  1. #1 XLR to USB interface that has no distortion noise
Ok so I posted MANY times here saying the Studio Projects C1 has had a humming noise to it and I was ready to buy another mic to replace it with. However I soon figured out that it wasnt the Studio C1, but was my Alesis Multi Mix

Apparently there has been many complaints on this saying that there has been distortion sound and humming noise coming from the power plug (probably)

So I'm glad to know that it wasnt my mic but my cheap ass equipment >.>

So the question comes here. Does anyone know of an XLR to USB interfaces that has no distortion and has an earphone jack at the very least?

There are quite a few, but how much do you want to spend. If you can go $150-ish, I'd go for the Scarlett 2i2 or Saffire 6.

Check one-two on the microphone . . . samples are HERE.

Another thing you need to consider is the cable: are your XLR cables balanced? Usually, balanced cables are resistant to external noise, while unbalanced cables can be affected by RF interference.

As for an XLR to USB interface, I use the M-Audio Fast Track Mk2, which serves my needs just fine, and has no noise that didn't originate in the room itself.

Do you know what type of XLR cable would work fine?

Balanced cables have three wires that carry the audio signal. The third wire is wrapped around the first two, simultaneously shielding the two wires from outside interference and is also carrying the same signal, reinforcing the first two.

That being said, ignore the recommendation; if you're using XLR, then they are balanced. I was thinking TRS (tip/ring/sleeve), the type of connector that includes both the quarter-inch plug used by some microphones and electric guitars, and the miniplug that so many consumer devices use.

In other words, don't mind me; I'm an idiot.
