[ORIGINAL] Tales of Castus ~Chapter I: Scouting~ - 08-12-2008, 12:57 AM

Tales of Castus
Written and Produced by Toku
Episode I: Scouting

Story:In the world of Gelowain, the caste system has been taken to a new extreme. Ever since the great destruction of over ten noble houses by a rebellion of the lower class one year ago, the wealthy and the poor have engaged in indirect warfare. Petty skirmishes have emerged around the world, supporters riling up in blind hatred for the other while certain locales have been barricaded, people only of a certain side allowed. Gelowain has reached an imbroglio of epic proportions.

With the fine line between factions set, can good and evil really be distinguished? After all, the cause one fights for must be good in their eyes. Friends are turning against one another, the gap between classes are increasing. How can the impeding imbalance of the world be corrected? Maybe this task should be left to a select few…

Or perhaps mankind can’t correct this imbalance at all…

Mindless Chatter:
Well…ugh, I’m awful at these kinds of things. If something sounds stupid, please disregard it for I am a stupid person. Anyways, back on topic. It took me forever to mix this together due to a bit of my own laziness and because my computer crashed. This caused me to A. restart everything from scratch, B. restart everything from scratch a week after I started it and C. make me fall into a deep, deep depression. Well, not really but you get the point.

Mad rant aside, it’s done and woot, it’s out. Please tell me what you think. Whether it has to do with what you thought about my cast or my mixing skills (probably this one because lol I suck….) Everything will be appreciated. I promise. So if you’ve come this far, you must be at least a tiny bit interested or disgusted, (either one, I’m not picky) so thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy it or at least not be forced to scratch your ears off from how awful I mixed it…*shot*

Oh yes, to my cast! Thanks so much for putting up with me. If I was feeling more coherent right now, I would thank each one of you individually and say how great you are but for now please accept my undying love <3<3<3<3<3 (those are hearts for those of you who don’t know)

I’m done now. (Finally, right?) So, here you go…

Hey, pretty cool show. Good job on the mixing. I think more sfx and bg music would have been even better, but I'm not complaining.
I enjoyed it, and will look forward to more!

Re: Tales of Castus ~Chapter I: Scouting~ - 08-12-2008, 02:56 AM

Ohhh woooowww....not only does my Mic suck, but I sure do toooo~ ^^;; Ahh...Let's see...

The door sounds seem a bit weird, I suppose o-o Nothing really worrisome however...I really enjoyed how all of it was done, and I do adore the story so far ^_^ It has so much potential...and with the cast that remains it sure turn out amazing! I reaaally look forward to seeing more of it...aahh....should I do individual ones? I guess I will~ n.n;

Exdevlin - Though the role wasn't a very large one, you still performed wonderfully n.n I do hope to see more of you in the future, as there is a great bit of intrigue the character wouldn't have without you~

Mike_Sandbag - Not only was the quality of your mic and the like phenomenal, but you yourself were simply fabulous!!! I meaaan...woooow..@.@;; Your so great...The battle sounds are the only thing I can really speak up about..they sounded a little weird, but nothing major~

Mippa - Ahhh...does anything really need to be said? Your always fantastic in any role that you play, and this is no different at all. Such a fabulous consistent strain of emotion and dialogue..ahhh...what more can be said?

ZenithStar - I didn't realize my quality was so bad until now..x.x;;;...I'm an insult to this brilliance, and I soo am putting myself down because of it~ n.n;;

Refi-Chan - Though admitedly your Mic was a bit weird as well, it didn't take away from the fact the voice itself was incredibly well done. You just had that sultry wealth thing down perfect~

Rebelcheese - Small role? Maybe....but that doesn't change the fact you did an amazing job of what you had, and that your phenomenal. Quality shift with the Mic too...but I didn't notice it very much, honestly ^^

Dymatrex - Ahhh...you scare me...Even in what is like a Cameo you can perform to such a wonderful extent...@.@;;;....Hummnn....I suppose I should offer some kinda of helpful words of critique as well, but no one said I was good at delivering such stuff~ Just know you were great!

Toku: The only real problems with the mixing were ones that would of happened naturally to any production, and your putting yourself down way too much! You did a great job of putting this together, and inventing a world and stage for these characters...if anything you should be proud of yourself for overcoming the obstacles that presented themselves and actually finishing this, and know that you've made quite the fan out of me! ^^

All in all I will say that if you have the time you will NOT regret giving this a listen, as I truly believe it to be brilliant and intriguing....give it a listen when you can, and know it has my full recomendation~

...Not that it means alot, but it does o-o

Re: Tales of Castus ~Chapter I: Scouting~ - 08-12-2008, 02:22 PM

The mixing was really good~! The running during the convict chase was getting a bit repetitive, by the time Sol realized it was Nicolette. It sounds like the music cut out abruptly after the chase scene. Some of the shuffling sfx were a bit off, but it seems like it's pretty hard to find good effects. I really like the opening theme.

