Gran Pulse/Cocoon Mafia!
A Mafia game based on the fictional locations within the hit Video Game, Final Fantasy XIII!
Goal of the game: In Gran Pulse/Cocoon Mafia, it is basically the same as any other mafia game, but there are a few other details that distinguish it from them. You will be Private Messaged with a role that you will play in the game, and that role will either help you survive, or eliminate your chances of hope.
In Cocoon (The Town), there is a rogue faction of Pulse L‘Cie that is killing people off, one by one. Each night, they make a casualty out of one person. When the town wakes up, they must decide who is responsible for this crime, and in turn, who is the L’Cie. When the majority has reached a decision on who they believe the culprit is, they can either kill them, or they can show mercy on them and throw them back down to Gran Pulse where they belong. However, at any point in the game, the Pulse Fal’Cie may create Pulse L’Cie out of the innocent people you throw off of Cocoon, and send them back up to take vengeance on you. The game ends when either all of the Pulse L’Cie are killed/thrown off of Cocoon (Town Wins), or when the Pulse L’Cie numbers match or exceed the numbers of the townspeople (Mafia Wins). The Guardian Corps are able to heal any ONE person each turn, in an attempt to protect the Pulse L’Cie’s next target. The PSICOM units are responsible for tracking down and issuing the warrants for the Pulse L’Cie.
Translation: Every Day/Night Transition (Turn), the Mafia will be given a chance to kill one person, the Doctor will be given a chance to heal one person and the Cops will be given a chance to issue a warrant for one person. If an innocent person is accused and NOT killed, they are thrown down to Gran Pulse, where they stand the chance of returning as a part of the Mafia’s Ranks. This information, if applicable, will be the persons alone. If at any point in the game the Mafia’s numbers outrank the Townspeople, or the Mafia is killed entirely, the game ends.
The Mafia may use their Eidolon’s power and become immune from death for one turn if they so choose.
Roles:
Narrator/Rosch: Colonel Rosch is our Narrator for the game. He will notify all Cocoon Residents of the latest casualty, and also if anyone has been saved. Yaag Rosch is a PSICOM officer who graduated with results second only to his fellow trainee, Jihi Nabaat. After proving his leadership in joint missions with the Guardian Corps, his extensive battle experience earned him an early promotion to the rank of Colonel. Assigned command of the anti-L’Cie operations in Palumpolum, Rosch ignores branch rivalries when he requests Guardian Corps cooperation. His only concern is maximizing their efforts to eliminate the L’Cie.
Mafia/Pulse L’Cie: The Pulse L’Cie are the Mafia Equivalent in this game. Each turn they will have the chance to kill any player at random, unless the Doctor can save that person before it is too late. A death means elimination from the game. The beings known as fal’Cie possess the power to enthrall unwilling human instruments, compelling the victims to serve their will. These individuals, known as L’Cie, are marked with indelible brands. They gain the gift of magic, but also bear the burden of completing a task known as a Focus for their fal’Cie master. Pulse L’Cie – tools of fal’Cie from the world below— are considered dangerous enemies of Cocoon’s society. As there exists no means of removing the L’Cie brand and the curse thereby imposed, Pulse L’Cie are hunted relentlessly.
Doctors/Guardian Corps: The Guardian Corps are the Doctor equivalent in this game. Each turn they will have the chance to save any player at random. If they happen to save the same person that the Mafia kills, the Mafia’s turn is invalid and no one dies. The Guardian Corps is the branch of the Sanctum military responsible for maintaining peace and stability within Cocoon. Within their assigned jurisdictions, the soldiers of the guardian corps fulfill the role on police officers and protectors, working to eliminate all manner of criminal activity as well as rampaging wildlife. As a unit that works alongside the general population, it rarely employs heavy weaponry or cruiser class airships, However, the Corps does retain squads of highly mobile shock troops.
Cops/PSICOM: The Sanctum military is composed of two main branches: The guardian corps, responsible for maintaining security in various jurisdictions throughout Cocoon, and PSICOM – Public Security and Intelligence Command. PSICOM is an elite special operations unit charged with protecting Cocoon from Pulsian incursion. In contrast to the lightly armed Guardian Corps, PSICOM employs an array of advanced heavy weaponry and cruiser class airships, As PSICOM bears responsibility for any and all threats of Pulse origin, it was PSICOM who conducted the Purge.
We will be accepting 16 people for this battle against humanity! Join our ranks, and I will assign each of you a role to play when it grows ever closer to the Pulse L’Cie’s arrival. Remember, your role MUST BE KEPT SECRET from ALL OTHER PLAYERS for this game to work correctly.
