Warning: Heavy Spoilers for Madoka Magica. Please view that series first, at least until Episode 10.
A young girl, huddles draped in blankets, hiding away from the world. Betrayed by her father, betrayed by the people, betrayed by her friends. She’s an outcast, daughter of a corrupt man, a scapegoat for his fraud as he left his life behind. Her heart has been shattered. Before her eyes is a flash of white and a smiling face, offering a chance to escape this torment. She has never wished before, and she will never wish again. She stands up, determined, and makes her contract. “I wish I knew my purpose; the meaning of my life!”
A young girl shies away from her classmates, her family, anyone she sees. Her head down, her face hidden. She can’t bring herself to open her mouth or her heart to anyone. One day, she sees another girl, a beautiful girl, at the train station. Obviously, that other girl was from another school. The first girl is absolutely captivated, and stole glances whenever she could. But still, she couldn’t say a word, even when the other girl was so nice and kind. Bright red eyes and an eerie smile approached, offering a chance to become who she wants. She has never wished before, and she will never wish again. She knows she has to be a different person. “I wish I could change for her!”
A young girl, tiny and inexperienced, has already lived a hard life. Her mother spits at her and screams at her, blaming the girl for everything wrong with her life. She is only eight, yet has scars lining her forehead and dotting her body, reminders of the burns she regularly receives. One day, in a blur of gore and confusion, her mother is before her and torn to shreds by a monster she can barely comprehend. A red-haired girl appears, destroying the monster before the little girl is the last victim. Terrified, yet still strong, she clings to her saviour and soon it’s like she has an older sister. But warned by a foreboding woman in white, she hears that her honorary sister is close to death, limbs ripped from her body. She’s panicking. She has to be useful, she has to do something. The white animal she met before sits above her with a knowing stare. She has never wished before, and she will never wish again. She has to prove her worth. “I want to help her, I want to be useful!”
A crimson girl hears rumors of useless destruction of life where her former best friend lives. It’s not like she cares, but that tiny flicker of justice she thought she had quelled compels her to go and help. She never thought she’d find a young girl, reminiscent of herself, sitting in a puddle of blood and guts after she had taken care of an errant witch. She reluctantly takes the little girl under her wing, and tries to uncover the mystery behind the magical girl murders. …Not like she cares.
Unencumbered by a promise that will never be fulfilled, a golden girl has continued to live despite the fact a dying magical girl has told her of random attacks from another, mysterious magical girl. Her former student and former best friend has returned to the city, but she cannot try to truly repair their shattered relationship just yet. For now, this intense injustice must be stopped.
The dark-haired girl refuses to help. Everything is going so well for her. The self-sacrificial girl and the volatile girl under her care have yet to make any contact with the magical world and remain completely ignorant. However, all three as well as the gentle girl who has never been involved before are thrust into swirling madness with death possible at every step. It’s just become personal.
Q&A
Q: Kamuro, what is this? Another doujinshi or fanfiction thing like the genderbend manga you did?
A: Nope, this is 100% official. If you’re just someone who enjoyed Madoka Magica and then moved on to the next anime that interested you, you probably haven’t heard of the two spinoffs. Puella Magi Kazumi Magica (which I intend to dub in the future), is a monthly manga that’s still ongoing starring a new set of magical girls, and began halfway through the airing on the anime. Puella Magi Oriko Magica is an interquel set during one of Homura’s timeloops (thus proving there’s at least more than the five shown in-series).
Q: Oh, it must be pretty good, then?
A: Hm, it’s alright. The art is fairly bad most of the time, and I just don’t see the point of it existing – it doesn’t add anything new to the canon, unlike Kazumi Magica. However, it’s still fun to read and the characters are pretty awesome. It’s also getting a sequel thingy soon.
Q: So, who’s up for grabs?
A: So far, Yuma and Oriko. For the others, they’ve either already been scouted or I have some people in mind. If I am unable to scout them, then they’ll pop up here.
Q: And what exactly are you doing for this?
