Peach Girl: Sae's Story (Audio Drama)

Hello there! After some debating, I've decided to try doing an audio drama. The story I chose is Peach Girl: Sae's Story, a 3 volume manga sequel to Peach Girl by Miwa Ueda.

Plot: After her misfortune with Ryo, Sae Kashiwagi is ready to be a college girl and start over, but when she gets held back a year in high school, things don't go the way she planned. Follow Sae and meet a bunch of friends, new and old as she tries to find her "precious gem," the true love she always wanted, and learns the value of true friendship, through Momo, Kairi, and her childhood friend, Kanji.

Notes: Voice samples are provided for those who have not seen or read Peach Girl. It is NOT a requirement for you to sound like the original Japanese or English voice actor/actress.

Deadline: Extended to March 22nd

Requirements: - Must record in MP3 or WAV format.
-Must be a clean recording (no puffs, clicks, etc.)
-No knowledge of Peach Girl required! I have provided voice clips for you and will provide scripts, along with links to the manga as well as character profiles.
-record all auditions in this format: "VAA Username_Character Name_Audition_Line Number"

Also, I am in DIRE need of auditions for Sae, Kairi, and Kanji. Without these three characters, I cannot produce the radioplay at all.

Sae Kashiwagi: Pronounced Sah-eye (like Sai from Naruto, just spelled differently) Kah-shee-wah-gee.

The protagonist of this story, and the anti-hero of the previous Peach Girl series. Sae was Momo's rival, up until she got a taste of her own medicine from Ryo and tried to make amends for her nastiness towards her, eventually getting Momo and Kairi together. In the story, we learn that Sae has an inferiority complex and that she often treats others badly because of it. Despite this, Sae still retains a lot of her selfish mannerisms, often acting vain, skipping school, and doing whatever it takes to get the guy she likes. Eventually Sae learns that actions speak louder than words, the value of true friendship, and that there is more to a good man than a handsome face...the hard way.

Line 1: (cutely) Whaaaaaaat? What should I do? Tee hee! *dialogue* Yeah, I'll be there! *dialogue* My friend's calling me. I gotta go!

Line 2: (excited) Yay! Every day's a party with clubs to visit. College is so much fun! Toji should have come here too, but he had to go off to college all by himself. *dialogue...gets upset* Wh...what do you mean? *more dialogue and then remembers she isn't a college student...more dialogue and Sae gets angry* Excuse you! Don't act conceited just because you graduated! *dialogue, making Sae angrier* Then you should have told me before obviously!

Line 3: (frustrated) I feel like I'm cursed. It doesn't make sense. My life wasn't supposed to turn out this way. Why do I have to wear this uniform again? Right now that stupid Kairi and dumb Momo are having fun driving together in college, without a care in the world. Why? Why Me?




Momo Adachi: Pronounced Moh-Moh (like the bat monkey from Avatar The Last Airbender) Ah-Dah-Chee.

Momo, the protagonist of Peach Girl returns, but this time as the secondary character. Momo isn't particularly fond of Sae's antics (or the fact that her skipping school caused her to get held back a year,) but she still tries to be a good friend and try to guide her in the right direction, since she's pretty much the only friend Sae has. She still retains her fiery personality from the first series, either getting onto Kairi for his pervertedness, or Sae for attempting to skip class.

Line 1: (irritated) That idiot. Sae! *dialogue...gets serious* You're not a student here. *dialogue* I know you don't want to admit the truth. Coming here is running from reality. You were held back a year, remember?

Line 2: (concerned) If you keep skipping classes, you're going to get held back. You can still make it to school today. *dialogue...gets angry* I'm saying this because I'm worried about you! *more dialogue...gets angrier* I did tell you but you didn't listen and screwed around instead! *calms down feels sorry for Sae* I'm sure this is a shock for you, but don't go blaming us. You should use this year to take a good look at yourself.

Line 3: (excited) Hot! Let's go! *dialogue* We have a new students party thing. *more dialogue...gets worried* You have your own school to go to, Sae.

Mrs. Kashiwagi: Pronounced the same as Sae's last name.

Sae's mother who made a brief appearance in the manga, but did not appear in the anime. She shares several of Sae's personality traits, and often harps at Sae about how her older siblings weren't troublemakers and turned out better (maybe that's part of Sae's reasons for acting the way she does?) She also teases Sae about marrying her childhood friend, Kanji and sweet-talks her husband to get what she wants.

Voice Type: Medium-Low, manipulative

Line 1: (angrily) Sae! What's with that outfit? What about school!? Were you planning to skip school and go out again? (frustrated) Give me a break, Sae. I don't want another call from school! Masaki and Moe were both good kids who didn't cause any trouble. Why are you like this? *gets angry* Hurry up and change and get to school!

