Hello everyone. I'm looking to recruit some voice actors for a cartoon a friend and I would like to pitch. I already have a working teleplay completed, as well as an incredibly talented concept artist on board. He'll be providing the preliminary designs + storyboards.
The only condition is that this won't be a completely polished animation; I'm only receiving a conceptualized storyboard at the moment. Just a proof-of-concept that my partner and I can show off and (hopefully) pique the attention of some big names. Regardless of if this takes off or not, we'll be submitting the animatic to deviantart + newgrounds in order to garner feedback. Please be advised that this work is volunteer and non-paid.
Right now, we need voice actors to breathe some life into this project. If you accept this task (and you will), please post voice samples so we can evaluate how much you fit the bill.
Warning: Soft-spoken introverts need not apply. We need vivacious "theatrefags" who are fluent, coherent, and (most importantly) animated. Don't be bashful or reluctant to get loud when necessary. Note: Certain lines REQUIRE yelling.
But I digress. The cartoon (or, pitch, rather) is called "ZING!" The premise is that our protagonist, the titular Zing (a multicolored bird of paradise), is a relapsing heroin addict. The only stipulation is that his dependency is never blatantly stated, but rather implied through subtle hints that give nuance to his crippling condition. We're going for a "Rocko's Modern Life" deal here; while ZING! is ostensibly a kid's show, the various double entendres and innuendoes should make it entertaining to adults as well. The pilot involves Zing trying to recover his purloined "lucky kit" (which obviously contains the paraphernalia required to inject heroin, but, hey, the kiddies won't know that!) from the dastardly "Narcosaurus Rex," a doofy tyrannosaur narcotics officer who "never gets to have any fun." This is because, as we all know, those who don't subscribe to the consuming and/or condoning of hard drugs are no fun whatsoever. (Okay, that was sarcasm, but you should get the point.)

MALES:
Name: Zing Smackadoo:
Age: 27
Bio: A perpetually ireful bird of paradise. His drug of choice is heroin. Incredibly abusive, irritable, and sarcastic. Isn't afraid to let loose and erupt into vicious tirades.
Voice Type: He speaks with a "cynical Brit" accent, but errs more on the angry side. If I had to compare how I imagine his voice I'd liken it to someone like Yahtzee or foreverpandering.
Audition Line 1:
"Deals on wheels… Chinese red-light district. Curb-side special offer on our… Lucky Kit! Tar and feather, that's 'xactly what I need! Get me my wings back!"
Audition Line 2:
"Me lucky kit! STOLEN! Jacked, pilfered, from my cold, sweaty palms like a dame's newborn! Oh the shame, oh the humanity, the indignation… Why, I'll throttle the sorry sod who I find what's done this horrible act!"
Name: Blaze Dragginbud:
Age: 26
Bio: A lax, lackadaisical, and all-around lethargic purple dragon. His drug of choice is (you'd never guess) marijuana. Essentially a polar opposite and foil to Zing. Carefree and easygoing, Blaze idles away his time at the beach or the public park, tucked away in own fried little stupor. Best friends with Zing despite always being the token of abuse; their relationship is akin to Ren and Stimpy.
Voice Type: His voice is a lazy, "surfer-dude" drawl, similar to Michelangelo or Crush from Finding Nemo.
Audition Line 1:
"What's the rush, man? You gotta sloooooooow down. Chillax. Smell the roses."
Audition Line 2:
"Zing, I don't mean to SUGERCOAT the truth, but it looks as if you've been cut by that creme bru-lade!"
Name: Narcosaurus Rex:
Design: TBD
Age: 30
Bio: The antagonist. A dino narcotics officer who behaves like the typical "manchild." Vehemently despises all those around him for having fun, while he marinates in his own childish despair. He's a giant brute who can crush you in the blink of an eye, but appears pitiful and almost endearing in his silliness. He constantly tries to appear intimidating but fails miserably.
Voice Type: His voice... is incredibly high-pitched, but unnaturally so. ObnoxiousDoucheAlt is a great example of how I imagine his voice (and, arguably, what spawned the character in the first place). Basically, you'd take your own, authentic voice, and adjust it through some voice-editing software (like audacity), making the pitch very high and shrill.

"Why? WHY?! BECAUSE YOU DIMBLEDORKS
LEFT POOR OLD NARCOSAURUS ALL ALONE.
AND I NEVER GET TO HAVE ANY FUN. NOT
EVEN ON VALENTINE'S DAY!"
