Sometimes people need a wake up call, for Mesden this is a pretty clear one.

Ah, o.k. I wasn't aware this has been an issue in the past. Still Community should be aware that some people don't brush stuff off so easily.

Even in my first demo reel from 2010 I had unique dialogue (it's no longer up on YouTube, though). In fact, it was a completely unique script, despite the fact that I used already established characters from various franchises.

I don't simply see why you could not have put in some more effort into it if you are as professional as you claim you are. Even if the reel could be more than 2-3 years old, it still is not enough time to make you professional enough to tutor others for money. If you have any tips and tricks you wish to share, then great. Don't expect anyone here to pay for it, since I guarantee that there are others on the site who could have taught people the same stuff for free.

I tend to give tips and tricks that I have learned from others over the years, when I hear people are struggling with the same stuff I once did. Being a serious amateur voice actor for about 2-3 years, now, I don't feel like you have anything that you could teach me after hearing some sound clips and looked at some of the credentials, so that means I could just as well compete with you and charge nothing, which makes your idea a bit redundant.

You may mean well, but seriously, you are not that skilled yet. Especially not skilled enough to charge for lessons.

There are some repetitive things going on in this thread that has been re-proposed, please do not quote on an old Demo Reel when there is a brand-new, updated one at the top. The old one is irrelevent, and please stop quoting on the price. That has been re-proposed as well. It's irrelevent to discuss something that is no longer being offered or requested.

You're completely missing the point. It does not matter if it's not your latest demo reel. Even if it's 2-3 years old by now and you have done several of them since then, I would not trust you with any money, whatsoever, since a few years experience does not warrant enough skills so that it's worth paying, at all. Unless you managed to get some professionaly paid voice acting work that managed to establish yourself in the industry and create a name for yourself, I would at least consider it. However, by the looks of things, I am pretty much on par with you in terms of experience, despite not trying to get into professional voice over work (yet). That also means I could just as well compete with you and say "Hey, guys, I can give you some tips on how to improve your voice acting and unlike this other guy (being you), I do it for free!". See the issue here?

If you want anyone to pay money, you have to sell yourself, and I don't think you have done a very good job at that, at all.

And many people had made that point abundantly clear already, which is why I dropped the price tag at the top. Notice I said 'dropped' and not 'lowered'. There's no point in arguing about it anymore.

I'm going to ask that a Moderator close and delete this thread as I feel it's starting to get out of hand. I came in here with good intentions, I adjusted things according to comments from the Community, re-issued statements that I made when those comments started getting contested, then re-affirmed the situation numerous times. Now people are coming in here arguing, or contemplating that I'm being unreasonable by demanding money from people when I've completely eliminated the subject of any sort of cost involved.

I'm going to re-word everything and propose it in a new thread, but I'm going to take some time to think about what I want to address and I'll keep any sort of price tag out of it. For now, just close and delete this one as I feel this one is just getting out of hand.

That said, I appreciate the comments from most of you but some of you just took it a little too far, considering the circumstances of what I had done to 'bandage' the situation and assure everyone that, yes, I don't deny I may have been requesting something unreasonable, but at least I tried to amend that mistake.

Sugar coat it any way you'd like, but there's more people in here than just me who are being 'unreasonable'. It just needs to be said. Like I said, I'm going to think about what to do here if I can get a Moderator to close/delete this, then I'll re-post something down the road.

I agree ^. It's one thing to point out some things from a helpful standpoint and it's another to beat it to death.

Your intentions of being helpful are good and admirable. I think you're doing the right thing by offering it for free and allowing a reputation of yourself in the forum of a teacher and coach to be spread. There's no reason for people to point things out after the fact. And I'm glad you're going to take a different approach to this. It'll be beneficial to you in the end.

But do listen to D-Mac, it is the one thing I need to press on you. The man's extremely gifted and very helpful. He knows what he's doing and is professional. Listen to what he has to say and you're sure to improve. That being said, good luck with what you're trying to do. And I do hope people take you up on the adjusted free skype workshop.

Already knew that you have dropped the price, since I did read the entire thread. Still, I don't see many wanting to participate after all the fuzz that has been stirring up here. At least before making the thread and the involvement of money, you could have made the people responding to the issue interested in participating and if they liked it, they would have spread the word. Now you don't have that luxury.

You have not exactly been playing your cards wisely. In fact, you have been quite clumsy, and you have not managed to convince anyone why we should even bother with this. It does not matter if you have dropped the price or not, since the damage is already done, and you're not even trying to convince us to participate, at this point.

If anyone still wants to listen to you after all this, I hope they do learn something useful. I however see no reason why I should even bother. When I first saw this thread, I was in fact interested, but after reading it, along with everyone's responces and your responces, in particular, the ship has already sunk before leaving the harbor.
