  1. #1 Pgsm Idol - COMPLETED - WE HAVE A WINNER! :)
Unfortunately only one of the two finalists submitted their entry and since it's been like 6 months or so... the winner is:

    IRULANNE!!!!!!!!!!!

Please listen to her 2 lovely songs she sang for the Final ROUND. Great job!

    Irulanne - The Winner

Now Irulanne has won free webhosting (although i don't think she needs it! hehe), so if you'd like the space Irulanne, just let me know. You also receive a surprise prize that you'll need to PM your address for, and your song will be listed on dewdrop-garden.com/contests.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, the judging is now completed and the verdict is in! First of all, congrats to everyone for makingit this far. This has been the closest round so far and I'm proud of you all! I hope you have been enjoying yourselves. I'm only sorry that only two of you can go on to the next round. Here it is folks!

    ROUND 4 FINALISTS

    Irulanne – 8, 9.5, 8.5, 9.5, 8.5 = 8.8
    Hitomi – 9, 9, 9, 8.5, 8 = 8.7

Look at how close it was between these two! Amazing!

And for the other 3, thank you SO much for participating. You can see by the scores that it was extremely close.

    Usako Minako – 8.7, 9. 6.5, 8.5, 9.8 = 8.5
    Lord of the Fruitflies – 8.4, 8.5, 7, 9, 8.5 = 8.28
    Song of Amazon – 8.8, 8, 7.5, 7.5, 8 = 7.96

Now for Round 4, I'm going to change it a bit. For this round, I'd like you to sing two songs. The first song is a song of your choice. One you have NOT sang yet. The second song is a song of my choice, and you will both sing the SAME song. Before I decide on the song, I'd like you to pick your songs. You can PM me the title of the song, so that it is not public knowledge and the other contestant is not aware of the song you are singing. And after I know the songs you will be singing, I will choose a song for you both to sing. It may be a song you have already sang or it may not. We shall see!

Please sing both songs a minimum of 2 minutes but no longer than 2 1/2. I will be happy to edit the song for you if you do not have access to do so, so do not worry about that. Do NOT add any special effects to your songs to be fair.

The deadline for the two songs will be Saturday, November 20. I hope 3 weeks is enough time, if not, you can just ask for an extension. Feel free to submit your songs separately if you wish. I don't mind either way Please send to: contests@dewdrop-garden.com

    JUDGES

    1. Sakurastar [COMPLETED]
    2. Wilson [COMPLETED]
    3. Charil [COMPLETED]
    4. Mink [COMPLETED]
    5. S0M30N3 [COMPLETED]

Judges, please use the following format for judging:

    1) Please score out of 10 (ex: 5/10)

    2) Please judge on the singing voice, pronunciation, sound, etc.

    3) Contestants do NOT need to sound like the original singer

    4) Please do not judge based on if they have background music or not.

    5) Please be thorough and descriptive in your judging. Don't just say "I find nothing wrong - 10/10". Give them reasons why they sounded GOOD. Or don't just say "You need to work on your pitch, but otherwise, great job" - Again, be descriptive. I expect at least 1 full paragraph. I know I like to hear descriptive critiques and I'm sure everyone else would too, so they know what to improve on for next time.

We like to hear critiques, but we like to hear positive things as well. This is all in fun, so keep that in mind as well.

With all that said, have fun and enjoy!

Judging for Round 4 is due [coming soon]. If you need an extension, let me know ASAP. And post your judging on the boards, no need to PM or email it to me. The sooner the better though

PS. If any of you judges drop out of this round, I'll be VERY unhappy!

    ROUNDS

These are approximate depending on if everyone sticks around or not! I hope it's not too many. It's basically 4 rounds with the winner singing a full length song.

