Even if a role has been filled, you can still audition for it. Due to many reasons, such as in case the person auditing is suddenly unable to, or if your voice ended up working better in the end (Less distortion and background noise comes to mind), you may end up becoming the part instead. The deadline is still far away but there are always things that may affect the recorder that wouldn't matter how long period of time there is to deadline. While I've received only few auditions with static mixed with the lines, I am sure everyone would understand if I chose the person over the static than the one with the static because the static is very noticable in game.

In the past, at few previous of my projects when I've promised a role to someone they never ended up doing the rest of the lines which lead to my game being released without the main heroine having a voice. It was very akward and I'd rather that not happen again, so if you think you are good for the role, please by all means audition to it and I'll stay in touch with you. If nothing else, I'll keep you in mind as I'm always looking for new auditions and I'm already working on a new project... I'll tell more about it later but needless to say, all who audition for me will be kept in mind for later.

Just to show I'm not just lazing off myself, I decided that Alice's graphics did not represent the tomboyish young gal enough so, here is the new graphics that will be used for her.

Am just enquiring, have all the female roles already been cast?
If so, would you happen to be accepting demo reels for additional characters in this game, or this new project you'd said you've started working on?
    Thanks!

I am always accepting demo reels but the new game is just in the planning stages, it will take very long time untill there's the time for voice acting.

The deadline is closing in and I haven't been provided all the lines of Alice yet, so you can still go for the role. Few lines of Bella were missing and just now I found out many of the lines have static in the background. Applying for any role still is a-okay at this point.

You know MISTA BIG T, I understand that you have had bad experiences with VAs in the past and this is why you are executing the audition procedure you're currently using. However, I will say that you are very close to stepping on the line of etiquette that exists on the VAA. You set a deadline for June 1, yet you have already cast all the female roles? I know that I was about to audition on the day you cast the females, thinking that I had plenty of time before June 1, and even IcesWolf25 had sent off an audition only to find that by the time she'd refreshed the page, the role had been filled! You also have people constantly asking you "is this role filled, can I still audition?"

Furthermore, now that you have selected your cast early, you are still holding auditions for roles that have been filled? I understand that you are looking for the best voice and the best quality, but if a VA has poor quality, you shouldn't cast them only to drop them once someone better comes along. This is bad practice. I know there are other audition threads that cast-as-you-go, but once they're cast, that role has been finalized. Nobody else can take their place. Quality of the recording and acting ability are all taken into consideration in everyone's auditions.

The audition guidelines at VAA (specifically regarding deadlines in this case) promote clarity and are there to ensure that producers and VAs can be part of a smooth audition process, one without false hope, role-security anxiety and time wasted recording auditions only to find they've been cast. What you should have done is stick to the deadline of June 1 before casting any of the characters. Once you have received ALL the auditions, you select your main VA and an understudy for major roles so that you don't encounter the problem of your heroine disappearing and leaving a gaping hole in your project.

Finally, from your last post, it seems that a few of your selected cast members have already begun recording their lines, and as such, have committed their time and effort to the role. Yet, from your haphazard auditioning process, it's possible that the casted VAs could be dropped from the project even if they've recorded a substantial amount of their lines. If this were to occur, it would be an awful waste of their time and energy, not to mention abusing their (currently) free services they've offered towards your project.

In summary, once a role is cast, it stays cast. I understand nothing terribly 'wrong' has happened in this audition process so far, but there is potential for it.

Agreed and while I don't mind if you find someone better for a role, you emailed me saying I recieved the role of Fire, yet it says you casted it to Rip. I have no issues whether I got the role or not but please keep your decisions reserved until the deadline, it gives false hope when you cast one person and then recast said person without even telling them.
    Making monster voices since 1969.

No, no, you've mistaken and I think some other people have too. (Because I just finished mailing a person about this)

I'm saying you can audition your lines for the role you like, perhaps not for this particular project but for me to keep you in mind for my other projects, one which I've worked for quite few years now. I've kept all the people who've auditoned and sent me samples down in my contacts list and will keep in touch with them as soon as this game is done.

Also, like I said one part of me accepting auditions for some roles that were filled was just making sure that the role would not be not have all the lines by the time, which is what has happened to me in my previous attempt to make a game with voice acting, the voice actress having the lead role never ended up doing the rest of the lines, which was a major bummer. So I was put in a spot of either wasting all the great voice acting by everyone else and not have voice acting at all or release the game without lead voice. I released it without lead voice acting eventually.

I also made few mistakes when I updated who had what role which also caused problems. I've hopefully been able to clear things up though I am sure those caused the biggest murmur. Overall, if anything's gone wrong it's been because of errors on my part and I apologize for that.

I hope that clears everything up. For the record, I think I've got all the voices down and have been working to implement them in game. Many thanks goes to all the wonderful voice actors who've applied, I'll be in touch with you and you'll receive the download for the game when it's done. (I aim for all the polish and all done by June 10th)

This was totally my mistake. I'll sort this out and find a good medium that'll please everyone involved. I'll talk to you in private message about what happened here.

I have every confidence that casted members of VAA will give the roles their best,
and so I shall give your current game a miss when it comes to auditioning.
Please make sure to send us the link when the game is completed though, as I'd love to see the finished product!

Thank you kindly, the game is looking really good. Everything is pretty much done and the game is fully playable from the start to the finish. Just some polish and some testing and it's ready.

I had some extra time so I made something amazing.
