Hello! Some of you may have seen my Airborne Pilots Production thread around, so I'd thought I'd make an art thread where I can post some of the concept stuff I've been doing for it (and other random sketches that might pop up every now and then.) If you're curious as to which production it is, it can be found here:
    http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?78898-OPEN-Airborne-Pilots-5M-5F&p=1205693#post1

Other than that, thanks for taking a little of your time to look through! Please do understand that a lot of these are mostly sketches and speedpaints with colour splashed on. I don't really spend much time on what's here (others have been worked on more than others, obviously, and some is stuff I did back when I was in school for stress relievers and, or, were assignments). Hahahahaha....

This was submitted to Pitch Party in Animation magazine which submitted entries and picked entries will get printed in the magazine. I submitted three entries. One made it in, another one was runner up and this one got honourable mention. This is the first designs I did of my pilots, Meyson Grant and TaeWoo Jung. (Illo is the armadillo. ) This is the "child-friendly" version of the picture below.

These are the initial designs for my pilots. They have changed then for easier animation purposes. (And to look older.)

    Roda and Dan

More Pilots. Bianca on the top right was originally designed by Bad Luck (here on the forums). Redesign is by me.

    Meyson and Roda

Dan and Bianca. I had to change Dan because this version looked a lot like one of my classmates back in school (and so it got very weird.) Bianca's original design was done by Bad Luck (here on the forums). Redesign is by me.

Some early development work. Brooke, aka Bravo was originally designed by Bad Luck (here on the forums). Redesign by me. But an early redesign.

    Playing with "haircuts"

    Early Dan work.

    Dan and Roda

Meyson's Plane. Still under development. My pilots also do not fly F-16s anymore but planes from the 40s now.

The "cliche" pilot shot back in the day. I just had to do it.

Old Meyson portrait. He looks younger.

Old Roda Portrait. Looks younger--and a girl.

Anyways, I'll be updating this every now and then. Thanks for looking!

My jaw. Is on the floor. The fact you call these works simply 'splashed' with color... I can't wait to see what the 'proper' art looks like !

TwoDoorCafeClub, thank you so much! I keep going back and redesigning them (there's a point where I will have to really stop, haha.) But I hope you stick with me long enough to see when that time comes! Which should be soon... I'll have to do turnaround for the characters later so my friends and I can use it for reference when the project starts up.

ATheatricalSongBird, thank you, too! I'm glad to hear that you'd be supporting us even if we don't get the chance to work together this time round. I can't wait to see everything be put together too!

Tyllo, thanks for stopping by to look! Gorillaz art style is actually really fun to draw in as well! (: I do so from time to time. And thank you. I've been getting bored of my style lately. I better do something about that.

    ---------------
Here are some pieces today. More of backgrounds stuff for Airborne Pilots. These are actually all old. I have some new sketches for tomorrow. But as late as it is, I won't be able to upload everything today.

This is old stuff, from my original Airborne Pilots animation/animatic. I'm kind of glad that they are not going to be flying things like the F-16 anymore. They will be easier to draw in perspective (and animate, ha!)

These are some new concepts for the production Airborne Pilots, that I'm holding auditions here on VAA.

    Thank you for looking, again!

Wonderful artwork, what a refreshing style. Your project looks great and I look forward to seeing its development! Much luck to you and your team! And lol Capilano xD. I live in Vancouver too (and also an animator).

Thank you, Tiffa! I hope your project goes well, too. I'd like to see it finished one day (I saw the boards on your DA account). Some cool scenes there (:! Maybe I'll bump into you sometime (or have but never knew, ha!). Do you work at a particular studio or are you on freelance?

Here's just a small sketch dump that I'm sharing today. Once again just from sketchbook and threw some colour on it on the computer.

    Thanks for looking, again. (:

Yay, I've been waiting for this! It was your artwork that caught my eye and made me want to audition for your project. Your style is so unique and full of character. I like that most of these designs are balanced somewhere between a cartoony style and something more realistic. Your attention to detail also adds a lot to the characters and the surrounding environments. The amount of love and care you've put into these don't go unnoticed, truly. Beautiful art! Keep 'em coming!

Sup! Thanks for dropping by my DA account! I worked at Delaney & Friends and Bardel Entertainment for a while. Choked on Flash work (Buzz on Maggie) and decided just to freelance on the side. Not a fan of the contract-to-contract work sicne I have regular bills to pay. xD Just not my prefered lifestyle and I'd rather work on classical animation than flash/3d. I went to VFS a long time ago lol. Do you work in studios, or recent grad?
