Avatar: Legend of Korra parody of song "I'll Make a Man Out of You"
"I'll Bend the Hell Out of You"
Hi, everyone! This is my first post here because I'm excited about this. I'm assuming you already know about The Legend of Korra, the sequel set 70 years after the Nickelodeon's The Legend of Aang. It's got all us fans in a buzz and one of the brilliant minds on tumblr, thecatbureau, came up with lyrics for a parody for Disney's Mulan song "I'll Make a Man Out of You" called "I'll Bend the Hell Out of You." A lot of talented people on YouTube have made covers for it, but only as Korra, and I thought it'd be great to have other characters have even just a few lines in it, too. And where better to look than here?

There is one main female singer and three males and one female for the 'chorus'. If you're familiar with the original song, "I'll Make a Man Out of You," basically Korra is Shang and the other characters are Yao, Chien Po, Ling, and Mulan. You may audition for more than one character.
(oh, and tiny spoilers ahead concerning the characters if you haven't watched episodes 6&7 yet.)

So I'd like to have the voices sound as close as possible to the original VAs as we can get 'em!If you think there's a VA here or somewhere who might be great for any part(s) here, please PM me and I will ask if they might (pleasepleaseplease) be interested! This is in Audio because I won't be making a video to accompany the song. Tiny chance in the future, but I want to focus on putting the voices together, first.
HOWEVER, with the current auditions I'm getting I'm starting to feel like I need emotion and singing skill more than the closeness of the voice to the original VA right now. After all, singing voices may sound more different than speaking voices.

*Since 5 July 2012 is only an extended deadline, I will cast roles as we inch closer towards it. Weird, I know, but that's how I want it to go.
I really only need Asami, Mako, and Tahno auditions.
The Bolin auditions are already very good and I need more time to decide between them, but so far Bolin is also still open for as long as I haven't cast him yet. If you feel you can play him best, go ahead and audition.
*A Korra audition doesn't count as an Asami audition since Asami has a slightly higher medium voice.
Korra
-the eponymous character of Nickelodeon's new cartoon. Aang's direct reincarnation, she inherits his earnest desire to protect the world but is his complete opposite in temperament. She's headstrong, determined, and tomboyish, mastering Water, Fire and Earth at a young age. She has a difficult time learning Airbending from Aang's son Tenzin, however, and the burden of her position gets heavier when main antagonist Amon starts a movement to cleanse the world of bending.

PLEASE READ!: It's important to remember that Korra's in Shang's place here. Shang is determined to make a difference in the war by training his men, and we know this not just from the lyrics and how well Donny Osmond (Shang's singing VA) sings but also the inflection in Shang's voice. He sings but he also delivers with exactly the right emotions. Korra's determined to beat Amon and rally the benders to stop the Equalists from taking away their gifts, practically who they are (especially her, since her life has always revolved around her abilities), so Korra should be able to both hit the notes and show her resolve to, well, bend the hell out of Amon! Same thing for the others, of course.

-Asami’s speaking voice is medium--not necessarily high-pitched, but still soft/gentle. Still, I feel like her voice has the capacity to go just slightly higher if she sings.

-former pro-bender (water). Once arrogant, he loses heart when Amon takes away his bending, but depends on Korra's strength to avenge his loss. The video below shows what his voice sounds like:
Voice: Deep but raspy.

-Korra's earthbender friend and pro-bending teammate, the younger and more carefree out of the pair of siblings. Nearly gets his bending taken away by Amon. The video below shows what his voice sounds like:
Voice: medium to high, lighthearted. I think Bolin’s voice can be the most high-pitched out of the males.

I'll be looking for an "I'll Make a Man Out of You" instrumental for the background music that doesn't have the "Be a Man"/"Beat Amon" part sung towards the end. Those kinds are all I can find right now, unfortunately.
Please tell me if you've ever heard a copy or minus one that doesn't have the all-male chorus booming out that part!
Or if you know how to take out that part from the instrumental but still keep the music. (I'm still trying to learn how, myself.) If not, I have a friend who's talented enough to make a piano version for it for the bg and I'll see if he can help.
