Anyone else mad that it's 2012 and we got no flying cars, space colonies, robots or anything like that?

I was talking about this in Vanilla Milkshake's hangout and I figured, "Hey, this is good enough for the VAA"

Well, I guess it depends on your definition of flying cars, space colonies, and robots.

It appears we are skipping the "let's go out to space to get space resources" part of colonization and are instead making all the space reasources come to us (according to a consortium of multi-billionaire CEOs and James Cameron, no less):

So the future is looking less like us sending people out strapped onto screaming rockets into the cold uncaring void of eternity and more like sending out super-sciency probes to teleport vast resources from exta-solar bodies back to Earth...I don't know which scenario is scarier, because the former just sets us up for dildoship/eggfacerape "Alien" shenanigans, while the latter essentially turns us into the Combine from "Half-Life 2". (forgive the timliest of references)

Sup invade your planet blah blah wreck your shit blah blah coconuts and bananas blah blah evil

I was kinda aiming for Gundams, hoverboards,or an actual motion control system that is not only precise but can actually enhance and not hinder one's gaming experience. That and nanomachines to preserve one's youth.

    I WAS FROZEN TODAY!!!

O.0 (people actually responded to my subject)

I mean, in mass production, y'all

I mean like we can just go to a dealership and be all "I'll take that one" (by the way, that flying car looked more like a minijet than what I was expecting)

As far as the robots are concerned, that'll just make us lazy, but goddangit, I want to be inside of a game like Skyrim so I can be a kickass wildman (a warrior class that specializes in herbology, potion making and various other skills).

The nanomachines will take over our minds and turn us into walking dead (saw it in a movie once, maybe :3)

Then the concept of space colonization just makes me wanna live out in space (that and watching too much Gundam, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z and minor-ly diving into the concept of misanthropy at one time or another). Technically we're living in space now, but I think we should just start taking the idea into consideration that the Earth won't be here forever and we as humans should take some time to start developing a means to live outside of Earth.

And besides, Space Exploration is badass.

Can't wait until I get my engineer degree and start working for NASA
