Project information –
Clear and to the point, this particular production is a trailer introduction to a project I am breaking ground on in the next few months. At the current moment I am mixing certain portions while also working on a couple of remaining scripts. For the moment I am only casting certain minor roles that are in the trailer, and only ONE main character that pertains to the overall story.
(Main Project Info)
Asylum - A story revolving around two main characters bound by a rocky past. Both are trying to survive a disease outbreak that has turned humans against humans in a blood bath of murder and violence. (More info to be released at a later date.)
Rated – PG13 (strong language might appear randomly throughout the script, nothing over the top verbally. Also contains violence and implied cannibalism. No sexual situations of any kind.)

Characters -
MALES:
Name: Radio Personality #1
Role: Minor
Age: 25-30
Bio: Simply put, he’s a DJ for a radio station.
Voice type: Nothing announcer-ish, please try to keep the voice natural sounding. Smooth, clear, personable. Medium to medium low range. No accent.
Audition line 1: “In other news, a bizarre incident downtown earlier today; A man accused of biting a woman on the leg while she was standing in line at her local grocery store. Police apprehended the suspect who onlookers said seemed unaware of what was happening. Some went as far as to say he appeared intoxicated and was rambling incoherently as officials took him away.”
Please include two takes of the line.
Name: Radio Personality #2
Role: Minor
Age: 25-30
Bio: A rookie DJ for a different radio station.
Voice type: A greenhorn with being on air, a little over the top, not quite personable and a bit perturbed by what he is reading. Medium range. I would like to hear a New York or Brooklyn type accent applied but you may also try a normal, non-accent take as well.
Audition line 1: “So, did ya hear about the broad that attacked that guy?...Police are saying this is a random occurrence straight out of a horror film, man! A woman accused of attacking a man in Westerfield Park today. Officials said their mounted police took notice when they heard the poor S.O.B. screaming. When they got to the scene, they found a woman sprawled out on top of this random guy… biting… him. Biting the guy? Seriously, must have been her time of the month! Not just cravin’ chocolate any more eh? –chuckle- (a bit sexist with this remark)”
Please include two takes of the line.
Name: Radio Personality #3
Role: Minor
Age: 30-40
Bio: Random radio DJ.
Voice type: Older, more established. Not your average over the top DJ, more refined. Almost the quality of a news reporter, or television news anchor. Medium – Medium low range. Accent not required, but if you think you might have something that would sound good then by all means please try a take!
Audition line 1: “Military protocol is now actively in effect. We have been informed that an evacuation order has been delivered to our Mayor. Beginning tonight at five p.m. all civilians are required to report to City Hall for screening. Those that do not comply… Are subject to use of deadly force.” (Leaving the booth, quietly speaking away from the microphone} “May God help us.”
Please include two takes of this line.
Name: News Reporter
Role: Minor
Age: 25-30
Bio: Rookie news reporter on the scene downtown when all hell breaks loose. During his report he is trying to get people fleeing the scene to tell him what is happening.
Voice type: Trying to be serious and on the ball but with the insanity going on around him he’s obviously nervous, bumbling lines and sounding a bit frantic at times. Still trying to remain calm and get the scoop on what exactly has happened down town. Medium range. No accent.
Audition line 1: “We’re not entirely sure what exactly is going on but we’re getting word that basically… All hell has broken loose downtown. From here we can hear a lot of commotion, and we see a lot of people running from that direction, also there’s a large plume of smoke coming from what appears to be the area near City Hall. So far we can’t seem to get anyone to speak to us, everyone is in a real panic. Excuse me. Ms.! Excuse me…” –Running up to someone on the sidewalk- “Ms. Can you please tell us, what happened down town? Spare a moment, please!” –Following the quick paced woman-
Please include two takes of the line.
Audition line 2: -Gurgled screams, dying sounds etc.- (You can include these random sounds in one clip)
FEMALES:
Name: Radio Personality #4
Role: Minor
Age: 20-30
Bio: Radio DJ
Voice type: Nothing over the top cutesy, or announcer-ish. Try to remain personable yet slightly put off and a bit shocked at what she’s reading. Professional despite it. Medium to Medium high range. If any accent is applied I would personally like to hear a form of Southern US, nothing “hillbilly”.
Audition line 1: “New developments in the horrific incident involving the man accused of attacking and killing his wife in their suburban home. Construction Foreman, Thomas Everett had been home from work for the past week with what his doctor referred to as Cerebral Edema or swelling of the brain. The culprit was infection to which was prescribed several antibiotics. Officials said he was found hovering over his wife, whose throat had been torn out, with his face and upper body soaked in blood. When police tried to subdue him he violently lashed out, scratching and biting at the officers. This is the third attack that we know of in the last two months where the assailants were afflicted with this so called Infection. Scientists studying the outbreak are baffled, unable to tell us much about what exactly is happening to these people.”
Please include two takes of the line.
Name: Angelina Gray
Role: Main
Age: 28
Bio: Angelina is trouble through and through. A former alcoholic, she has pretty much pissed away the relationships in her life. However now, almost in her thirties she has seemingly got a handle on things. Working with people has never been her strongest attribute, she prefers to be alone. She keeps herself occupied running a military supply store, fixing and customizing firearms. Calm, cool and collected under pressure but quick to anger and violence if provoked.
Voice type: Calm, collected with an edge, a bit gruff and to the point at times. Remains in control of her emotions, but not monotone. Looking for a medium to medium low range here. Accents are not required, but I might consider one if you think something might suit… Try it and we’ll see! This role will require some yelling, high emotions, possible screaming/distress and definitely fight sounds.
Audition line 1: “By the tenth week it had spread across most parts of the central U.S. It came without warning, as these things most often do. But all of the signs were there. We were just too blissfully unaware and mentally unavailable to entertain any derailment of our picture perfect life styles. Ten weeks. You’d think that would be long enough to notice the world going to shit.”
Audition line 2: (Approached and questioned by a reporter on the sidewalk) “Are you fucking kidding me? People are eating one another! Get the hell outta’ here…” (hurriedly brushing the reporter aside)
Audition line 3: Simply do some grunts, fight sounds, distress noises, light growls of annoyance, and screams of frustration and fear. (You may save all of these random sounds to one file.)
Please include two takes of lines #1 and #2.
If you are chosen for the role of Angelina please make sure you are willing to commit to the role in the main production. I will keep you briefed on the writing process and how things are progressing. You will not be given short notice for anything either…! Expect a lot of contact so please be available to chat now and again even if only through e-mail.
