Thanks for watching! Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated, y'know.
Loved it for the most part! I was a little put off by my lines' quality... Everyone else was so clear and normal, but mine were epically reverb/echoey...
Arsecakes... Need to change something about my recording... I'll re-listen to my lines and work it out for the next episode I'm in. Roger doesn't appear for a bit, nor does Halley, so I have some time to practice!
Everyone else did lovely work.
Curryknight, you're a good voice for Yuri, truly. You echoed a little like mine at the beginning section just after the train. (could this have been a mixing jip?)
Chioku, as a Brit, I love that accent. Beautifully articulate and clear.
Fox Face surprised me nicely. Well done jvonm
Overall the mixing was solid. Neither music nor VA overpowered the other, it was balanced
EDIT - I listened back to my lines, but it really doesn't sound too echoey... Makes me wonder how most of my auditions go, if they come across differently on another computer to mine! *GULP*

Thank you for the insightful feedback, Bowie.
And yes, I did use reverb on everyone's lines, only that yours have been left in semi-high wet values. (You have quite the sharp hearing, hehe!) Though I'm quite sure they're not really noticeable since there were various sfx and heavy-rock bgm going on in the opening clip I thought most of it would be drowned out ... well, that's what I figured anyway, haha. But point taken: I'll try to make it dry/drier next time! (Stephen's first lines as well, but there's a rather lame reason as to why they have been left like that, though. ie. me being lazy, tsk.)
Also, this would sound more like an excuse than a fact; but Youtube and I aren't that in good terms. So you may consider that a factor, too. (It did kind of reduce the quality of the audio ... grr.)
I'm still glad you enjoyed this in a way. More than anything, I appreciate you think so that way about the cast. Yours, exdevlin's and Chioku's accents are fascinating. <3
This has, like, one of the best stories ever. Shame, though, that this is one helluva underrated game.
And I thought this was awesome too.
Thoroughly enjoyable, nostalgic and at the same time, refreshing from start to finish. You can tell at a glance that a lot of editing work was involved on battles and such. It was impressive to take on such a task remixing the whole thing, so kudos to you, Aoba. Everything flowed seamlessly, no jumps in music whatsoever. I rewatched the original English and Japanese opening sequence, and I must say that some of the SFXs from the opening here was better than the ones in the original. I thought the honking of the train at the beginning was a nice touch, though I would love to hear it, along with the mechanical sounds of the train, taking a gradual to sharp increase in volume, conveying distance and acceleration... or whatever.
I did notice the missing SFXs you were saying, though. The most conspicuous I can tell was probably the one where Bacon's pet was kicking Yuri trying to break free from his grasp and the “cracking” sound when Yuri finally squeezes its head to death.
But well, really, the overall effort and consistency of the mixing overshadow all of those SFX flaws, and everyone's lines sound very clear and unlike in the original, this one has no loudness issues with BGM and SFX. Good job!
The cast did a good job as well, though I have a very few reservations. VERY FEW.
Major Tsuji (Jethrotex) – Don't get me wrong in this one, but I thought your first line “It's already past 23:00...” was a bit monotonous. Granted, the original English dub overacted but yours sounded a tad stiff and bored, no weariness or exasperation. I also thought Tsuji could sound a bit older, gruffish and definitely less stoic. I loved the “Die, die, die” line though and the reacts that followed when he's getting desperate. The scream, too, was very well done. Not too over-the-top nor lacking.
Subordinate(POLE7645) – You make a good tandem with Tsuji as his subordinate and this take is so much better than the original. “She looks pretty ordinary to me” line was delivered with bewilderment which I guess is totally alright if this is a wimpy character we're talking about.
Alice (Chioku) – Oh my, this one was a pleasant surprise. Definitely not the voice I was expecting, but it worked like a charm... or maybe it's the accent. I'd say this sounds closer to Alice's Japanese VA but after listening to this a few more times, your deliveries are far more original and more in character. The “Eek!” line in the opening sounded more natural and not ear-screeching, to say the least. I loved how in her times of vulnerability, she sounds convincingly unsettled and yet NOT like a generic damsel-in-distress. Totally adored her voice, too. She sounds very British! Would prefer this Alice more than Alice's original VAs anytime. Her “th” has air puffs though. But anyway, would love to hear more from this girl!
Bacon(BOWIEtheHERO) – May I just echo what the others have said already? You, sir, bring the best of shivers down my spine. But seriously, this take was far cry different AND better than the English and Japanese ones where he had a deep voice and robotic manner of speech. And God, I'm loving the accents in this dub, haha. Like Chioku's, though, your “th” has air puffs as well... but unlike her voice, this is what I'd totally imagined for Bacon, and yet I totally fell head over heels with both of your voices the instant I heard them. Um, weird? Haha. 'Tis gonna be fun with your Bacon as the series' antagonist.
Yuri(curryknight) – I really liked your voice for him, very youthful sounding and there's that “hero” thing, but not totally generic-sounding. I have a few reservations on some of your lines though...for example, most of your angry / screaming lines sounded a tad flat to me when it could've used more energy and color / variation in delivery. Um, just a tiny, TINY bit! But overall, your Yuri is one of this dub's greatest assets. I'm loving the air and attitude you give of him. I also think you have a very good chemistry with Alice. I especially love your lines in the graveyard where he's having his mini-talk to himself, hee! Your voice really shines there and it suits Yuri so damn good. Can't wait to hear more from you!
Mysterious Voice (exdevlin) – No complaints other than, um, more please!
Fox Face (jvonm) – Okay, seriously, your laughs creep the heck out of me... I guess that's a good thing? You have this mature tone that suits this image of Hyuga so well... I wish he had more speaking lines in the game!
Sword Mask (POLE7645) & Staff Mask (curryknight) – I liked the tone and voice you two used for your characters. Good job on the portrayals! There's a weird pause on Sword Mask's laugh at some point, though...
Gold Mask(Tik115) – Very fitting voice for this mask. Though at the line “...we have a proper opponent opponent for you...” your voice seemed to have “crack” or something at the end. Well, that's about it, still a job well done~
Grail Mask (Tik115) – I really loved your deliveries especially on your last line, “Tee hee hee, do you intend to keep running forever?” This mask definitely takes the cake for being the craziest out of the bunch. Doesn't help he's got such a fish face for a mask too! Ohoho.
To y'all: keep up doing a mighty fine job.
Looking forward to hearing more from everyone, seriously!
And ugh, it seems I have so much time in my hands than I seem to think to write this, dammit! My first post is very meaningful now indeed. But I love me some Shadow Hearts, eh.
Hey, thank you for the detailed feedback. Very much appreciated! I knew those missing sound effects were bound to be noticed sooner or later. Still, I'm glad you think of it that way.
The cast really did wonderfully. I believe Bowie, Tik and Chioku are British themselves so their accents are just naturally perfect. But anyway, knowing this game, there're lot more to come! So keep lovin' those accents, lol!
