[PODCAST] A Night Comes! -Square of the Moon- Episode 03: The Initiation, Part III - 03-12-2008, 09:15 AM

A Night Comes! -Square of the Moon-
Written and Produced by Data Drain
Based on Yoru ga Kuru! -Square of the Moon-
Created by Alicesoft

Episode 3:
The Initiation, Part III

Story:
When a mysterious second moon appears in the sky, everything in the city of Kokura, Japan begins to change. The Astronomical Agency observed this new moon and concluded that it simply doesn't exist; we see it, yet it isn't there. What can it be? Following the appearance of this new moon are dangerous monsters that began to appear and affect the city as a whole. The monsters are referred to as "Kasha" by those that know about them, after the demonic forms that they take on. However, a group of teenagers with special abilites in Kokura High, known as the Astronomy Club, have begun their own search to discover the purpose of this new moon. The Astonomy Club is simply a front for these students, who are both fighting the monsters that are attacking the city as well as scouting the city for people with abilities just like theirs.

Makoto, an ally of the Astronomy Club, has stumbled upon the unthinkable; a group of Kasha who have appeared on a night that the False Full Moon has not appeared in the sky. Tensions are high as everyone worries about Izumi's actions and the potential harm that they may cause. Ryou remains blissfully unaware of his abilities, or of the monsters that attack Kokura at night...but for how much longer?

Producer's Notes:
Finally! This episode felt like it took forever to finish; technically, it did. Four days of mixing while doing about three or four hours of work per day, and here it is! Let that be a lesson to me to never ever ever again mix anything out of scene order. This episode was a little tricky, mainly because of the fight scene, which I was told was a little lacking in the first episode. I tried to improve on things the best I could; please let me know how I did! I feel that it's the best that it could possibly be given the situation of me going crazy and spending more time on it than I have with the previous two episodes. I hope that shows! =D

Cast, you guys are all excellent. It's really obvious that you're all getting comfortable coming into your roles, and River Angel Odin, even though you went from having two lines to like over 9,000, you make Makoto sound like she's been around with all of those lines since the first episode. Everyone did a great job in this episode, despite it being more Makoto-centric and not having as many lines for the rest of you guys. Haha, it's almost 5 in the morning and I think I'm rambling a little, so I'll cut it off here.

As always, please critique after you listen! Really, it helps a lot to hear both the praise and the put-downs (as long as you tell me WHY you're putting it down); it motivates me to fix things, and trust me, I really, really do listen to every word that everyone says!

PS, definitely make sure that you guys listen to the outtakes that Cerise mixed for this episode! I was CRYING from laughing so hard at them. Thanks for mixing them for me yet again, Cerise! =D

Yay for the third episode! Bloody Howling, your line where you're reading from the physics book near the end is funny because your voice sounds progressively more hopeless. Makoto's 'Pipe down peanut gallery' also made me chuckle.

And yay for new people!
@Narutofied: You have a very cute voice so you make it easy to imagine a cute little girl. Great job!

@Mochan: It sounded a bit like there was a bowl over your head, which is a shame because you sounded really good!

@DPrime: You did a great job as well. You sounded a little... 'villainous', which could have been your intention, but otherwise, no complaints!

I really have to thank you again for doing the bloopers. The order they're in and the music in the background really make them hilarious. You have NO idea how hard I was laughing when you went on your tangent about Ryou, I seriously couldn't breathe! xDD

Hey, thanks for the kind words! =D Yeah, I definitely think I improved on the fighting scene, I just wasn't sure how much I improved. xDD I'm glad you enjoyed the episode!

Don't worry about not auditioning for Woman on Date...I've got a few more roles that I'm going to open for audition in a month or so, some minor and some semi-major, so I'll keep you posted on those! =D

I have to say, at first I was a little unsure about this play but now I'm starting to get into it. The cast is doing a great job and the story is building up in an interesting direction that makes me want to hear more.

It's nice to see R. Douglas Barbieri is getting better as he goes, at first he was pretty stiff and seemed out of place with the other voices, but now he's starting to fit in well and has loosened up a bit.

Nice use of manipulated animal sounds for the monsters too, it makes them familiar but alien so quite creepy.

Keep producing!
Rob

Thanks for the compliment! =D You can praise Cerise Panda for the outtakes, she's really been doing an excellent job with them; I don't think I could've done them better myself!

It's good to hear from another producer that though things have started off shaky, they're starting to pick up! =D

R. Douglas Barbieri has definitely been getting into the role a lot better, and by now, hopefully everyone is used to his deeper voice in contrast to the others. It fits the character!

Thanks for the compliment on the animal sounds; it took a little bit of playing around with them, and while I think I might improve on them a little bit for the next episode, it's nice to hear that you liked them!

Thanks a million to everyone who has been listening and commenting, it's greatly appreciated! =D

*gasp* This came out while I was gone! I almost missed it! O_O As stupid as it sounds, I didn't know I was in this episode. XD Do you not email your cast when an episode comes out, Data? D= For shame!

Anyway, I really love how you get the actors to describe what's going on and what they're going to do, etc. Your SFX amaze me. *_* Goodness, I'm jealous. XD

Yep, Shinkai is totally my favorite.

I don't know what's wrong with my noise reduction but I always sound like I have a bowl over my head. *sad* DPrime did very good! =D

Anyway, I couldn't hear any puffs this time, so that was definitely a plus. :3 I have no complaints at all. Everyone is doing SO well. Kirara is cuuuuuute. XD This is just progressing awesomely and can't wait for more!
