Hello, this is a radioplay for the manga of Yugioh.
Most people know that Yugioh is an anime done by 4kids about a card game. This isn't that Yugioh. This is based entirely off the manga, the first 53 chapters about the shadow games.
A word for people who want to audition, I'm trying to keep away from the 4kids dub so no copies of character voices from that, not to say they will be tossed away I'd just like to keep this as far from that as possible.
The story of Yugioh in the manga follows young Yugi Mutou a high school student who loves puzzles and games. One day his grandfather gives him a puzzle known as the Millennium Puzzle and when he puts it together a powerful spirit takes over his body in order to deliver justice to those who do wrong.
For the auditions i'd like them to be in mp3 format and have them sent to WolfNinjaOfTheNorth@yahoo.com. All lines should be in one file for each character and should be labeled yourname_charactername.mp3 (ex. WolfNinjaKraig_Yugi.mp3)
Male Roles
Yugi
Bio: Yugi is a small boy in high school who is looked at as a weakling. He starts off with one real friend and gets picked on by a lot of his classmates. He enjoys puzzles and games as well as the history behind them. He hates violence and tries to avoid fighting if possible. He cares deeply for his friends and really only wants true friends who rely on him and he can rely on. He is also fairly naive when it comes to people.
Voice Type: Medium-High, highschool student, kind of nerdy, kind
Line1:Inside this box is my greatest and most secret treasure, and the riddle with it “this treasure can be seen but you haven’t seen it” I wonder what it could mean.
Line2:Thanks Anzu. That was really great what you did! Just one word from you and they ran
Line3:This puzzle’s pretty difficult though. I’ve been working on it for nearly eight years and haven’t completed it, it gets me pretty down sometimes.
Yami
Bio: This is the spirit inside the Millennium Puzzle. He is a powerful Egyptian spirit who delivers justice through Shadow Games. He uses Yugi's body as a vessel whenever Yugi is wearing the puzzle. He is essentially a darker form of Yugi, even possessing Yugi's personality and memories.
Voice Type:Medium-Low, mysterious, powerful
Line1:But there’s a catch, since just paying you would be boring, so…we’re going to play a game!
Line2:Oh and one more thing, if you break a rule you will be cursed with a “Penalty Game”
Line3:Shadow Game reveals a person’s true character and thus determines their fate!
Junouichi
Bio: He's a classmate of Yugi's who frequently picks on him. He's street tough and tries to keep that up at all times though he sometimes lets that down to reveal a more emotional side. He doesn't really care for most things, except his friends.
Voice Type:Medium, tough, sarcastic, cool
Line1:Let me teach you how to act like a man! Here, I’ll let you have your box back, if you try and get it with all your might!
Line2:W-what…what the…he was always so quiet, never resisting, even when we teamed up to hurt him…Yugi…are…you protecting us?
Line3:While I was looking at that box I took this. He didn’t notice it was gone but without this that puzzle is useless!
Honda
Bio: He's Junouichi's best friend and accomplice. He's the thinker of the two, the more cautious. He's the voice of reason to Junouichi's brash attitude. He's still like Junouichi though in the way that both like being the troublemakers. He also serves as comedic relief at times.
Voice Type: Medium, funny, cool, mischievous
Line1:Junouichi, pick your fights better you idiot! That’s the demon of morals, Ushio!
Line2:Yugi, what’re you doin’ in here all alone? It’s way to dark and gloomy and hey, this must be your treasure. “It can be seen but you haven’t seen it”?
Line3:Uh, that would be us Junouichi
Sugoroku
Bio: He is Yugi's grandfather and guardian. He's watched Yugi for a long time now and sees him as a son. He owns the game shop where he and Yugi live. He has a knowledge of the history of most games and the history of the Millennium Puzzle. He is both wise and the comedic relief.
Voice Type: Medium-Low, aged, wise, funny
Line1:It takes a very intellectual person to solve the “Millennium Puzzle”. That thing has a varied history…
Line2:Now give it back, I’ll sell that thing for a fortune!
Line3:Anzu, it’s been a while since I saw you here, you’ve really grown, especially your chest. You just keep getting bigger.
Ushio
Bio: Ushio is the Demon of Morals, a member of the Disciplinary Committee at the school where Yugi attends. He uses his power and strength to bully the weaker kids into paying him for protection. He enforces the rules but believes what he's doing is not breaking the rules or bullying. He is very greedy and will do almost anything for money.
Voice Type:Medium-Low, strong, evil, cool
Line1:You just relax Yugi-kun. From now on you can consider me your paid bodyguard
Line2:Most people hate the people who bully them, but you’re calling these guys your friends? You must be a masochist.
Line3:It’s in my nature to hate bullying, but what I’m about to do to you isn’t “bullying”… it’s a “warning”!
Female Roles
Anzu
Bio: She is a long time friend of Yugi and cares deeply for him. She is a strong woman and can't stand to see Yugi get picked on. She does her best to defend Yugi from getting bullied. She has feelings for Yugi and can't stand to see him hurt.
Voice Type: Medium, kind, strong, sweet
Line1on’t flatter me, Yugi, I just saw a nice guy being taken advantage of, I didn’t want them tossing you or your treasure around.
Line2:Um, Yugi, that puzzle sounds kinda dangerous.
Line3icking on people weaker than you! You guys are the dumb ones! Now beat it!!
Male/Female Roles
Narrator
Bio: The narrator for the show, they'll announce the episode and the Shadow Games. This character can be male or female.
Voice Type:Medium, narrator
Line1:This historic game…it can be traced back as far as ancient Egypt. In those times the game was used to predict the futures of men and kings. But the magic ceremonies where destinies were actually decided are known as Shadow Games.
Line2:Game over!
