{NAT.dis} - The Hywyre Kids -
05-05-2006, 04:33 PM
OK, some of you may or may not know that this is a hybrid thread made up of two, completely serperate threads. One was originally a "Johnnie's Monologue" thread, in the Shorts and Samplers forum, and, soon after I released that, I released a "Mary Jane's Monologue" thread.
I asked Nikki to help me merge the two threads together and move that thread into the Finished Works forum. So, this thread is now a release platform for a new Natural Disasters feature, "The Hywyre Kids".
This is a double monologue feature--each of the monologues have clues and hints, as you pay attention, to realize, the chronologically correct piece of a greater puzzle.
Perhaps, the greater puzzle will be an episode, in the future. Also, perhaps, said episode will be a piece to an even greater puzzle than that of "The Hywyre Kids" (which, I present to you, today). The one that we must arrange, correctly, to reveal the true greater puzzle: The Natural Disasters Mythology
Enjoy these clips.
Everything that Natural Disasters presents to you should be considered and listened to with, an open and creative, yet, academic attitude.
You should always expect 'more' of what you hear.
Enjoy! --------------------------------------------------------
Sylph Multimedia Productions

The Natural Disasters Web Site Project
"Natural Disasters" is currently in the process of erecting an official web site. Everything you say in the replies to this thread will be used for testimonials, or, other, artistic articles for the web site, as well as references for ideas and suggestions for Natural Disasters story, character and flashback development.
If you have a pretty average imagination and, maybe, you think of something cool, related to an episode or a clip, or have an idea for anything at all, in regards to character development, character storylines, stories in general, ideas for new characters, or, who a stranger (from a clip) may be, or, perhaps, what the guy was actually saying when he was screaming (in a clip).
These are just some ideas. If you have anything at all, even if you think it's a stupid idea, PLEASE POST IT IN A REPLY TO THE THREAD, with your thoughts. I promise that I will personally discuss them with you. The audience, as well as my cast, are MY muses. I get ideas from everyone, here. I can't TALK to everyone here, because, that would fuck up my AIM list--but--even the people who have no idea who I am or what this project is about. The strangers and new-comers to Natural Disasters. Everyone is welcome to express their thoughts.
I encourage discussion on our presentation threads. I value EVERYONE'S opinion, here.

This came out really awesome Tom!
Your mixing's so superb and I totally loved your voice in this. The monologue itself sounded very nice with the close and distant relationship between Johnny and his sister.I escpecially liked the line: If there's one thing I can say about the old high wire kids is that we're a lit-stick a dynamite when we work together.I thought it was a really touching and cool line for the relationship about this brother and sister duo.I really grasped onto while listening to this.I really dug Tamtu's angry man voice.^^ All in all this was another spectacular mix and I hope more people will comment cuz you just gotta hear Tom's awesome performance!

This was very well written. Very believable in context. For that it was very enjoyable and you really wanted to sit and stay listening to him speak. I always enjoy your radio plays because they are real. They hit home. You really can get lost in them because the dialogue is so fresh and real-world. It was just really really well done Tom.
The Mixing was sparatic in the beginning and end and in a way that it sucked you in. I know it made me think "What I am getting myself into? What am I going to be listening to? It was very surprising just like a lot of the stuff that you produce and it is just so different. You really have such a knack for anything audible and I really cannot wait to hear what is to come next.
I am sure whatever it is, it will be truly amazing!

Yummy! It's a bit of a change from the Johnnie Hywyre I'm used to (from the first bumper trailer), but I enjoy it. I love how raw and honest your character sounds from beginning to end - he really draws the listener in and is like, "Hey beeyatch, I've got a story to tell, so sit your ass down and shut up and listen to me."
Which you end up doing, because you're really curious about what he's going to say, but Tom is a tease and only gives you a minute or so to listen before it's over and you're left wanting more.
So yeah! I can't wait to hear whatever you come up with next for this series. ^^
EDIT: Well, the wait for more wasn't very long. I don't have much else to add, as both were extremely well written, mixed and performed. I heart Jenna muchly. <3

This clip smacks of anti-semitism.
Especially TamTu's performance.

Like Stephy said, through the course of the clip Johnny's words slowly drew me in until the end, which really caught me off guard (a good thing). Thrillingly fast-paced. I had to listen to it a few times again. Loved the mixing at the end, especially on TamTu.
EDIT: Glad to see the other clip up.

Mary Jane seems quite the mystery. Can't wait to see the full release in all its glory. Curious to what kind of shit everyone's got themselves into. To see how Matt and TamTu's characters tie in with one another, if they do, that is.
Goes without saying, great job Jenna and Matt, and Tom on the mix.

I really love Tom's attitude towards his cast members and his plays. He really takes it seriously and is keen to hear your input on both the characters and the plot. I know most people would think 'what's the point, it is just a radioplay' but it makes the difference between something that sounds quite amateruish and something with that little bit more class
As Tom said, the monologue was more for our benefit but I am glad he released it as it shows a more human side to Johnny. There is also a lot of potential to explore what happened to both the Hywyre kids when they were growing up and how they both became like they are now.
I decided I would record the Mary Jane monologue straight after hearing Tom's one and I did it all in one take (except the **** you bit). On reflection I could probably have improved on the clip but I think it would have lost its spontaneity maybe. I dunno, anyway I like how it turned out in the end and it certainly makes me want to know what happens next!
Stay Tuned...