A: It won't be a full mangadub 'cause that would require too much work. Instead, it'll be more abridged in the traditional sense of the word. So some characters won't appear - from what I've decided so far, Sayaka, Hitomi and Saotome-sensei won't appear and I'm still debating on Madoka. It's not like those three have any influence on the plot other than Saotome-sensei filling the Somebody Gets Eaten Somehow role. That is a terrible running gag, Puella Magi series.
Q: Do I sense Touhou?
A: Why, yes! The artist did Touhou doujinshi. Try not to make Touhou jokes; I know nothing about it beyond bullet hell and awesome music.
Q: Kirika looks pretty similar to Sayaka.
A: I know, huh? More crazy, though. Yes, you read that right.
Q: Don’t you have other stuff you should be doing.
A: Study? Yes. This is for stress relief between exams. Mixing is peaceful when your computer doesn’t lag to hell and back.
Q: No, I mean, other dubs.
A: Ah. Well, I do want to finish off Metropolis when I feel I have the time (gotta bother for some lines, too). With King of Thorn, well, my formatting exploded and I did not want to fix it up. I got some good auditions, but I couldn’t bring myself to post a cast list. Also, an official dub was spontaneously announced which kind of sapped my will.
Q: Kamuro get over this series
A: There are movies coming out in October! And then another one later!
Q: Kamuro
A: Kazumi Magica’s not done yet! Shit continues to get real!
Q: Kamuro
A: Oh, and I’m pretty sure the movie trailer is reverse-double-trolling. I just know it.
Q: Kamuro stop
A: You know, there aren’t very many good MadoHomu fanfiction around. I mean, chaptered, not oneshots.
Q: Kamuro what the hell are you talking about
A: Fan stuff. Okay. That’s not the point. The point is, you auditioning. Or looking, if you’re a guy. Sorry, it’s a magical girl manga/show. They have like a 5:1 girl-to-guy ratio. I might have Hisaomi (Oriko’s father) up, but he’s a middle-aged man and very few guys audition for them.
Yuma Chitose
Age: Around 8 years old
Voice Type: Medium-high to high, childish but strong when she needs to be.
Bio: A young girl from an abusive family. Her mother was killed by a witch and Kyouko saves her before she becomes witch food herself. She comes to adore Kyouko like a proper parental figure (even though she picked a pretty bad role model), and when Kyouko is on the verge of death she leaps in and contracts, healing her wounds. She can be rather wise and insightful, but is still a child. A little like Madoka, she has self-esteem issues and wants to be useful (but in Yuma’s case, she had been put down and told that she was worthless and useless by her mother). She fills some of Sayaka’s role in helping Kyouko develop past her bitter, aggressive, mocking, Darwinist attitude. Yuma’s magical girl outfit is a little bit childish and makes her look like a catgirl, and her weapon is a hammer with kitty ears and a tail. Her main ability is healing others.
Cast To: Lunate [Confirmed]
Understudy: Xaoc [Confirmed... sorta?]
Oriko Mikuni
Age: Around 15 years old
Voice Type: Medium low to medium high, soft and sophisticated. Feel free to try some sort of English accent if you want, but it’s not necessary.
Bio: Adopted daughter of a politician, she is bright and intelligent. She attends a selective girls’ school, separate to the other girls of the series. However, her father was the center of a scandal when he committed suicide to prevent being blamed for embezzling the city’s funds. Instead, it shifted all to her despite being a middle-school student. She contracts with Kyubey to find out what the purpose of her life is and gains the ability to see the future – and the first thing she sees is an utterly obliterated Mitakihara. She manages to find the source immediately, and thus sets off the plot. She has an odd hat but a nice dress, and she uses orbs to attack. Naturally, she’s not very good at attacking, but her future-sight ability means that’s she’s pretty hard to beat.
Cast To: Jiah
Understudy: Eric Cartman [Confirmed!]
Joining you in this cavalcade of madness:
Kirika Kure: Tomoyo Ichijouji
Kyouko Sakura: ???
Mami Tomoe: ???
Homura Akemi: eile-monty
Still not 100% set on whether I want Madoka to have a speaking role or not. I can do without, but it might add something... hmm... Dunno. Watch this space.
Well, thank you for auditioning, and remember, only five can lad-
