Wow, seriously? This just shows how IDIOTIC our government is. I mean can't you slove other major problems first? You know ones that actually effect our country? But nooooo of course not let's find the most pointless thing in the world and b***h about it cause we have nothing better to do. and your right this will kill a lot of buisness but hell forbid our congressmen actually THINK before doing something. BUUUUUUUT at the same time copy-right laws still say we can (I can't remember the exact article but I use it for my vids), there is a article saying you CAN use videos clips so long as blah, blah, blah. Contradicting isn't it? but yea pretty much it will do nothing unless you a pirate movie maker...then your gonna have problems T.T Not that you didn't already but yea.

Politics and bills and congress aren't they just great? ^.^

Copied from a blog post on DeviantArt:

The bill is just an amendment to the copyright law we all know know about. This is just a copy paste from a comment I made on one of the petitions that my friend "signed" and posted in their gallery. Not all the information in the comment may be wrong. I am in NO way bashing this petition, I am however trying to show people not to trust the views of someone ranting about a topic they may not have researched much at all.

"The copyright law they are talking about really only affects YouTube and other video streaming sites. Its pretty much saying you can't stream a video with copyrighted music/video without the permission of the copyright holder or else you could face a fine or jail time. Its not going to affect art here really. On YouTube though it will probably mean a lot of the videos will be taken down or unviewable in the USA, but when it comes down to it, the law isn't really as terrifying or bad as it may seem to be. Its pretty much been addressing the internet into the law already out there.

When you view a movie, whither old or new, at the beginning and/or very end of the movie a bit of text will pop up talking about how its illegal to copy/sell this movie without permission of copyright holder. Music has this warning as well written somewhere with in little front pamphlet saying the same exact thing. So in reality the law really is just making it so people don't violate the rights of the copyright holders, which happens all the time without any type of penalty what so ever.

While we may not like the law going into law, there's not much a petition, such as this one, will do much in stopping this law from going into circulation. Mostly due to the fact that companies loose money every time the law is violated. If you go to YouTube and look for songs on there, than its very easy to find a sight and download the song from YouTube, even from the people holding copyright claims. Also for a petition to work, you need legit information about yourself, such as a first and last name, and location. Otherwise how would they know if the person really exists or if two of the users are the same person.

Sorry if I seem a bit rude posting this, but you need to do research on a topic like this before signing a petition based upon the views by one person. You need to fully understand the issue at hand. I went to where the first person got the information and followed it to the journal that started this. It was rather misinformed and written in a enraged style, which leads to assumptions. The only thing I really think that needs to change slightly about the law is the issue of recording karaoke and having a song play on the stereo in the background of a home video. Also even then some videos have a small area where the song is mentioned and offers a link as to where to buy the song.

If you need more information on the bill being cleared up. This is a video that explains it much better than I can."

Don't worry about it, its just adding to the copyright law that already exists, so that it includes the internet.

Therefore, no one's really in that much trouble with this; it's pretty much just adding on to the copyright law that already exists! (That's right, I did my research!)
