I met my GF at college. Online is also cool, I would travel the earth for my match. Seriously. And love, it's all good.
Hm, this reminds me of a person I met saying they had an online bf and an offline bf.
Wonder what people think of that having both online and offline signifant other.
So, remember how I started this thread? Ha... Ha ha... Ha ha ha... Guess what? Remember when I said I didn't think I would go for an online relationship? Yea. I am eating my words... And so far, I love it. We started dating in January 2012. We are still together. One of the things I enjoy about our relationship is how honest we are with each other. We try to keep it open and true. We tell each other pretty much everything. And it helps a lot that we were friends for 3 years before getting serious. He is in all honesty my best friend. I can confide in him and he won't judge me harshly. But he also tells me like it is if I am being unfair or immature and visa versa. He gives so much and asks for very little. I am very glad I decided to go for it. Yes it does get a bit depressing not being able to be with him physically but talking to him and having skype calls and webcam chats helps a lot. He lives in a different country so he is quite far away. ^^;
Thankfully he is almost done with applying for the Visa. Now we just have the waiting process. I am also trying to go over there as well. I really hope that we will still click as much as we do online.It isn't just about the physical aspect of a relationship. Connect on an emotional/intellectual level and the rest will come in time. Trust, honesty, etc. Yes it is a lot of work but in the end it is all worth it if you both want it badly enough. Just my update for you guys. XD
See, what have I always said about the Internet? It's supposed to exist for the purpose of facilitating human interaction so that your relationships with people who are far away from you will still be similar to the relationships you have with those who are near. That's why we should pay the same respect to our online acquaintances and not use the anonymity of online interactions to get away with things we wouldn't dream of doing in "real" life. And I don't care if this is old hat to some of you, if you want this soapbox, you're gonna have to snatch it from my cold, dead Kung Fu grip.
My turn for opinion~!
I am currently in an online relationship. My boyfriend Steven and I have been together almost 4 months. And honestly, I am so happy with our relationship.
I mean, I understand how difficult it is to uphold an online relationship (with the lack of physical touch and those sometimes lack of communication as well), but it is really cool that ours is still upstanding.
We talk every day and we have made the plans to see each other soon, I am so freaking excited. :3
I heavily discourage online relationships - especially with people you haven't met in person.
A friend of mine at school is in a relationship with this Australian lowlife. She's incredibly naive - intelligent, but completely absent in knowledge of the real world - and she looks/ acts like a 12-year old. Him and that dude talk over Skype - she speaks and shows her face on camera, while he always types. She's willing to ruin her life and move to Australia to be with him instead of going to college. He's also asked that she turn her camera on while she sleeps so that he can watch her sleep. I mean WHAT A CREEP. We've addressed this issue to you, but she insists that it doesn't matter because they love each other, but we've found his Facebook and deviant-art, and the things he's into are quite disturbing.
Long story shorter - her life is going to be ruined, and I have one less friend.
Online Relationships... Ugh.. Couldn't do it. I need the physical aspect of relationships.. Not just talking to a person. Now internet close friends? Sure, but a relationship kind of implies you do things together, not just talk. I don't get how a online relationship would work. o_O
