Project
Tentatively titled "Hit or Stand". A series of four 3 minute animated shorts done in an anime style. The story centers John Brawley, a street fighter who transferred to a new school hoping to put his past behind him. Instead he finds himself in the middle of a turf war between Crown Academy's strongest fighters "The 4 Aces". Largely inspired by manga/anime like Rokudenashi Blues, Tenjou Tenge, and Project A-ko it will borrow various elements from action manga. There will be adult themes, but no explicit language, or nudity.
Characters
John Brawley/Blackjack Brawley
Sex - Male. Age - 16. Class - Sophomore.
The protagonist. John Brawley was a model student who earned the nick name "Blackjack Brawley" by taking down 21 opponents all by himself. The result his feat was being challenged by even more people. Tired of constantly fighting John wanted a way out. When his grades earned him a scholarship to the prep school Crown Academy, he jumped at the chance. Unfortunately his reputation traveled with him, and the school's top fighter, XL wants to put him to the test. John attended the same middle school as Charlie.
Personality - Vigilant and calm, John isn't afraid of anyone.
1st Line - "Just call me John. Blackjack Brawley is only a name my enemies call me."
2nd Line - "I don't try to solve all of my problems with my fists. Fighting has a way of starting more problems than actually stops."
3rd Line - "I'm pretty clueless when it comes to girls. But I think a rose should have thorns."
XL
Sex - Male. Age - 18. Class - Senior.
The primary antagonist. Ace of Clubs. Xavier Lawrence is Captain of the football team, and well known as the schools strongest fighter, XL is the big man on campus. XL is regularly visited by college scouts, and his star status as a football player puts him above the rules. XL becomes interested in beating John once he learns of the infamous Blackjack Brawley. XL is more calculated than he lets on.
Personality - Confident and haughty, XL has a domineering personality.
1st Line - "You look confused. When I say come to an understanding, I mean you're gonna be under, and I'm gonna be standing."
2nd Line - "I feel like a kid at Christmas. So many enemies I don't know who to fight next."
3rd Line - "So what if people admire me? Admiration isn't the same as acceptance. You should know that better than anyone."
Stacy
Sex - Female. Age - 17. Class - Senior.
Ace of Spades. Stacy Thorpe is the class valedictorian, president of the schools judicial council, and president of the honors society. She's well-liked among both students and faculty, and has a reputation for being fair. Considered the best female fighter on campus, Stacy avoids fighting if she can help it.
Personality - Strong and compassionate, Stacy is a natural leader.
1st Line - (tone - remorseful) "Fighting is strange. The better I get at it, the less I want to do it."
2nd Line - (tone - empathic/caring) "Virtue is a beautiful thing, but beauty by itself isn't virtuous."
3rd Line - (tone - calm and authoritative) "You can't lay down as a woman and then stand up as girl. The world won't let you have it both ways."
Trent
Sex - Male. Age - 17. Class - Junior.
Ace of Diamonds. Trent Stanford is the son of one of the school's biggest benefactors. He flagrantly breaks school rules knowing there won't be any repercussions. An utter Narcissist, Trent thinks of himself as better than everyone else. Trent is prone to randomly checking his reflection in a hand mirror. No matter how badly beaten Trent gets, he mysterious seems fine the next day. He dislikes Charlie more than anyone else.
Personality - Egotistical and condescending, Trent has a dry sense of humor.
1st Line - "Why would I waste my time humoring a piece of trash like you? We're not on the same level."
2nd Line - "I guess you're not afraid to die. That's good. I'm not afraid to kill you."
3rd Line - "Some of the most beautiful things in this world are poisonous. Like me."
Charlie
Sex - Male. Age - 16. Class - Sophomore.
Ace of Hearts. Known for throwing the best parties, Charlie C. Uston is the most popular sophomore in school. His normally light-hearted attitude, makes him easy to get along with. He often claims to be religious , but knowingly contradicts himself. Since his family has been attending Crown Academy for 4 generations, he has a few special privileges of his own.
Personality - Confident and charming, Charlie is a smooth talker.
1st Line - "It could be a coincidence that everyone who thinks they can beat me is wrong. Or maybe I'm just that good."
2nd Line - "I like to keep it real Christian. Have sex with a Christian girl, then talk with her about religion."
3rd Line - "Winning a girl's heart and winning a fight are both about the element of surprise. You pleasantly surprise the girl, and unpleasantly surprise your opponent."
Pat
Sex - Female. Age - 17. Class - Junior.
Captain of the Rugby team, and MVP of the previous year, Patricia Francesco has an no-holds bar attitude when it comes to fighting. She's Trent's primary enforcer. Though not one of the four Aces, she the next highest in the school's pecking order. She considers Stacy her rival, and tries to compete with her in everything. Pat whether being the first person to class...or to get to the top of the stairs, Pat will often compete in situations where competition isn't necessary.
Personality - Blunt and aggressive, Pat is a tomboy.
1st Line - (tone - amused) "When you say you want me to 'talk' to him...You mean break his jaw, right?"
2nd Line - (tone - irritated) "Keeping talkin like that, and you're gonna be spittin out teeth."
3rd Line - (tone - somber) "Sex for money is prostitution. But...I think sex without love is prostitution too."
Julia
Sex - Female. Age - 16. Class - Sophomore.
Julia Shoe is the eyes and ears of the academy. Little goes on that she doesn't know about. Anything she doesn't know by word of mouth she divines through her tarot cards. Her readings are mysteriously accurate. Julia is Stacy's best friend.
Personality - Soft spoken, and mysterious, Julia is a bit eccentric.
1st Line - (tone - pleasant) "Everyone's got a story. The more you keep to yourself the more curious people get."
2nd Line - (tone - mystical) "The four of swords, inverted. Ahead of you lies and difficult and confusing path. While on this path there is neither rest, nor any hope of escape."
3rd Line - (tone - 1st sentence playful, 2nd sentence sad) "This school is nice if you understand how the system works. If you don't play by the rules it's a nightmare that never ends.""
Ethan
Sex - Male. Age - 16. Class - Sophomore
A gifted athlete, Ethan Snyder made MVP on the Lacrosse team his freshman year. Ethan doesn't side with any of the four Aces. Instead he wants the position of Ace for himself. Despite a losing streak against the Four Aces and Pat, Ethan has a lofty ego; he's still far stronger than the average student. It's a well known fact that he has a one sided crush on Julia.
Personality - Overconfident and compulsive

I will assume that anyone who does not respond to the e-mail notifications I've sent out within the next 9 days has lost interest, and the position will be recast.
The casting will not be definitive until I receive a confirmation e-mail.
