Star Wars: Marvels Casting Call - 09-05-2007, 06:42 PM

Well, in the immortal words of Ben Kenobi, "Hello there." This is a casting call for the audio project, Star Wars: Marvels. This project was originally conceived of as an ongoing audio parody series. Eventually, it evolved into more of a PIXAR style- an action/drama with enough humor and parody elements to be funny, but still serious enough to be called a drama, not a parody. The first twelve episodes are being adapted here as a 'miniseries'- the first of potentially three, but the only one currently planned, and can stand alone if the project is never pursued again.

This is a large project, with 133 roles- and as of today, they have all been cast! However, there is still a need for vocal work- see below!

NEWS:
Casting is complete! Now the hard work begins- so send in those lines!!!

Main Cast:

Chris Dickey – Chapter 1 completed, Chapters 2, 3, and 7 remaining

Andrew Gilbertson – Chapters 1, 2, and 3 completed, Chapters 4-12 remaining

Silas Carder – Chapter 1 completed, Chapters 2-12 remaining

Jeremy Stephen Buzash – Chapters 1-7 completed, Chapters 8-12 remaining

Douglas Gonnelly – Chapter 1 completed (minus ending credits not yet finalized), Chapters 2, 4, and 12 remaing

Melissa Johnson – Chapter 8 and 9 completed, Chapters 10-12 remaining

Episodic Roles:

Donna Lamaestra Charles – (2) – Recording imminent

Timothy Harrison – (4) – Recording Iminnent

Lindsay Harrison – (7) - Waiting (Maternity leave)

Brandon Parker – (10) - Waiting (to be fair, Brandon was the first actor for Marvels to complete his role- it is only additional lines written for the teasers that are being waited on)

Bill Young – DONE

Harry Bickings - DONE

R. Douglas Barbieri - DONE

April Smith – DONE

For those interested in contributing: Background vocals. These are more or less 'extras' used to enhance the scene and suggest that more than just the main scripted characters are involved. These will be credit under "Featuring the additional vocal talents of..." in the end credits. Feel free to attach them with auditions, send them in separately, etc.- I can use as many as I can get! The needed ambaince includes:
SCENES:
Sounds of farmers, battling flying predators attacking their village (hand to hand or with farming implements.)
Sound of Swoop-bikers being killed by blaster, falling, being crushed by rocks, or crashing
Sounds of villagers shouting in commotion to avoid being run over by a fast-moving speeder
Sounds of civillians running and screaming in panic during a mercenary attack.
Sounds of people running, screaming, and panicking as a paradise planet is struck by a major calamity; litteraly the end of the world.
Bounty hunters charging with a load cry.
Bounty hunters crying out in suprise, and being trampled by a stampede.
DIALOGUE:
A group of rebels/soldiers...
Chuckling/laughing at wisecracks during the mission briefing
Muttering assent.
Cheering, weakly, then more strongly, and finally triumphantly as they are 'worked up' by a pre-battle speech
Generally conversing and murmuring as they move out from the briefing area
Giving shouts of acknowledgement and salutes in response to an "Everybody ready?"
DEATHS:
Lots and LOTS of people being killed by blaster!!! Like, hundreds- they die by the bucketful!
People falling to their death from a high cliff/ledge/balcony
People being hurled around like rag dolls and savaged by an infuriated Wookie.
Other Miscellanious death cries.
So, if you feel like adding any or all of those into the mix, please feel free to do so- none will be turned away! You can either record them separately and label them for what they are, or just record a batch of multi-purpose screams and dialogue not specific to any given situation.

YAAAYYYY...just wondering if I want to audition for like 5+ parts can I record like their name and then the line in all one file? It doesn't bother me either way but since I do them all in one take it's a little easier.

Aibrean - Sure, that's fine. Having been on the acting side of things often enough myself, I know how much of a pain in the neck it can be to separate and rename all the different audition files, depending on the program you're using- so feel free to do things that way; though it would help if you would still list them in the text of the e-mail, which would make it easier for me to organize.

R. D. B. - Looking forward to it!

What's the deadline for auditions? I might have just missed it if it's already there, but I didn't see one.

No, I didn't really mention that- because at present, there is none. For the time being, the project is not in any 'rush' status, so the deadline is nonexistant- hence the very 'causal' nature of things. Once I see a sufficient interest and number of roles cast that the project looks closer to being ready to proceed, I may start posting some deadlines- but for the moment, with nearly 50 roles and no scheduled release date, it would be kind of absurd of me to try and push things. So, to sum all of that up more simply: initial interest here will determine a deadline later on down the road- be that days, or be that weeks.

Hmm, that's odd, my email was returned. Is there possibly a mistake in your email address on the page? I can't seem to send you my auditions.

Starwarsmarvels@yahoo.com- that should be a correct link. If it's still not getting through, you can try the alternate of Nolinecinemas@comcast.net , but I can only check that one on a 56K connection... so smaller is better. Or alternatively, you can PM me about alternate arrangements if it's still giving you trouble. Sorry about that!
