandor Clegane is the younger brother of Gregor Clegane. He is nicknamed "The Hound," in part because his family arms feature three dogs, and in part for his savage nature and unquestioning obedience to his masters. He is considered one of the most dangerous fighters in Westeros, though he frequently drinks himself into stupors. As a child, Sandor received gruesome facial burns when Gregor shoved his face into a brazier. He came to loathe fire, his brother, and the hypocrisy of knighthood in general.

Sandor is a huge and heavily-muscled man. One side of his face is hideously burned. He has long black hair that he brushes over the burned section of his head where no hair grows. He regularly wears plain armor and a distinctive helm sculpted into the shape of a snarling dog's head.

Benjen Stark [Minor character]

Uncle to Jon, Eddard Stark's brother and a sworn member of the Nights Watch.

Arya Stark

Arya Stark is the third child, and second daughter, of Lord Eddard and Lady Catelyn. She is nine at the start of A Game of Thrones. A spirited girl with an interest in fighting and exploring, she is a foil of her proper sister Sansa, whom she often describes as "stupid". She is particularly close to her bastard half-brother Jon Snow. Throughout her travels, Arya displays great resourcefulness, cunning, and an unflinching ability to accept hard necessity. She is said to take after her fiery aunt Lyanna in temperament. Like her siblings, she is a skinchanger, and bonded a direwolf she named Nymeria, a reference to a warrior-queen.

Catelyn Stark

Catelyn Stark is the wife of Eddard Stark and lady of Winterfell. She had five children: Robb, Bran, Rickon, Arya, and Sansa. Catelyn was born into House Tully. She is the daugther of Hoster Tully and Minisa Tully. Catelyn is seen as honorable and upright by acquaintances, holding duty over desire as a governing principle of behavior. She has a deep love for family and a strong faith in the Seven. However, she regards the bastard Jon Snow as an outsider to her family, and has never forgiven Eddard for bringing him into her household. She is described as beautiful, with auburn hair, blue eyes, and long fingers.

Daenerys Targaryen

Daenerys Targaryen, also known as Daenerys Stormborn, and called Dany, is the the daughter of King Aerys II and his wife Rhaella. When she was born her father had already been killed and her mother had had to flee to Dragonstone. When Rhaella died giving birth to her, the exiled Targaryen family consisted only of his older brother Viserys and herself. She is stunningly beautiful, with white hair and purple eyes. She is what they call 'mother of the dragons' and one of the main characters of the entire story. Even at her young age of about thirteen, she still has been through more turmoil than a grown woman may ever know.

[Even though Dany is not in the first episode, she is crucial to all later episodes so I will cast her now.]
