Nuti's first voice samples! Help the beginner to start!

So! I finally did this! My first audio samples!

Some notes at first:

1. I KNOW THE QUALITY IS TERRIBLE. But I hope that will be fixed as I get a proper mic. :3 Now I recorded this with the mic of my laptop... whose fan ROARS... and tried to get worst noise away with Audacity. Still, I hope you get even some idea about my voice!
2. I am not native English speaker (I'm a Finn), and I don't know how to get rid off my accent. Yet.

1. Crying
2. Child
3. Fangirl facing a disappointment
4. Therapist
5. "Someone is in my apartment!"

If you bother to listen to this and comment this, I'd like to get answers to, for example, these questions:

1. Major pros and cons of my acting? Especially CONS.
2. Hints for getting rid of the worst accent? (Or what are biggest things in my accent? I'm deaf for it.)
3. How would you describe my voice? Low, medium, high? Soft, strong? I have a voice identity crisis.
4. What kind of characters or character types I could try to voice act? (With my voice and accent.) Ideas?
5. Would you like to hear other emotions/character types from me in the next audio sample collection? If so, what?
6. Hints for the next collections?
7. Something else?

I couldn't quite understand you most of the time, but I believe that has to do with the thick accent and the poor quality of the mic. You already addressed those issues so I won't comment on them again ^_^ The only other thing was some of the emotion sounded a little forced. Try making the emotions sound more natural. Heh, I have this issue myself!

Best advice I have been given on accents, whether it be to learn one, or lose one, has been to listen to natives speak the language and just copy them. It takes time but it's the only way I have learned.


3. How would you describe my voice? Low, medium, high? Soft, strong? I have a voice identity crisis.

When I listened to your clips the ones that stood out the most to me, and had the least accent, were your deeper voices. They also sounded the most natural to my ears.


4. What kind of characters or character types I could try to voice act? (With my voice and accent.) Ideas?

Personally I think you could probably go out for a wide variety of characters. Your lower voice could easily handle those sexy females you always find in Anime. Don't limit yourself! Try to fit all sorts of characters, and practice!


5. Would you like to hear other emotions/character types from me in the next audio sample collection? If so, what?

I would like to hear some stronger females, perhaps like a battle scene... High emotion. A sultry seductress would also be good!


6. Hints for the next collections?

Hints? None really, you're already working on getting a new mic ^_^ Just practice, practice, practice!


7. Something else?

Try out for LOTS of roles, never limit yourself. If you want to do something, DO IT, and do it to the best of your abilities. Then surpass those abilities!

I haven't got the mic yet, but I realized that I'll have a problem... the fan of my laptop makes quite a noise, no matter how few programs I'm using. Do you think it had big influence to the recording? :S If so, I have to come up with another computer with which to record... school computers are not okay, as they are in big rooms where the voice echoes... aaagh. D:

Replied to your PM! Also as far as American accented, or plain accented characters... A really good one for a sexy female is Lust from FMA. She speaks slowly and drawls out the words so they are easy to emulate. Giver 'er a try! If you want of course ;p

Hmmm, I think I could try her. According to some testing, I can't be her American voice actress's sound-a-like (neither is she the seiyuu's sound-a-like), but at least I can take some model from her voice and I have actual lines to try. Plus, as she talks slowly, it makes things easier for me: I have big difficulties when I try to say English words fast.

I think that my biggest challenge might be setting my brain into Lust channel: our personalities are really, really different... so I have to improve my acting skills! Hmmm... and if I want to train just seducing voice I could try to voice Lust in Finnish. Maybe I could try both English and Finnish versions for comparison

You should totally try both English and Finnish! I would love to hear them once you feel comfortable Getting into that "mode" is a great challenge for yourself, it will definitely work out those acting skills.
