  1. #1 "Mixing"
Well, I tried to search this and I had no luck whatsoever.

My friend wants me to make a fandub, I think I have the jist of it down, the only part that confuses is me is when people say "mixing the audio, etc".

My question is how do I do that and what program is the best?
Please excuse me lame and noobness.

Mixing the audio basically means putting in sound effects, music and vocals. I usually always start with the BGM and then do the SFX afterwards but some people find mixing the SFX first is best. Vocals almost always go in last.

I use Sony Vegas for all mixing. If I need something edited, pitched, to have an effect, etc, I use Audacity or WavePad. Audacity and WavePad are free, Sony Vegas you need to pay for. Alot of people start out using Windows Movie Maker but it takes much longer to get anything done with WMM as there are no multilayers.

Well in order to do a fandub you're going to need voices from several people, music, and sound effects. "Mixing" is essentially taking that big mess of sounds and putting them into your fandub in the right order at the right volume.

Adobe Premiere, Audacity, VirtualDub and Cool Edit Pro are common tools. But there are lots of other ones out there. If you look around the site lots of people suggest other resources as well.

    EDIT:
And for the record, I do: Voices then SFX then music.
So apparently everyone does it differently.

I usually start with the Vocals, then music and SFX last, but yeah that stuff can be laid out anyway you feel.

As for "what program is best" that can also depend on what type of Computer you have. Like if you are using a MAC then a good program could be Final Cut Pro, or if using a PC then Sony Vegas. A program that works on either would be Adobe Premiere. There's plenty of various programs listed in this Resources thread, of both Free and Paid variety and which type of computer system.

    Ohhh!
    Okay.

I thought that was mixing, but I just wanted to be sure.
I have vegas, and I'm probably going to get Adobe shortly.
