Smile METAL GEAR SOLID: Dawn of Tomorrow - 06-11-2006, 11:13 AM

This is a project that I've been working on for over a year now. I took a huge break from it due to personal reasons and this is actually the first thing I have produced in 2 years, but I am VERY happy with the results.

This project is what I call a "Go No-Where Trailer". The whole concept is that this is a trailer for a story that was never technically written. It has a basic theme, characters, and sounds like it would go into a full production, but this is actually it. Because of that, I pour all my abilities into making the trailer as good as it can be. Let's face it,very few of us actually complete multi-chapter stories anymore because so much is involved... Some of you do, and those that do I recognize you, but very few of us actually do. But what if you could do everything you wanted and compile it into one trailer and when it's finished, it's finished? It leaves so much open to the imagination of the listener and if you DID want to pick it up later then you could, but it leaves you open to other projects as well.

This is where "Dawn of Tomorrow" comes from. It's based on a short story that I wrote and never released. Now that video has come out for Metal Gear Solid 4, this story doesn't have much of a place except in between Sons of Liberty and 4. The first few minutes are all flashbacks leading up to the story, then the rest of it is all original. I hope you enjoy this as I had a BALL creating it. Thank you to the entire cast who showed so much patience with me in making this. Some people I asked for lines from repeatedly because I was so picky about them being perfect. I know a lot of you thought this was shelved and would never be finished, or forgot about it completely, well, rest assured, it's finished. And to everyone that listens, please give recognition for these amazing people. Some of the best people I have worked with in all the years I've been doing radio plays.

Here is the website for the RP: http://www.bluelionheart.com/va/mgsdot/

And I want to say a very very VERY special thank you to Jenna for being a huge inspiration in this. She was not only supporting me and encouraging me to work on it when I was down in the dumps, but she was my muse through this as well. Thank you very much dear, I love you bunches!

So without further ado, here are the links! One is High Quality (I really recommend this one) and one is Low Quality for those with slower connections. The Low Quality one came out surprisingly well for it's size, but it loses a lot of the stereo back and forth that is in the HQ version.

Thank you so much!!! There are a few things that CEP seems to have glitched on and cut out so I am repairing the damage at the moment (ie. Ocelot practicing his gunplay at the beginning...) I was hoping to have it fixed before anyone downloaded it. XD

Fantastic mixing Aaron. It saddens me that you don't get the recognition that other people get on the board because this is really a very creative piece. You made excellent use of sound effects, filters, music and used both channels which is always good to hear. It resulted in a piece with a lot of depth and ambience, you could really imagine the trailer as if it were a movie trailer. It is sorta like a 15 minute all you can eat Snake buffet. And your Snake is spot on by the way. And that rhymes!

I've been able to hear the production even in its earliest stages and the improvement is amazing. I think that some of the other character's performances were a bit disappointing but the way you mixed the lines makes everyone sound better, which is what a good producer should do.

Stand out performers:
Snake, Vulcan Raven. Good character depth and delivery, without being OTT
President Eastwick (loved the way you said terrrrorriist demannds).
Talisa Eastwick, suitably cute and scared sounding.
Raiden. Good energy from Blue.

So bad it was good: Psycho Mantis. Liquid Snake. Famine. I shouldn't like these voices, but I do lol. Perhaps partly cos of the sexual innuendo and heavy breathing lol.

Who played the Grey Fox? Is it a myyyysterrrryyy?

And it is a pleasure being your muse/pestering you everytime you came online

Adored this. I remember having second thoughts on the cast list back then, but the people I expected not being able to pull off multiple characters convincingly, the Matt Duo did a fantastic job :3

Mixing is great, as usual from you. *three thumbs up*

Just PM me if you need anything, you know.

I'm so pleasantly surprised to see this finally finished. I auditioned for this because I knew how good of a mixer you were, BP, and I think it really shows here. I imagine this playing after That 70's Show as a "SPECIAL TEN MINUTE PREVIEW OF METAL GEAR SOLID: DAWN OF TOMORROW!"

No one really did a terrible job. Otacon's voice sounded a little too like a child. And of course I sucked all around. A few times, the music got too loud compared to the voices, but it helped set the tone, I think, so it worked.

But yeah. Awesome job, so pleased to finally hear this, and thanks for letting me be a part of it!

Because I'll be pulverizing you sometime over the weekend.

And the cleaning lady... cleans up... dust. She dusts. And she has weekends off, so... Monday. Right?

But Matt, the actor who played Liquid sucked, so if you suck too that means you did a good job!
