I'm not sure if this is a common issue, I'm sure I'm not the only one out there finding this, but does anyone else find their yells don't sound like the effort is in the yell, I feel as though I'm just being louder, but if I'm trying to yell like angrily, or sad, or any emotion to it; it still just sounds like a loud version of it; you know how a lot of the professionals they yell and they get that slight rasp to their voice showing their yelling, even heard young kids yell and sound like their yelling.

My voice is a deep male voice, but I've heard similar voice types to mine yell and sound like they're yelling not merely a shift in volume.

Hope someone out there gets what I'm saying, ahaha; and if anyone found they had this problem and overcame it. Maybe it's an acting barrier when I'm yelling I find it hard to maintain emotion in my voice and yell; so I come across monotone just louder, and since I primarily work with commercial scripts and not too much acting lately I find it harder and it's a lack of practice.

Either way, hoping someone else has encountered it and overcame, or any suggestions, hopefully I was clear enough

First of all, you have to yell from your diaphragm, think of it as a flexible plastic board beneath your lungs. You have to stand straight up and down and breath, filling up the bottom of your lungs first. Then once you're completely full, completely open your airways and force your diaphragm up gently to let the air out. But use only your diaphragm and don't force it out in any way. You'll force your vocal chords to slam together as they vibrate, and that is disastrous to your voice.

    Hope this helps =/

I think your gut feeling is pretty dead on. Take some acting workshops - go play on roller coasters! Community colleges have great beginner acting classes for cheep! Plus, if you are in the USA and over 25, the government gives educational grants and scholarships for returning adults to educate themselves. Usually, your tuition then turns out to be very low cost or free!!!

    Have fun exploring!
