I hope I can go, even though I live in the UK. I'll probably have to get a job, and work really hard on my studies, but there's a possibility that I can go.

I'm REALLY hoping to go! I just need a job so I can cover the major expenses. Hopefully I can get one soon. As for AX Idol, DEFINITELY gonna do the VA portion if I can actually go ~ I'm pretty excited, but as the same time i'm kinda nervous since, I've never been to Cali before XD; and I got lost when I was in Boston.

I have a question: do I also need to pay for the Shuttle Service along the other expenses such as the 4-day entrance fee, hotel fee, food and drink, and round trip plane ticket to here and there or could I just ditch that and only pay for everything else I mentioned/might have missed? What is this "Shuttle Service" anyway? I'm guessing it's some sort of pickup service to and from my hotel and convention site.

Also, which hotel should I make a reservation at? I'm looking for somewhere as cheap and near the convention site as possible.

I've paid for it in the past, but quite honestly never used it. Everything is within walking distance around the LACC: Nokia, hotels. I mean, I walked to everything the past two years and it was fine. I think on the website it talks about the shuttle bus routes more in depth.

Do you know if it covers rides too and from the block hotels? Cause that's what I was thinking of getting for transportation to and from the convention.

Yikes!!! If I go to AX it'll be my first Anime convention EVER!!! If you guys got lost at a smaller one... I am probably going get more lost than I've ever been in my life (this coming from someone who uses GPS to navigate the city she's lived in since birth). Seriously.... I should exchange cell numbers with a few people I know from here who'll be there before the convention comes around. That way I can text someone to meet up and we can (hopefully NOT) get lost together XD

Also can anyone give me a rough estimate as to how much I should expect to spend on food, hotel, etc? I have a good idea what my flight's gonna be and what I'm gonna pay for registration... it's just the cost details for everything else that's a blur

I hope I can go.. Not like I can participate in AX Idol, STILL =3=.. I'd love to watch you all perform, considering I'm not stuck in pre-reg lines again Q__Q.

The AX shuttle is free if you have the pass. But, it runs from about 8 am to 8pm (or something like that, I can't remember). So if you want to stay late at cons, you'll have to take a cab or walk back to your hotel. If you stay at the Kawada, Millenium Biltmore, or Hilton Checkers, you don't really want to walk back, especially if you've been walking around ALL DAY D8. Plus, lines for the shuttle are AWFUL towards 6 and 7 (I never stayed towards 8, so I don't know how the lines are then, most likely worse).

It all depends on how long you stay. I stayed 4 days. I stayed at the Millenium Biltmore at $109 (?) a day. The cheapest was the Kawada at $89 a day. Try to find some hotel buddies to stay with so you can get a really good hotel, the JW Marriot (?) I think that was the one that was right down the street from the convention. Then you don't have to worry about the shuttle and you can stay as long as you want. (I wanted to go to the later events ;-; )

Food.. DONT EAT INSIDE THE CONVENTION!!!! Those prices were RIDICULOUS! Don't eat at your hotel either. At the Millenium Biltmore and Hilton Checkers, there were MANY food places in walking distance (2-10 minutes on foot). Starbucks was right down the street and wasn't expensive at all. There were also little restaurants around the corner and if you walked a little further, there was a Walgreens, Subway, more restaurants, a bar, etc etc etc. You can easily survive off of $100 on food.

You should also bring snacks and drinks and something to do while waiting in those looping lines =3=..

Now, if you want to purchase anything from the dealer hall.. Wait till the last day or the day before the last day. Most of the deals happen on the last day or the day before the last day. I say day before the last day too because some sellers don't go on the last day. And I said last day a lot because I'm cool. Last day.