    Round 3 - 5 contestants [COMPLETED]

    Asahikaru - Sakura Fubuki
    8/10

You sounded like you were trying to sound different than you really do. Now I don't know if that's true or not, but it's just how it sounded to me. Your singing was also very nasally. I understand that the language usually tends to make Japanese songs sound a little nasally, but you were just a little bit too much at times. Also, your voice sounded kind of.. how should I say it.. restrained? You need to open your throat more when you sing. I'm not sure if 'opening your throat' makes any sense, but if you don't get it, just PM me about it. Oh and this wasn't too much of a problem, but you got off tune at times. Just be careful for that. One last little complaint. ( Hehe sorry ^^; ) Your pronounciation of the words oftem seemed.. odd. I know I'm picky, but, it just bothers me when people sing Japanese songs with an English accent. Overall, this clip was enjoyable. Could've done better, but enjoyable.

    Cassandra - Sakura Fubuki
    6.5/10

No offense intended or anything, but in the clip your voice sounded a bit whiny. You were also often out of tune, and you sounded like you were singing with a stuffed nose. About the tune thing. It wasn't that you were completely out of tune, I mean, you stayed in the right pitch, but you seemed like you couldn't hit the notes. But basically you seemed unsure about some of the notes, and you seemed unsure about your voice. You need more control. Make sure you hit each note solid and strong. Just keep practicing.

    Cassie - Sakura Fubuki
    6/10

Although it wasn't the best clip, I have to give you props for being the only one to sing this song acapella. There was something strange about your voice.. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but you sounded like you were bloated or something. You were singing too much from your throat. It also seemed like you changed pitches sometimes, but I guess that's understandable, since it's often hard to keep your pitch while singing acapella. But you were out of tune here and there, so you should work on that. Also, your pronouniciation of Japanese was a bit odd too. It was risky to try to sing a song like this acapella, and I am sorry to say that I was a bit disappointed.

Hitomi Blue - C'est La Vie
    8.5/10

In the very beginning, it sounds like you were a little off tune. And there were several other places throughout the song where you went out of tune as well. And you sounded like you were holding back. Although I can hear the emotion you attempted to put in the song, it still sounded a little bit dull. Especially at the very end of the chorus (like the last 5 syllables). You sounded like you were just saying out the words. But overall you did a pretty good job. Just work on staying in tune.

    Irulanne - Sakura Fubuki
    9/10

Wow, I think this is by far the best version of Sakura Fubuki entry that I've heard. Maybe even the best entry this round. Good control, good vibratto, good emotion. I really like your soft, pretty voice. But in my opinion, the instrumental was just a tiny tiny bit overpowering your voice. Although you weren't completely out of tune, you went just a tad bit flat on some of the notes. Also, your voice got a bit airy at some parts. But besides all that, I thought this clip was very good.

    Jenny - Hoshi Furu Yoake
    7.5/10

I don't know what the beginning tune was supposed to be, but it sounded really off pitch to me. Sorry if I'm wrong. But after that, you got back on tune. Only sometimes would you get out of tune, but besides that it's fine. I like your voice, but you sounded like you were really straining at some of the parts. You have a quite pretty voice, and I thought this clip was quite nice. The ending was cute.

    Lordofthefruitflies - Lovely Yell
    7.5/10

The first word sounded out of tune, but after that, everything else seemed fine. Your throat seems dry, and you sound like you're yelling out the notes. I would suggest drinking warm water before you sing, to relax your throat. At some parts, I can hear your voice starting to crack up as well. I don't really have much to complain about this clip, since it was quite nice. Just try to sing it more, not yell it.

    Nekochan - Here We Go!
    6.5/10

Your voice is so cute! <3 But you get off tune a lot. And you seem to lack control. Work on singing the right notes out nice and solid. Also you seem to be having some trouble singing some of the words on the right beat. And you sound kind of airy as well. Are you singing from your stomach? Well, all I can say is, practice, practice, practice. This was indeed a cute clip, but it wasn't the best.

    Princesssailormoon - C'est La Vie
    5/10

I'm sorry, but I didn't understand a word you were singing. You were slurring a lot of the words, and towards the end, it didn't even sound like you were singing actual words. Enounciate, dear, enounciate. You sound a bit nasally too. Overall, you stayed in the right pitch, but you weren't really in tune the whole time. And your voice sounded very.. unstable. It sounded like you weren't really trying at all.

