Yo. Massive lurker ahoy. (Reeeeaaaally hoping this is in the right forum...)

Anyone know of a handy way to make a decent intercom effect on Audacity, like the sort of sound effect one might get over a city-wide PA system?

Asked Sukisho something like this a little back, apparently you can tweak "telephone call" filters to match it it.

I can understand the bandpass filters; after all, most small-speaker communication devices are designed to produce only midrange audio, but what about dynamic range compression? Intercoms are compressed to an extreme degree in order to remove all dynamic range, thereby making the speaker legible over a wide range of different types of devices and different distances from mouth to microphone.
