    I'm sure there's probably been a post similar to this somewhere, but i can't find it, so I'll just post here.

    Recently I've been really annoyed and stressed out with voice acting, so much work and effort put in and rewards are minimal (auditioned for 20 straight, got 2 projects, but one got cancelled right after casting, and the other is just really not going anywhere this century and also can't even complete my demo reel as i can't get anyone to mix it). So I am just wondering what people do with thestress of voice acting, any ways to relieve it? just seems that fruitless and unable to even start voice acting.

    I think all of us get to that point sometime. The best advice I can offer is to step away from it for a while. Even for those of us who are serious about being voice actors, this place ('this' meaning 'the boards') is primarily for *fun* - and whenever something stops being fun here, it's usually a sign that you're getting too involved emotionally and need to step back and regauge your priorities.

    I'm speaking out of experience. The moment it starts affecting your ability to enjoy what you do, you need to take a mental check-out. Sometimes people need to actually decide if this is the hobby for them.

    Also, the things you've described are not unusual. Most of the people here are doing this as a hobby too, and can quit or take as much time as they want to complete something. Ultimately, if you want something done, you really need to do it yourself, find someone you trust, or barter/pay them for their service.

    Now go have a nice lemonade and relax. :3

    I would step away but i enjoy trying to be characters a lot, but it's just the let down at the end when you see your name not on the list of even taking extra #243. I wouldn't have said it has affected my ability, it's just hitting me mentally each time it won't stop me, it just hurts a lot, i can't stop or else i wouldn't be anything, i'm nothing without voice acting. also for the mixing part for my demo reel, i am willing to pay but still no one wants to do it.

    If it makes you feel any better. It's not just VA work that gets like this.

    It pretty much happens with every field.



    I spent years going through the motions of "why the hell can't I catch a break"


    Best thing I can say is stay positive, and do some stress relieve stuff, like exercise, and eat better. You will probably feel a lot better about everything, and have much more endurance to fight the good fight.
