Yes, I'm at it again. This time though, it's gonna get off the ground. I have time to do one radioplay, and this one is the quickest and easiest to do, so fortunately or unfortunately I'm starting from scratch.

Twilight Of The Twins

Alexandra Durham was fourteen when she lost her twin brother Jacob. She told everyone it had been an accident on the bridge that ended with him falling into the local river and getting swept downstream. People seemed convinced of that, especially since Jacob had been spotted on the bridge and his fingerprints were recovered there. But they never realized that Alexandra had lied. Jacob hadn't died at all. He had been taken, spirited away through a portal towards some land she had never fathomed before. And she wasn't able to go with him or keep him here on Earth.

Three years have passed since that incident. Despite the crushing blow Alexandra has taken, and the burden of knowing the true nature of Jacob's vanishing, she has managed to continue on with her life. She is a star power forward for the basketball team. Her grades average an A-. She even manages to write poetry and draw a webcomic in her spare time. She keeps the tragedy out of her mind by occupying herself as much as possible, by making sure she is always doing something. This has made her distant from the rest of her family, including her younger siblings Peter and Bethany.

Now, all of a sudden, the portal that swooped her brother away has returned, and attempts to take her two siblings away as well in plain sight of the public. Not willing to lose her other siblings to the same force that took her brother, Alexandra defiantly tries to keep her siblings from being pulled in with all of her strength . . . and fails. But instead of being left behind, she is drawn into the portal as well . . . and wakes up in a ruin, with no sign of either Peter or Bethany around.

She now must travel throughout the alien land she has been transported to. Where airships fly in the sky. Where a kind of "mind magic" called Psywaves dominates. Where her brother has somehow become ruler of the most dominant nation on this new earth . . . and has gone mad in the process from paronoia and rage. Conquering all in this world is on Jacob's mind, and his next target could very well be none other than Alexandra's Earth. It is not long before Alexandra realizes that rescuing her siblings and saving both her world and the new world go hand in hand.

Can Alexandra rescue her siblings, confront her twin brother, and manage to find a way to return home?

Pronunciation Guide:

On names: In Ferasia, "C"s in names are ALWAYS soft. In other words, pronounce the "C" like an "S". At the same time, "S" is pronounced like an "SH", or "ssh", except after vowels. So "Keyes" is still pronounced "Kees", not "Keesh", for example.

Description: The main heroine of this story. A person of seemingly boundless energy at the start, it becomes clear that Alexandra is still recovering from losing her twin brother to a force she does not understand. Now she has wound up in the world her brother has been transported to, a world where her brother has managed to almost conquer completely . . . and seeks to rule the Earth as well. Strong-willed yet sensitive, intelligent but not infalliable, Alexandra has a rough road ahead of her, especially if she wants to go home.

Description: This young, powerfully built woman is the daughter of the keepers of the first inn that Alexandra stays at. Etrica moonlights as a gladiator during certain nights, fighting brutal battles for petty money. After meeting Alexandra (and after being put in Alexandra's debt), Etrica decides she can have a higher purpose in life and decides to join Alexandra on her journey.

Celicia Fayne

Age: 21

Description: A brilliant young strategist and warrior who is native to Badrdem but has lived in Georlios for much of her life, her strategic genius helped Jacob overthrow the previous Divine Emperor, and her precocious skill in combat has won her the title of "Tutelary". Is one of the few who knows that Jacob has no special powers but is not disillusioned over it. Over the last year, she's been Jacob's biggest grip on sanity, and over the months of comforting and advising she's steadily falling for the young Divine Emperor (it is helped that because of her status she is one of the few people who can still address him by his name). She is a Psywave user (Psycaster) and can manipulate and control fire . . . the sole catch being that the fire must already be lit.

Meriam Sahiquez

Age: 15

Description: The fiery princess of the conquered land of Badrdem. She has joined her brother in a guerrilla war against the imperial government, and is preparing a assassination attempt/coup against the emperor in the holy city of Werlia with her brother. She is a Psywave user with the ability to generate fires and heat (as opposed to Celcia who must light a fire manually before using her abilities). As her small party lacks a Psywave healer she coerces the group into incorporating themselves into her plot. She is a deadly serious girl who has vengeance on her mind, thanks to losing her beloved sister to battle and with her parents to chains.

Age: 31

Description: A mercenary renowned for her skill and honor, and has been paid handsomely to protect Meriam with her life. She is known not to betray her wards and clients no matter what the counteroffer. She is a proud, serious individual most of the time, but she is not entirely a statue emotionally. She helps train Alexandra after Alexandra is forced into Meriam's band. She prefers to avoid combat when possible but has no qualms about killing or severely injuring a foe when she is actually in battle.

