An audio short story based upon the characters of the mass-author, mass-multimedia format series Kazahana Family Mass Battle. Think of it as Battle Royale only with an entire family as the participants. All 600 of them. And the battlefield being the entire island of Japan. With a large cast of unique and ultimately disposable characters.... Who is the one amongst them who will survive the odds, and claim the almighty family legacy???

In this clip, the duties of a Judge of the KFMB are examined, specifically the first duty: To ensure the complete media, political and police procedural blackout during the course of the mass battle. Hideaki Kazahana has been unwillingly volunteered to demonstrate the results of such a duty, carried out by Nozomi Watanabe.

Nick Tiner - In all honesty, I have absolutely no complaints about your performance or the quality of your lines. It's all good.... Great, even! You've given Hideaki a nicely nervous and sincere (in his lying) personality and that's about what I was looking for this role and then some! Kudos to you! Good screaming and not afraid of volume too!

Nikki Wright - You need to be in more stuff, girl. You got that wonderfully dry, mildly sarcastic and totally serious femme fatale voice going on there. I had a bit of a quality issue with your lines (sounded like you applied one too many noise reduces to the lines) but it's all good! Nothing life dehibilitating or what not. I would have upped the "anger moments" for Nozomi as well, but considering the time you were recording and my madcrazy urge to mix right now now NOW that was easy to work around.

Edwyn Tiong - Yeah, whatever. @_@

In any case, I hope you enjoy this little snippet of chaos that is the world of Kazahana!

And, yes.. recording at 3:30 in the morning is a bit difficult to be angry. >D I did my best though. ^.^

Anyway, as always, Edwyn, your mixing is lovely. The SFX and the music and such were perfectly timed so that it did allow for the giggles that you'd hoped for when writing it.

Nick's take on the character was much different than I had expected, but in a good way. The way he delivered his lines had this natural flow of anxious worriedness that just totally worked for the character. I think, maybe, the laughter had more to do with it, than anything, too.

As for me... mm. Yes. Quietness. You did your best with what you had. Thanks for putting up with it. >D;;

And Edwyn: Your narration = kick ass.

Edwyn-Your narration I thought rocked!You have the perfect storytelling voice for narration,considering narration can be difficult to do at times but you pulled it off very professionally.^^

Nick-Wow,your voice is so versatile.I enjoyed the amount of emotion you put into this character. The quality sounded really nice as well. I found no fault at all.

Nikki-I think your voice is one of those voices that can be used for anything. You have this interesting uniqueness to your voice that can simply blend into anything.I personally loved your Nozomi voice.I won't bother go into putting more of an intensed voice for the angered parts since you did do this at 3:30 in the morning.^^ But all in all you did great!

As for the mixing,this came out very crisp and clear and very fliud in it's quality.I give this two thumbs up!

I'm always interested in the Kazahana series. This one was pretty interesting. Amusing indeed. Journalism being my career choice its easy to relate to Hideaki's predicament. He has the true comedic anime sound. It's so awesome. Edwyn's narration is pretty good. The mixing, brilliant.

Nikki: I'm sorry for basically throwing those lines at you at the hour and saying "Hey! I'm mad crazy wide awake and I want to mix! RECUD THESE LINES 4 ME PLZJTHX????". My god. I'm almost as bad as some flash producers out there. @_@ But you really pulled through considering the circumstances and I give mucho kudos for the work you did in the given circumstances. Plus, you rock as Nozomi-chan. You can be commanding and authoritative on me ANY day, rawr! Although since I'm your uncle and all, that would be kinda sick. Ew.

And yeah, Nick rocked very nicely as Hideaki. His insanely nerve-wracked laughter is something that is to be admired!

As the mastermind behind Hideaki's character both creating his background story and core personality, I am truly estatic to see that he's been acknowledged by the Kazahana creative community.

First off my hat goes of to Nikki and Nick for playing two characters we haven't really heard a lot of lately. Nikki is a natural choice for Nazomi. Gotta love the cold and calculating delievery. I think that a majority of Nazomi's annoyance from the clip came from the fact that Ms. Wright was recording at three in the mourning. Some people suffer for the craft.

Then Nick. Nick, Nick, Nick. You did an excellent job bringing my character to life. I myself struggled with how the man would sound. I knew for sure that it required a somewhat deeper voice that I myself did not possess. You nailed the character man. Consider yourself Hideaki's offical voice.

Hi, Edwyn! I just think your take on audio dramas is the funniest thing! :) I swear to god, it's like if an Iparty with you in it slithered out of the program and performed a surreal, twistedly, Edwynly, out-of-body aural experience.

P.S. This particular presentation sounded just like one of those whacky cool cult Animes! Yay, Nick and Nikki!

GForce: I'm glad you liked his clip, especially since the character you created is in it and all. I'm especially happy that you felt I did justice to the character: I too wondered why he wasn't being as utilised as often in other productions as he should have been. My plan is to use some of the less seen characters in the following episodes of this series as well, though it should be noted they're all Judges from here on in. There really are a great number of already-existing fascinating characters in this series that need more utilisation.

And speaking of people that need more utilisation: Nikki really needs to appear in more stuff with that voice of hers, yes indeed! I was struck by an intriguing thought, actually: since Nozomi is a "mini-Muga" (according to her character profile, anyway) that cold, calculating voice of hers may be something she picked up from (or is consciously imitating) Muga. Or something like that. It's a little character nuance that I didn't think about until Nikki turned in her lines. Then again, maybe all Judges are taught to be that cool and slightly menacing, I dunno. O.o I still like my initial idea. XD

And I too, was wonderfully surprised by Nick's performance: I didn't really give him a lot of direction on what to do with the character and was pleasantly shocked by the way he delivered it. It certainly wasn't what I was looking for when I thought about it, but it more than ably fit his character (from the script that I had written) and is yet another great character voice by him to add to the world of Kazahana, along with Agawa!

Tom Galang: I don't know how much of this can be considered an "out-of-body" experience: I mix pretty plainly, I think. But I'm glad you enjoyed this clip in that way, anyway! And yes, definitely an anime-like sound to the proceedings, as nature intended.

Yay, another small piece of the Kazahana universe, in radio play form. I always enjoy your stuff Edwyn, you’re always able to paint a picture in my head to where I can clearly see what’s going on. This once came out very animated, with a quick pace and great comedic timing. Nick, you added so much to this radio play, the almost explosive amount of energy displayed had me literally laughing out loud (to the point where random people on the street were looking at me funny XD). And Nikki take on a judge was great as well, trying to be patient while annoyed, and the gradual build-up of anger were all well done and added to the amusement that this clip provided.
As always, awesome stuff Edwyn. =D