Lola Magnon: exdevlin
>.>;

Sol Branchel: Mike_Sandbag
Hah, Mike, you did a great Sol, almost exactly as I heard him in my head when I read through the script. I wanted to hear him squirm just a little bit more with Madame Govair's "affections" though.

Nikolette Sheres: mippa
As usual, mippa, you do cheery characters well. I wanted to hear a bit of wincing when Sol stepped on Nicolette's foot though. I really liked the yelling!! No clipping at all!

Convict: ZenithStar
Poor little convict, beat up by the two heroes. ^^ The mic quality was on the low side, and the gravely way you did the voice probably added to it (gravelly voices sound worse on a bad mic than smooth voices do). It was a small part, but we couldn't have set the stage without you.

Madame Govair: Refi-Chan
I agree with what Zenith said, you definitely have that wealthy snoot down to a tee. The mic quality was pretty low, but it was still easy to hear the character in the voice. I love how she reminds me of a rich indulgent grandmother. (I especially like the way you said "That ruffian stole money from me!")

Knight: rebelcheese
A small role, but it sounds like the Knights are .. hmm, shall we say, not rightly aligned. You really got that "something's not quite right with us" down. Some of the enunciations were a bit buried, but i'm not sure if it's because of the microphone, or if it's the way you spoke for the role.

Drunk: Dymatrex
You make such a good sleazy drunk. (Now, if I'd said that in real life, you probably would've taken that as an insult.) I like how off-kilter you are, while still trying to pull off being smooth. I loved the freak-out too, despite the sound clipping. I *especially* liked the way you handled the "don't point that gun at me" line.

Awesome work everybody! I can't wait for the next installment.

Toku, can I just say HOW HAPPY I AM to see some of my voice work in the FINISHED stage. You have MY UNDYING GRATITUDE for sticking with this and finishing it! (since I got the part and recorded right before leaving, having done right when I get back was a happy discovery for me! ^_^)

The opening song is way catchy, I like it. Was it an original song for this? What's it called/who did it?

hm, perhaps overlaping Sol's grunts with Govair hugging would help see what's going on and associating the grunts sooner with the hug?

Madam Goviar was so much fun to play XD Thank you for having me!
XD I sound so old and fat and chubby! {sorry about the mic...it was a lot better on my old comp before it broke a year ago, I don't
know why it sounds worse on my new one}

Legendia music in the bg ^_^ brings back memories.

XD wow the drunk was really well done (good job to the whole cast, but Dymatrex's part really stuck out while I was listening)

WACK!!! CLIFFHANGER (I should talk, I do that all the time in my writings too) the pod cast announcement came in so suddenly at the end it made me jump! Perhaps a bit of trailing of cliffhanger music at the end with a dramatic last chord to help feel the end before going off so we can take it in before the ad?

Thanks again for getting this done!!! ^_^

About time for me to review . . .

Hmm . . . nice job with the mixing overall. A couple of the sound effects sound iffy but there was nothing that screamed "terrible". Generally everything sounded natural, and there were some decent BGM choices that complimented the scenes well. The dialogue wasn't bad either, and the writing flipped between seriousness and comedy pretty well.

Lola: exdevlin

I'd need to know more about the character before I say too much, but the way you voiced her made her very mysterious and interesting.

Sol: Mike_Sandbag

Nice performance, very natural. A little extra emotion in places (generally the battle noises) would've been nice, but in general it was a great performance. Superb mic quality as well, it is difficult to tell that you spoke through a mic.

Nikolette: mippa

As always, you prove to be the queen of cheerful girlish characters. Great range of emotion, awesome mic quality and a natural-sounding voice makes for an excellent performance.

Convict: Zenithstar

Yeah, the mic quality suffers a bit here but you did a great job with what you had.

Madame Govair: Refi-chan

You did a great job with her. You definitely sounded like a middle-aged spoiled rich woman there, and there was awesome line delivery.

Knight: rebelcheese

Who's this idiot mucking up the production? Off with his head, I say! :3

Drunk: Dymatrex

If I hadn't known any better I'd swear you downed a few before voicing this guy. Scary good.
