Hey everyone! I'm new here, so I'm not sure how this place works. I'll just stick to the template ridiculously closely.
Project information
I'm an animation student in my second year at the Utrecht School of the Arts. For this final term of the year, I'm making an animated short. About a minute and a half in duration, I'll be animating it traditionally, on paper. It's for artschool, but I will try to get it to play in as many animation and film festivals as I can. It's a no-budget production, as I'm not planning on selling this or making any money off of it.
I've spent the last three or four months developing a concept, chiseling it down to something that's realistic to produce, easily communicates, and hopefully, just looks amazing. It's about a gypsy/fortune teller, a man who wants her to tell the future. It's set the streets in Victorian London.
Here's the story in short: The gypsy is sitting in her tent, waiting for a customer to come in. A man comes in. He wants her to predict the future; not because he wants to know the future, more because he's skeptical of divination, and it's good fun. She stares at the crystal ball on the table, but there's nothing paranormal happening. She just thinks up a 'prediction', and tells the man he'll get rich. Not particularly impressed, the man pays her and leaves. Just when he's left the tent, the lights go out, the crystal ball lights up and the fortune teller collapses as she's overcome with a vision. In her vision she sees someone being run over by a stage coach. Death. She runs out of the tent to warn the man of his impending death. He's too far down the street to hear her yelling, so she runs after him. As she's running, a stage coach runs her over. The man never heard her, and he disappears into the crowd.
Audition deadline
I'd prefer to have the voices recorded before May 20th. The sooner the better. Officially the school's deadline is May 31st, so May 20th is already kind of late in the game. There's not a whole lot of dialogue to be recorded, so if you can start recording right away, please do.
Recording and Contact information
-Record in 44100hz 16-bit Mono .WAV or .AIFF. I have no particular preference, except non-MP3.
-Save the lines as "charactername_yourname_linenumber.mp3" (ex: tamtu_vaan_01.mp3)

Characters (You can divide this how ever you want. Male/Female/Additional characters is recommend. But use the following format for each character)
FEMALE
The fortune teller
Age: 20-25
Bio: She's a crystalgazer to be able to make a little bit of money, she doesn't see herself as some kind of prophet or oracle.
Voice type: This fortune teller is young, streetwise and used to getting her way. Being a gypsy in London, she speaks English with an accent. This accent should preferably be romani, slavic accents are close enough. Really anything non-english will suffice.
Line 1: What do you want to know?
Line 2 [dramatic, exaggerated]: Yes, I saw it! You will have all the riches in the world. Surely, you can share some of it with me?
Line 3: Thank you, mister. Bye.
Line 4: Wait! It's not safe for you! Mister, wait! [This takes place outside, so if you can record this outside to avoid room ambience and to many mid-frequencies, great. If you're really getting into it, move around a bit, as she's running.]
MALE
The customer
Age: 30
Bio: He's an ordinary man living an ordinary life. Not particularly rich or educated, but reasonably intelligent and skeptical. He visits the fortune teller to waste some time though, not to prove any kind of a point.
Voice type: He lives in London. I'm hearing a cockney accent in my head, but if you can't do that, any English local accent will do.
Line 1: The future. You think you can tell- [here the gypsy raises her hand and he stops talking]
Line 2: …That's it? Umm… Here you go [as he pays]. Bye.
So finish your recordings as soon as possible. May 20th is what I'm aiming for at the latest. Anything before that would be great. Anything after that, I'm not sure I'll be able to animate to it. Of course if by that time you submit an amazing recording, I don't mind pulling a few all-nighters, if that's what gets the best result.
