The castlist is now up! Congrats to all of the ones who made it! It was a LONG and extremely tedious undertaking (We especially went back and forth on Tohru~ >_>) but I'm certain that each person cast will fit the characters extremely well! I apologize to those who did not make it in, but I certainly could tell that you all worked hard on your auditions and there are definitely some talented people here that I
sincerely wish I didn't have to turn down. I'd love to post the names of the other stand-out auditionees, but with this amount of people I don't want to offend anyone or anything~ Watch out though! I may want to scout you for a future project of mine! >3
That being said the cast members will be posted down below! To those part of the production, expect the script in the next two days .. or anytime before July 30th! More info will be coming along with it. :'D

AAAAAND AUDITIONS ARE CLOSED~ :3
I’d love to thank EVERYONE who auditioned for this! I know it sounds super cliché when I say you all did a great job and I’m going to have a hard time choosing, but it is SO true, omg. Especially for Tohru .. and Machi .. and Kagura .. and Kis—basically
everyone. There are hundreds of sound files to relisten to and analyze, and I’m enlisting the help of a few IRL friends to provide some extra sets of ears and opinions to help me cast this. Hopefully the cast will be up by Saturday, but I’m not sure yet. It'll be tough to narrow down the 49 people who auditioned for so many roles into the 26 major and minor characters! ;~; Sit tight, be patient, and wait until then! :3
Thanks again for auditioning everyone! I'm so happy that my first project received so much interest! ;~; ♥
EDIT: I'm sorry that it's taking so long, but the cast will be up by tomorrow night or earlier! Thanks SO much for your patience, and I'm sorry again for how long it's taking. :3

★ Fruits Basket: Volume 21 Radioplay ★

INFO:
*BEWARE SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD*
Fruits Basket is a popular shoujo manga circling around the Sohma family secret. It isn’t until Tohru Honda, an orphaned high school girl stumbles upon a Sohma house in the forest that the true nature of the Sohmas is revealed: Whenever a member of the Sohma family’s Chinese Zodiac is hugged by a member of the opposite sex, he or she turns into their respective animal. While the first half of the series passes in light hearted humor and mildly romantic episodes, the second half of the manga takes a darker twist as Tohru delves deeper into the Sohma family curse. Some things, she learns, are not as simple as they seem.
Volume 21 of Fruits Basket is hands down my favorite issue of the entire series just for how seriously EPIC and heart wrenching it is. Basically, it’s the culmination of everything that has been building up to this point from Tohru’s confession of love, to Akito’s crazed confrontation with Tohru, the final showdown of Yuki and Kyo, to the start of Yuki’s new relationship. I’ve always been upset by the fact that the anime doesn’t go as far as the manga, and I’ve always wanted to hear these scenes being played out. So here we are~
This radioplay features several major characters, supporting characters, and a few minor characters in there as well. (Supporting characters either show up in more than one scene, have more than three lines, or are instrumental in moving the plot along, etc.) If I lack auditions for certain minor characters, I will either cast based on the auditions I receive for other characters or condense/rewrite the script to feature the scenes with the more major characters. If you would like to read the volume for character reference, just email me. (Just so you know, I will send everyone who is cast either a copy of the entire volume or a copy of the specific chapters/sections their character is in.) I am still in the process of adapting the script so it works for a radioplay, but for the most part I have the script transcribed.
If I forgot anything important in this thread, please let me know! This is my first production so I’m a bit new at this sort of thing. Yes, I realize I’m taking on a large and somewhat complicated project, but I learn pretty fast. :>

AUDITION GUIDELINES:- Do not audition unless you are planning to be active. Specifically the main characters who have TONS of lines for both dialogue and inner narration. I will cast understudies, should the amount of interest allow, but I really prefer that you don’t disappear on me.
- I reserve the right to self-cast, if I don’t find what I’m looking for, but I will only do so as a last resort.
- I may ask people to read for another character based on their performances in their auditions. I reserve the right to cast supporting or minor characters based on auditions as other characters.
- If you want critiques, please ask! I don’t guarantee a speedy reply—as I’m not sure how many auditions I’ll receive—but rest assured that your critique will get to you if you ask. In addition to the critique, I might also ask you to redo your auditions if I’d like to hear you deliver something in another way.
- Record in 44100hz MP3 format, with as little clicks and pops etc. as possible.
- Save the lines as "charactername_yourname_linenumber.mp3" (ex: Tohru_Cake_01.mp3) If you’d like to send multiple takes of the same line, I’d prefer if you put all the takes in one mp3. Multiple takes are not necessary but it helps me to hear more of your voice and acting ability.
- Post in this thread after sending your audition, just so I know.
- Send your auditions in a .zip or .rar file to interfacingly@gmail.com with the subject line: “Fruits Basket: Vol. 21 [Radioplay]” by July 15, 11:59 PM EST with your information (VAA username, AIM, email, voice range, etc.) in a .txt file (preferred) or in the email. If you need an extension, please ask beforehand. *NOTE: DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY TWO DAYS. Previously, it was set to be to July 13, but now it's July 15.
