Give VA Advice for Going Pro

I thought this may help with those wanting to go pro & such.

Just post any advice here that you think may be helpful.

EDIT: This is supposed to be aimed at anyone on the VAA interested in going pro.

Ouch Sh3rl0ck, be nice. Well Justin, some information would be helpful. How long have you been voice acting? What area do you live in? Have you taken acting classes and have you any acting experience outside of voice acting?

Did anyone even READ the first post!? This is aimed at ANYONE wanting to pro. You're supposed to give helpful advice to anyone wanting to go pro. Personally I'm more interested in voice directing.

Don't joke around and handle everything professionally. Most times, getting your hopes up will most likely result in someone pushing you down.

Attitude. I have heard numerous stories about people with bad attitudes and it immediately ruins things for you. Confidence is nice but don't get cocky. Also, don't storm away with a pout if something doesn't go your way.

Mainly though to quote Michael McConnohie "The director is always right...no matter how wrong they are" so yeah just do whatever the director wants and don't complain (unless your buddy buddy enough with them).

Biggest bit of advice for someone looking to go pro? Don't be an asshole. I know this sounds like a swipe, but I'm serious. A bad attitude will burn so many bridges that your skill as an actor or director will become irrelevant because no one will want to work with you.