Line 2: (annoyed) Oh, stop it. Why don't you marry him? *teasing* You should be thankful that someone would want a spoiled brat like you. And we've known Kanji since he was little. *dialogue...gets serious* If you want to meet a good man, then you have to become a good woman first. You understand that, right? *dialogue...gets annoyed* You think? And after everything that's happened, you still haven't been going to school, have you? But you do leave the house in your school uniform...I have no idea where you've been going, but there's no way you'll find a good man, leading such a loose lifestyle.

Line 3: (excited) Honey! *pretends to be upset* Sae is always talking back. She's got zero respect for her parents. *dialogue...starts to act cute* Oh, honey. I have a favor to ask of you. I want to join that new gym. I think I've gained some weight lately. It's not a lot, but I have. I don't think it's very healthy. And besides...I want to keep my figure so that I can always be your pretty wife! *dialogue* Thank you, dear!






Ai: Pronounced the way you would say "eye."

Ai is Sae's "rival" for Takuma's affections, and a fellow model. When Sae first starts dating Takuma, her first love interest (after the Ryo incident in the original Peach Girl manga,) Ai claims to be hurt by Takuma's sudden interest in Sae because she had wanted to date him all along. She, like Sae is manipulative and winds up fighting a mini-war over Takuma with Sae, but in the end Sae breaks up with him because he is too indecisive, leaving Ai to have him all to herself.

Voice Type: medium-high, manipulative

Line 1: (angrily) Takuma! I looked everywhere for you! You promised to go shopping with me, remember? *dialogue...commanding* Let's go. *more dialogue...gets irritated* Come on!

Line 2: (Upset) WHAT is this? What's up? Don't tell me you're dating this girl! You just FORGOT to tell me? How can you be so mean? *dialogue...gets angry* What are you talking about? I told you so many times that I liked you! *more dialogue...gets even more upset* I can't stand this! What about my feelings?

Line 3: (fake cute) Takuma...I've liked you for a long time, Takuma, you know that? We went on a lot of dates...and we had so much fun. Was I the only one who thought things were going well? (pretending to be sad) I was waiting for you to say we were a couple. I've been waiting for you to sav those words to me. Takuma...please. Break up with her.


I will only hold auditions for minor roles if there are more than 5 females seeking leads and I've filled all the leads. The minor female roles aren't that big, so I was planning on splitting them up between the main cast if I didn't get enough auditions, but if I DO get lots of auditions, I will cast them.

As for the male leads, I will post them in the next thread after I get some rest. I'm very tired. ^^;

Kanji Sawatari: Pronounced Kahn-gee Sah-wah-Tah-ree.

Sae's childhood friend, kiddie sweetheart, and first kiss, lovingly called "Monkey Boy." He and Sae were friends when she was little, but he promised to return when they were older and marry Sae. He wants to fulfill his promise to Sae and loves Sae as she is, no matter what, but Sae is intent on getting rid of him, because she wants to erase her past, because of the painful memories. Despite this, Kanji remains persistent and tries to help Sae, often getting her out of sticky situations. Eventually Sae realizes that other than Momo and Kairi, Kanji is the only friend she really has, but they don't end up in a relationship just yet.

Voice Type: Medium-High, ranges from concerned to silly (he's Sae's answer to Kairi)

Line 1: (exhausted) You're really fast on your feet. You really surprised me. I couldn't catch up with you, even on my bike. *dialogue...surprised* You don't remember me? Kanji Sawatari?

Line 2: (surprised) What a surprise! That means you were in the same class as Sae! *dialogue...happy* I live in the same apartment building as Sae. I just moved back into the same home I used to live in. That's all. Some guy was subletting. I used to go over to Sae's and play by climbing over the balcony. *dialogue...starts to look silly* Well...*more dialogue...starts to act goofy* Sae, you sure turned out pretty.

Line 3: (concerned) What happened to Sae? She was never the type of girl who would hit a dog. This was originally Sae's puppy. She couldn't take care of her anymore, so I offered to take her. I thought she would be happy to see her after such a long time...*dialogue* Momo, do you know how she turned out this way? *dialogue* I see...






Kairi Okayasu: Pronounced Kye-ree (like Kairi from Kingdom Hearts, just a guy,) Oh-Kye-yah-soo.

A supporting character, returning from the original Peach Girl manga and Momo's boyfriend. Even as a college student, he still retains his goofy, perverted antics, but is concerned about Sae and tries to warn her not to skip class (just not as nicely as Momo.) He now has a car and a driver's license, and apparently a persistent, manipulative ex-girlfriend named Ami, as mentioned in a special Momo/Kairi chapter.

Line 1: (annoyed) She's here again. *dialogue...laid back* Sae, totally. The second time's not a charm. *dialogue...gets excited* Momo! *more dialogue* Sweet, right? I got a loan and bought it! *dialogue...irritated* You can't. You're not a classmate, Sae!

Line 2: (surprised) Kiddie sweetheart? Wow...so you're a year younger than us. *dialogue* Where are you living now? Oh! So that's why she thought you were peeping on her! *more dialogue...gets perverted* So what color was her underwear? What size was her bra?