    Songofamazon - Lovely Yell
    7.5/10

Your voice sounds too pretty for this kind of this song. You were out of tune here and there, but overall it was okay. The quality was also a little bit weird for me though. It made you sound a little nasally at times. The clip sounded kind of dull as well. This kind of song is supposed to be upbeat and exciting. Although your voice was nice, you didn't seem to put much emotion. You have a lovely vibratto, a lovely voice, but it just doesn't fit this song.

    Trischan - Lovely Yell
    8.5/10

Where's the emotion? Your voice is pretty, and you stay in tune for the most part, but I'm just not feeling the emotion. At the chorus it gets a little better, but the rest seemed kind of.. boring. But I have to say your voice by itself is nice and clear, and I like it. So I'm going to give you an 8.5. Just work on singing with emotion. How can someone enjoy listening to a song when it just sounds like a robot singing?

    Tsuki-Hime - Katogoshi ni Kinsei
    6/10

It's pretty hard to sing a song like this acapella. Your voice was out of tune a lot. I couldn't really make out how the tune should go, so that's not a good sign. You sound like you're trying to sing to a song that you don't know. Your voice was very wavery, and you seemed to be unsure of what you were singing. It's always a risky thing to sing acapella, since it's always a little harder than singing with the music. So in your case, I think you should've just stuck to singing with the music.

    ----------
Haha I hate having to rate people with numbers.. it's so hard. >< So don't worry if I give you some weird rating. I'm just not really good at it. ^^; Oh and sorry to any of you if I seemed harsh or mean, I'm just a picky picky person xP

lol. I can't say I don't expect bad scores. Not my best work. Oy....I forgot about this. ^^; Honestly, for some reason my voice just isn't comfortable with PGSM songs. But hey XD! It's all for fun and fun for all! Can't wait to see more critiques.

Asahikaru – Sakura Fubuki; Good opening. Nice voice, sung fairly strongly, and with control. You cant seem to reach the highest notes that this song has very well though, so because of this a lower vocal range song might be better for you for next time. You have talent, but it’s just on those higher notes, and in finishing, that I think you need to exert a bit more control. Overall though, you have definite skill, so keep at it J 7/10.

Cassandra – Sakura Fubuki; The way you sing the words are slightly odd. Its like there is no strength to your voice at the very beginning and end of the word, but then in the middle of the word you sing it more loudly. In other words, I can’t really hear much consistency in the way you sing the actual words. I think it would be good for you to practise trying to strengthen your voice, because it sounds like you don’t have much confidence. Also, there was no real feeling in your singing. It sounded sort of flat, and I think if you were to work on this aspect, it would really improve your singing 10-fold. 5/10

Cassie – Sakura Fubuki; You definitely have a good voice, Cassie, but at times it almost seems like there is not as much control over your voice as there should be. What I mean is, I can hear that you can reach notes and maintain a good tone, but when the song goes into especially a higher note, its as if your voice lurches away from you, and the lack of control shows. Its difficult to explain, but I think if you would practise attaining notes in a more relaxed way instead of lurching up to them, this would really make your singing sound more professional. 6/10

Hitomi Blue – C’est la Vie; Good clear voice, Hitomi, nice control, if slightly weak in your voice strength. Also, its sounds like you struggle slightly to reach those pesky higher notes, and maybe this is an area you could work on more. Maybe a song with a slightly lower range would benefit your voice more. Overall though, you have a sweet clear voice that has definite potential. Just work on those high notes. 8/10

Irulanne – Sakura Fubuki; A very strong, superior voice. You reached the notes with ease and skill. Your voice control is evident, and as such this rendition of Sakura Fubuki was the better sung of the renditions, in my opinion. My only nit-pick would be the back-ground music, but only because I think you could’ve been better heard had the music been quite so loud, but still, very lovely. 9/10