Age: 16

Description: A young priestess of the religion of Paletos, which apparently has adopted many traits of the Earthly religions of Christianity and Islam. A seemingly kind girl with the ability to use Psywaves to heal, she believes her gift is something granted by her God and thus is quite devout. As Alexandra's party searches for money, they take up a bodyguard job for her for a pilgrimage to the holy city of Werlia (which is occupied by Emperor Jacob himself). Along the way, Alexandra discovers that Marina has a bloody past, and her devotion to Paletos may be her way of atoning for sins committed . . .

Maya Relnaut

Age: 26

Description: A mercenary who commands a small crew onboard her airship Aquarius. Initially hired to rescue a village from fiends, Meriam has hijacked Maya's mission. Now, she has become a soldier when she had no wish to be, and makes it clear to Alexandra and the princess daily. She does not like Marina or the church at all, being atheist, and gets into many ideological and spiritual arguments with the girl. Maya, somewhat uncharacteristically, falls for Keyes for first sight and attempts to seduce him once in a while. Too bad for her, then, that her attempts at seduction tend to be clumsy . . .

Seras Araloc

Age: 14

Description: The youngest Araloc sibling, she is just as secretive as her two brothers about their past. A precocious expert in the creation of medicines and potions, she is also a superb survivalist for her age and can identify hundreds of edible plant species and can tell closely-related animal species apart. She is notably shy towards strangers, very much unlike her outspoken brothers, and tends to be embarrassed over praise. She is terrified of battle and the sight of blood makes her ill (though she WILL attend to bleeding wounds).

Farah Cernlat

Age: 15

Description: Considered by the emperor's forces to be an "evil genius". Spunky, intelligent, if a bit hyper. This girl loves blowing stuff up with a passion, and doesn't seem to harbor any real anger towards anyone, and seems to be going after the emperor solely out of entertainment value. Is the inventor of the “Elemental Blaster”. She is connected to famed sky pirate Maya Relnaut. She unwittingly frees Alexandra in the ruins and she carries Alexandra across the ocean before her boat is attacked and sunk. Did she survive?

Samantha Durham

Age: 44

Description: The stressed mother of four and widely considered to be the best surgeon at her hospital, Samantha has attempted to be more involved in her children's lives since what she believed to be Jacob's death. Samantha means well and tries to be a good parent, but long hours at the hospital are taking a toll on all of her relationships . . . especially with Alexandra, who she (correctly) thinks is burning herself out. It does not help that Samantha has a nasty sarcasm streak. After her children vanish Samantha maintains a constant vigil as close to the portal as she can.

Age: 24

Description: The leader of the wyvern riders attached to Maya's airship, Teria is a powerful user of electric Psywaves as well as a warrior skilled in air-to-air combat, and is unusually long-lived for a profession where getting shot down equals instant death. She disapproves of Maya's flirtations, for reasons she's not quite sure of . . .

Description: Alexandra's twin and best friend on Earth, he vanished into a bright portal of wind and light three years preceding. He has since overthrown an emperor and has conquered much the Ferasia . . . and is becoming mad with power, rage, and paronoia. Now he wants to master the portals to eventually invade and conquer Earth as well . . . and he wants to make his two younger siblings into vassals. Little did he count on, though, was his twin sister coming into the world, and becoming his most determined opposition. Despite lacking Psywave ability Keyes mimics that ability by using an Elemental Blaster, a gun that fires special grenades that mimic the damage used by Psywave users (or Psycasters), the very same weapon invented by a Farah Cernlat . . .

Age: 17
Description: The middle sibling of the Araloc trio. Is more open than his siblings and often reveals tidbits of who the siblings are and what they are trying to accomplish (but won't divulge anything of importance). He quickly develops a crush on Alexandra that slowly turns into full-blown love. A swordman's apprentice, he seeks to protect Alexandra whenever possible but often finds himself getting in the way. He can be a bit of a coward at periods, something he is ashamed of and is working to fix.

Keith Dunlevy
Age: 17

Description: Alexandra's boyfriend on Earth. He is a fairly active person, he is both an editorial columnist for the school newspaper and one of its two photographers. He seems to be the only male non-family member who can get away with calling her "Alex". When Alexandra is taken by the portal, Keith is left behind. He eventually decides to sneak around the military barricade surrounding the still-active portal and follow Alexandra. Will he succeed?

However, he is privately fearful of Celicia and for that he is currently nonchalant about the current rule. That may change in the future . . .

Description: The father of all of the Durham children, Michael has a relatively easygoing personality in contrast to his severe, strict wife Samantha. He has been frustrated by perpetually getting stuck with the night shift, which prevents him from being around his kids. After losing the remaining three of his children, Michael wants nothing more than to leave his town, which brings him into conflict with Samantha.

Description: A hard-nosed warrior part of Karsae's small outfit. Very strong and intimidating, and is accompanied by a steely-cold manner that makes him seem impersonal. He is a pure mercenary, but dares not betray Karsae out of both fear and comradery. He does not like being in crowds and cities.
