[Lunamaria]

Nodame Cantabile is an anime/manga/drama about the son of a famous pianist: Chiaki Shinichi dreams of studying abroad and becoming a conductor like his mentor. Unfortunately, his fear of flying grounds his lofty plans! As he watches other classmates achieve what he has always wanted, Shinichi wonders if he should quit music altogether. Then one day he meets fellow student Noda Megumi, also known as Nodame. This oddball girl cannot cook, clean, or even read a music score, but she can play the piano in uncomparable cantabile style. And she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten: to enjoy his music, no matter where he is. Nodame Cantabile summary from One Manga.

PROJECT INFORMATION - Nodame & Shinichi in Paris - This is only a small project. I plan on making a short radio play to chapter 78 of the Nodame Cantabile manga, starting from page 13, which can be read here, until page 31. For now, I have no official plans to do any other chapters, but, in the future, if I have time, I may do a few of my favorite chapters of Nodame Cantabile where Nodame and Chiaki are abroad. I really love the chapters where they first go abroad. This [chapter 78] is later on in their stay in Paris, but it is one of my favorites. This is the chapter where Sun Rui's mother comes to take her home, and where Rui discovers Nodame's Cantabile style of playing. It's really got a lot of depth to it.

MALE -

Chiaki Shinichi
Age: 25
Bio: Chiaki is a stoic, serious guy. Very passionate about conducting, he can sometimes take things over board, even though he means well. He is, possibly, Nodame's boyfriend. Chiaki has up until this point been denying it, but now he no longer does, even acknowleding Nodame as his girlfriend when people tell him he must be dating the "rich million dollar" type of girl. He is very judgmental towards other people, but, above all, of himself.

1. Annoyed, commanding. "Wait a minute! What's up with you?"
2. Hesitant, scared of Mama's bag about to get him! "She didn't stay in my room! She really didn't!"
3. Concerned, to Nodame. "She seemed a little unusual, don't you think? ... Like she's forcing herself to smile."

Noda Megumi (Nodame)
Age: 24
Bio: She is a crazy, screw-ball pianist who has an unmatched cantabile ("freely playing") style. After being convinced by Chiaki to study abroad with him, they are both studying music in Paris, France. When it comes to girls around Chiaki, like Rui, she can be very self-conscious, but, in the end, always goes back to calling herself Chiaki's wife and girlfriend.

2. Interested, excited. "I thought it was really interesting! That concert."

Sun Rui
Age: 20, 21, 22?
Bio: She is a prodigy at the piano right out of China. Having been praised her whole life, Rui has had little chance to induldge in a normal life with friends her age. After spending time with Nodame and the gang, she is getting her first taste of what it's like to be normal, however, her mother cuts that short.
Voice: Deep, mature, womanly, a little flirty
Lines:

1. Happily. "Then let's go drinking, the three of us!"
2. Shocked, if not a little scared. "M-Mama?! How come you're in Paris..."
3. Hearing Nodame's playing, awed. "Can It be... is this Chiaki's playing?"

Sun MAMA
Age: As old as dust
Bio: Not much is known about her, except that she is the mother from Hell. Very protective of her daughter and her daughter's career, Mama Sun (I don't know her real name), can get violent even and dictates her daughter's life, musically and non. However, she still loves Rui very much.
Voice: Be creative!
Lines:

1. Angry, yelling. "You deceitful daughter! I heard from Madam Bell! You're almost always out of the house!"
2. To Chiaki, angry. "Like teacher!" Pause. "Like Student! Womanizing habits."

Tanya
Age: 20
Bio: An attractive senior at the conservatory, Russian Tanya is noted by many of the Nodame male's as wearing clothes that are too bright and flashy. Her goal is to find a french affluent boyfriend so she does not have to return to Russia after she graduates, and lacks confidence in her piano playing. She becomes friends with Nodame and Chiaki.
Voice: No accent, please. She has a somewhat mature, and sometimes overly flirtacious voice
Lines:

1. Yelling through her window at Nodame. "Nodame! You're too noisy!"
2. Yelling through her window at Nodame. "Didn't I tell you not to practice with the window open? I can't hear the TV!"
