All these different types of recording programs and strategies.
Wow, I never expected this. @ o @

Eh, I'm more plain. I used to just use sound recorder, but now I'm using Audacity. It's mostly because I need to get a job, but I'm starting classes next month ^^'
I've been using Audacity for recording and some of the editing. Though I do have a question with the hardware. Right now I am using an ok microphone. But how would I be able to reduce the amount of breath that is heard on my recordings? On each of the ones I have done so far I hear the P's and B's pushing air on the mic.
I use Cool Edit Pro for recording. Then take the exported .wav file to Adobe Audition CS5 for editing and mixing.. I never get a clear recording if I record it in CS5.. So, Cool Edit pro works best for that..
^ You can get rid of all the puffs using a pop filter which you can easily prepare at home.

Used to use Audacity; it's simple and does its job well but it loves to crash (apparently an update helped to fix this?), particularly on Windows. Now I use Adobe Audition because my school is awesome and gave out some Adobe packs to those who wanted them, and though it can be a little more fiddly, it's pretty damn powerful.
@Mordercai: I think what you need is a pop filter. You can buy one from a music store, or you can ghetto one from a clothes hanger and some pantyhose. Alternatively, angle your mouth slightly differently so you're not speaking at the mic, but still in the polar zone so it records the sound properly.
I use Reaper for recording. It does the job well, especially for multitrack recordings.
I use audacity

I use Mixcraft 5, but I do music mixing as well for my band so... That in combination with the video capabilities I'm all set with this one program ^_^
well I use Audacity for all my recording and for all of my mixing. It is easy to use so... yeah.
