Critiques! Always welcome! Bump 1.
That was simply brilliant. I cracked up laughing at Shinji's scream. That was so comical! Woo! xD Everything seemed fine to me. The voices were very fitting for each character and the performances were amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kept forgetting I was watching a fan dub. ;p
Ha! I'm so glad you found my scream to be funny! Took me at least 20 takes to get it juuust right! ^^ Thanks for the critique~~the ones that say "you should improve on this and this and this" are always great to get to make the next performance as best as it can be--but it's the ones that say everything's solid that I'm really proud of. Thanks again! It means a lot to both me, and Parabolic.![]()

Actually, I tend to put more stock in critiques that actually critique the work as opposed to shell out tons of praise. Sure, praise makes you feel good about yourself, but criticism helps you improve.
One example of criticism I can place on the clip is this. I don't know if it was something that happened with my mic or recording environment (probably not because my lines don't sound like that when listening back to the naked recordings, but it's still a possibility) or if it was some kind of funky compression applied to my lines when you mixed the fandub, but they sound rather odd in the final clip. Hollow and muffled is what I would call them. As I said, it's a mystery what the cause is, but that doesn't change the fact that they don't sound as best as they can be. Taking that self-criticism, I now can try and adjust things such as mic settings and my recording environment to get a better sound. Assuming the folly is, indeed, on me.
Now see, I noticed the strange quality as well, and I tried to fix it but I really couldn't because of the way the video project was put together. It was a bit off on all the takes of one line in particular, but I figured it was such a minor I wouldn't pester for a redo (especially since the lines were a month overdo anyway) and I didn't think anyone would care--thinking back on it, that was probably a mistake on my part. But as i said, the project was made in such a way I'm prevented from going back to adjust that. Also, critiques like that are very rare for me. And as I mentioned earlier, I said critique are of course generally a good way to improve. But even so, I like a little praise when it comes my way. Anyway, yeah. There's a few more issues as well, mostly having to do with how the leveling of the clip ended up being a tad loud on the plant pulling. Also, the fact the video itself came out like this on Vimeo--which I plan to fix--is a problem. But none of the things I mentioned matter in the crux of the clip, which is our acting...which i am quite pleased with myself. Say what you will, but I thought the clip was prrrretty guud.