Line 3: (flashback, where Kairi is concerned about Momo because Sae is bullying her) I see. So Sae's got the entire class on her side...It's totally Sae's world now. I don't get it. Why does she have it in for you? *dialogue* I think somewhere inside she admires you, Momo. By getting her hands on things you value, she makes up for her own issues. *dialogue* No, I don't think that's it at all. You don't have to do anything special. You can be yourself and people like you, Momo. But sae has to try hard to make herself look good to others. Like acting cute, then knockking others down to make herself look better? Looks like. But there's none of that in you, Momo. I think she's jealous of that. I think the truth is that she's a giant ball of insecurities.

Kazuya "Toji" Toujikamori: Pronounced Kah-zoo-yah "Toh-gee" Toh-gee-kah-moh-ree.

Toji was a main character in the first Peach Girl series who dated Momo before she chose Kairi. He returns in the sequel, first during Sae's flashback, and then during the Momo/Kairi chapter when Momo and Sae go to him to ask for advice when Kairi is avoiding Momo. He and Momo seem to be on good terms, even though she chose Kairi over him.

Line 1: (in Sae's flashback, nicely) She's a good person. She's really straightforward and sweet. I don't think there's anyone who would talk badly about her. *dialogue* Yeah. We went to the same junior high. *dialogue* Adachi? She's a sweet girl. You can trust her. She's one of those goody-goody girls. She's not two-faced. *dialogue* Whoever you ask, Miss Momo has a good rep. She's nice to everyone.

Line 2: (in the Momo/Kairi chapter, in a serious tone) Well, a guy would need to work up the courage to ask first, so...I think it would hurt to be rejected. *dialogue* But if I got rejected, it would be humiliating and depressing. If I thought that I might get turned down the next time, I'd be too weirded out to ask again. *dialogue* You might think that a guy doesn't think much about asking, but it takes more courage than you think. *dialogue* Yeah, when you think about it, you gotta be confident.





Takuma Motomura: Pronounced Tah-Koo-Mah Moh-toh-moo-rah.

A fellow model for Can Cura Magazine and Sae's first love interest, whom she refers to as "the rare gem," upon first meeting him. He was an avid reader of Men's Monthly and a fan of Sae's before he first met her and they started dating, and is a sweet guy who wants nothing more than for "his girl" to be happy. However, he is indecisive and can't decide between Sae and Ai, Sae's rival and another model. It is this (and the fact that he's more concerned about the fact that Sae's underage than that Ai, Sae's rival is blackmailing her,) that leads to Sae deciding that she doesn't want him as a boyfriend.

Voice Type: Medium Low, sweet but gullible

Line 1: (politely) I saw you back there. I'm Takuma Motomura. *dialogue...happy* Nice to meet you. Actually, I've known about you from before, Sae. I'm an avid reader of Men's Monthly. I was a fan during high school. I'm sure if I looked around I could find clippings from those days. *dialogue...gets excited* I'm serious. You really surprised me back there. I was like, "It's her, in person? No way!" I'm stoked! It's so great to be able to meet you like this.

Line 2: (indecisive) Hmm...blend coffee. No, an espresso. Oh, wait a minute. What should I get? I can't decide... *dialogue* Hmm... *dialogue* Oh. Cool. I'll have that. *dialogue* Yeah, I just can't seem to make up my mind. *dialogue...happily* I have a hard time turning down recommendations. *dialogue* I'm just kidding. You're cute, Sae, and I thought you were cool. *dialogue...passionately* Really.





Shinji Kato: Pronounced Shin-jee (Like Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion) Kah-Toh.

Sae's second love interest, after she breaks up with Takuma. Sae meets Shinji when Kanji's bike slightly scratches his car (which Sae was partly responsible for because she pushed him.) Sae is automatically attracted to Shinji and volunteers to pay it off, but he is actually taking advantage of her and using her money to buy a new car, thinking that because she is a model, she is rich (Kanji tried to warn Sae of this earlier, but Sae is too blinded by her love for Shinji to see it.) Eventually, Sae finds out the hard way when he breaks up with her on her birthday via text message and then when Sae goes to find him, a bunch of wood falls on top of the car and Sae, Shinji protects the car instead of Sae (Kanji protects Sae.)

Voice Type: Medium-Low, sweet (but in a manipulative way)

Line 1: (excited) Cool! I always wanted to come to this ramen joint! Let's eat here! *dialogue* No, this is definitely the place! Rockin'! Let's go in. *dialogue* I'll have miso soup with pork. *dialogue* Aaaaah. It looks so good! Let's eat! *sluuuurp* It's great! *eating sounds* This is so good. The noodles and soup are the best!

Line 2: (surprised) I thought you were cute. You had this aura, something different than other girls. (sweetly) But...I like the fact that it's not just your looks. You're cute on the inside too. *dialogue...concerned* Are you cold? *dialogue...sweetly* Here. I have a long-sleeved shirt underneath. Oh, the stars...you can see them so clearly tonight. *dialogue...concerned* Someone you know? *dialogue...sweetly* Thank you for today.
