First of all this is a school project, it won't be commercialized, the only form of compensation will be that in the credits, but it will be something good to show off in a portfolio.
We're a group of Swedish video game students who are looking for voice actors for our second project. In our projects we create complete video games, ideas come from designers and our 3d-artists and programmers makes the magic happen. Right now we're in week 3 of our 9 weeks, and our sound producers will come in later today.
This particular story is set in a city called Stump which lies inside a tree stump. The inhabitants of this city are anthropomorphic bugs, and the concept is to mix a noir/neo-noir feeling with a bug world. As far as architecture and general culture of the game it's inspired a lot by 1930s Chicago. I've tried to write a script that corresponds the feel of noir more than genuine 1930s american english though.
The game is a puzzle adventure, in the style of Grim Fandango, the story is what drives the game, and voice acting would be a huge addition.
The backstory is that the fly you play, Winston, has lost his cleaning job and is back two months on his rent. The landlord sends collectors to get the rent. Since he doesn't have any money, they rip his wings of and threaten him to his life, gives him 24 hours. He aimlessly goes out in the street and meets Dudley, who recruits him to the mob-like gang that Charlie is running. He gets missions from Charlie to commit different crimes, which are basically puzzles.

Name: Winston Doobles
Race: Fly
Age: 20-25
Bio: Winston is the definition of the title of the game, a real low-life. He's a lazy type who really doesn't care about a lot of things unless his life is on the line. He's not dumb, not distracted, but he's not someone you would go to to get motivated about anything. You might get the feeling that he cared when he was a kid, but has just given up by now.
Voice type: Regular quite fragile young guy voice. Not too excitable.
Audition line 1: Aren't you a mayfly man?
Audition line 2: I'm sorry to hear that, but I don't think I can help you. I have tons on my table right now and one wrong turn sends me right back to meet my makers
Audition line 3: In all due respect I'd rather just work on my own if that's fine. I'm not the one to say no to power but ehh... They say that with power comes responsibility, I don't really care for responsibility.

Name: Charlie Stung
Race: Wasp
Age: 40-45
Bio: The leader of the criminal gang Winston joins in the beginning of the game, He's a 6 feet 6 intimidating wasp, he's the angry type, but also the superstitious type, which creates fear and insecurity in the people who face him. He's always 100% sure what should be done, even if it's not the right thing.
Voice type: Charlie has a intimidating, quite angry voice, he's the one who can be smooth as silk one second and just flip the script to screaming the next, depending on what you say to him. Smokes regularly
Audition line 1: You bet. I’m not so sure though still. Why would I trust you? This is some high octane stuff. Not your average street salesman kind of position if you know what I mean.
Audition line 2: Well little fly. This is not your street corner C-class pesticide. This is pure grade A-class DDT. This business will knock your brain right on it's backside.
Audition line 3: You sure might. But I'm not a fluky man. I'm a man who stands by my word, that you should know. If you don't want to be a head of ten, you have to carry your own head of one that much higher.

Name: Pruto Rustwing
Race: Ladybug
Age: 60-65
Bio: Pruto manages the bar in the gangs HQ, he's a settled down type and mostly just gossips and sells some shady stuff behind the counter.
Voice type: Pruto is a heavy smoker and sort of a classic bartender, he's a person that will give you hints throughout the game and is a "come closer and I'll tell you"-kind of person
Audition line 1: I'm Pruto. Pruto Rustwing. I manage the bar around here and.. um... provide other special services, some under the counter dealing of sorts, nothing the authorities needs to know about.
Audition line 2: Well, seems like it's not giving him the kind of fortune he thought it would. Also he muttered about it stopping. Now the time's 8 pm all day. Hehehe! (flap wings)
Audition line 3: Business is blooming as usual. You'd be surprised how many criminals that like the strong stuff.

Name: Dudley Trent
Race: Mosquito
Age: 50-60
Bio: Dudley is a classy old man, streetsmart, and works as the recruiter for the gang. He's respected and has been in the organization for a long time. Sort of a jokester and a sympathetic criminal. He's socially aware and doesn't want to risk anything by trying to get power. He's happy where he's at, just like Pruto.
Voice type: His voice is full of energy, and he never seems to be sad or down. Likes to talk and socialize and is very capable in dealing with people.
Audition line 1: Well I’m having the best of days, so fly, I’m gonna try to make this your lucky. Can you handle a shovel?
Audition line 2: Hey, I've just been enjoying people throughout my life. And when I don't enjoy someone, a hitbug can usually take care of 'em within the next 24, so I guess that's what keep this smile on my face.
Audition line 3: The recruiting business is slow this time of year. I mean the holidays are coming up so people suddenly get all scared of dying, it all makes sense. Hehehe.

Name: Jessica Criquet
Age: 25-30
Bio: Jessica sings at the HQ and is a promiscuous woman, she knows that she looks good and works it when dealing with people. She's Charlies eye candy, and he spoils her and gives her everything she wants pretty much. However throughout the game she will have love issues and personal problems and be pretty sad and scared.
Voice type: She has a seductive quite deep voice, smooth and fine, low-key. However when she gets upset she pretty much begs for help and assistance, and the seductive strong wall is torn down.
Audition line 1: Why hello there, you don't look rough enough to be part of the gang.
Audition line 2: Oh god Winston, you can't tell Charlie. He would rip this guy to pieces without asking. My conscience can't bear that sort of weight.
Audition line 3: I know I shouldn't complain. I feel embarresed now, talking about my petty love troubles while you have to live every day like it's your last.
Additionaly there are some smaller characters in the game that will be distributed among the voice actors that get chosen. These are very small characters that will only appear in a few minutes or even seconds in the game.