Jenny – Hoshi Furu Yoake ; You have a very accomplished voice I think, Jenny, however at the start of this song it sounds as if you are out of both tune and note, but as it progresses everything seems to fall into place, and I think this is because of the range change. Yours is a voice that sounds like it’s far more capable (and comfortable with) of singing higher notes, and although your vocal range is obviously consummate, I think you would benefit more to staying with a higher-range type of song. I liked this very much though, very pleasant to listen to. 8/10

Lordofthefruitflies – Lovely Yell; I liked this entry because you weren’t afraid to really let go and sing. But this didn’t mean that there was lack of control; on the contrary, the fact that your voice was powerful didn’t detract on the whole from the quality of singing ability that you obviously have. The only problem I had with this song was that at the very points that you sang loudest, mainly at the higher notes, it was slightly too much. You could hear your voice giving out ever so slightly on the very highest notes, and I think it was easier to pick up on the fact that you were straining out the notes to some extent on those higher parts. Towards the end of the song when the notes went down an octave, it was actually a lot more pleasant as the power in your voice was turned down, and more quality of signing could be heard. Overall though, a lot of potential. Perhaps next time just slightly less power behind the voice, as I think this control could lend even more quality to your singing. 8.5/10

Neko-chan – Here we Go!; Neko-chan, you were kind of quiet! This detracted from the song overall, and if you could of only sung with more strength in your voice, this would have improved the quality, I’m sure. As it was, it seemed like you didn’t have much tonal control, or that you could comfortably reach notes and hold them. In that I mean that the words weren’t sung fully. Maybe if you sung with more strength of voice this would improve on that? Anyway, if you could sing with more buoyancy then this would help immensely. 6/10

Princesssailormoon – C’est La Vie; PSM, your version of this song sounded, in places, like you just didn’t have the will to finish the words properly. They tended to drop off without the notes being held sufficiently, and you didn’t seem to have too much control of voice, and in that I mean, whilst you could hit the high notes proficiently, it was like in parts your voice was quiet and then became loud indiscriminately, and this spoiled the song for you, I believe. For next time, if you could be stricter on yourself and sing the notes fully and stick to the tone and length that should be sung, then this would really improve the talent you have. 5/10

Songofamazon – Lovely Yell; You have a pleasant voice, you reached the notes just fine in my opinion, and I could hear that you have definite talent! One problem; please, sing louder! It’s the strength of voice thing again. Songofamazon, for next time if you could sing with more confidence, and thusly a stronger voice, this would make your singing much richer. It detracts from the talent that you do have, so for next time, put some kick into it, and this would improve you wonderfully. 7/10

Trishchan – Lovely Yell; A sweet, gentle voice Trishchan, but I think that it was slightly on the flat side. However, you could obviously hold a tune correctly, as you didn’t appear to miss any notes, and you certainly didn’t sing uncomfortably. I would say that for next time, maybe put some more feeling into your words. If this is making you think “Huh? What’s she going on about?”, maybe then instead if you sang with a bit more power, this would then improve the song, I’m sure. 7.5/10

Tsuki-Hime – Katogoshi ni Kinsei; I had to put headphones on to hear your entry! My laptop doesn’t have the best speakers in the world, but it was still too quite for me to hear clearly. You were indeed very quite I think, and whilst it wasn’t that you were out of tune, you didn’t seem able to properly sing the notes. Not much power to your voice, but you do have some skill, I could hear that much. I suggest that for next time, give it more oomph. Give more power to your voice, and this’ll do wonders. Practise control too, because with added strength of voice you will also need to be able to continue to hit the notes correctly like you did. But keep at it! 5.5/10

    Thanks for the critiques!
Honestly my voice sound like it likes high but yes judges so far are right, at a certain point on the highest note it is a gamble, a strain at times and the result is eaither a cracked note or a barely there making it one ^_^ I wanted to fix and improve, so I put my track on top of the original singers in line, and for the first note the voices sound like one voice, and couldn't find which first note is being mentioned. For a first and only take I am glad it is turning out ok ^_^ I have only been singing for 18 months. I am still trying to find out what I might be good at-
I am hoping one day there is a beginners contest ^_^
Judging is hard but just remember its all because we love PGSM and voice!

    good luck everyone!
