General Auditions
Welcome to the general auditions for My Little Musical! This two act audio production will require many dedicated voice actors and actresses to give their all!
SYNOPSIS: In the magical world of Equestria, all species have been able to coexist in peace for many years. However, when a group of adolescent dragons overstays its welcome in the tranquil town of Ponyville, the whole balance of the entire land is put into jeopardy. Can the magical Twilight, her young dragon assistant Spike, fashionista Rarity, and all of their friends calm down the turmoil? Or will war break out in Equestria for the first time in over a thousand years? And will one pony’s heart make a decision that could destroy the bonds of friendship that she and her friends have nurtured for so long?
ABOUT: My Little Musical is a romantic tragicomedy based on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The show is approximately halfway done through the writing stage, and finishing of the script and music should coincide with the ending of auditions. There will be roughly fifteen original songs written for the production, mostly falling in the same genre as songs from the animated series, with some focusing more on a rock base.
RULES FOR ACTING & SINGING AUDITIONS:
1) PLEASE: ONLY audition if you are absolutely SURE you will be able to submit work on time and deal with changes. Everything is very temperamental at the moment; songs could be cut, scenes could be rearranged, etc; we need you to work with us in order for this to be a success. This will also be an extremely long process. I know I’m asking a lot from you, but please understand that it is for the good of the production as a whole.
2) By submitting an audition, you agree to perform in whatever role you are cast as in the end. QUITTING AFTER BEING CAST IN A SHOW IS CONSIDERED EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Your name in number one of the form below is your virtual signature, and, in essence, binds you to an agreement that you will not quit the production once cast, unless you absolutely cannot remain in the show.
3) Submit auditions in mp3 format to mylittlemusical@yahoo.com . Split each numbered assignment into a separate file, and include your name/screen name and name of monologue/song in the file name (ie. “MarySue_Female_1_Rarity” would be the monologue; “MarySue_Female_2_ArtOfTheDress” would be the FiM song, etc).

FAQ:
Q: Ew, original characters!
A: I know, I know. However, original characters are needed for the plot to work and for there to be enough opportunities for the predominantly male fanbase of the show. Keep in mind that these characters are not meant to replace those from the animated series.
Q: Will there be callbacks?
A: Most likely! Unless perfect fits are found for every single character, callbacks will occur. Callbacks for certain roles will be held shortly after general auditions end. A callback list will be posted in this thread when the decision has been made.
Q: If I am not called back, does it mean that I’m not cast?
A: Absolutely not! Those who don’t get called back have as much a chance of still being in the production as those who do.
DEADLINE FOR AUDITIONS: Sunday, July 17th, 2011 at 8:59 PM Pacific (11:59 PM Eastern)
Monologues: male characters
Choose 1 monologue to record and submit.
Spike: (hopeful, naïve) It’s just… weird, y’know? I mean, I love you guys and everything, Twilight. But I’ve always had the feeling that I’m meant for something more. You’re gonna get to rule all of Equestria with Celestia when you grow up… where am I gonna go? I want to see the world! Find other dragons, and… Yeah, you’re right, I’m probably just over thinking all of this. All in my head…
Oceanmist: (regal, inspiring) Good ponies of Ponyville, let your hearts not be marred by these ill tidings. Yes, it is true that it has been many months since this fight has started in our humble town, when those barbaric beasts came in and stole what is rightfully ours. Taking half of our entire city as their own? Forcing some of you to find shelter in homes of neighbors? Yes, everypony has lent a helping hoof to someone else at one point or another. And I know many of you are tired of this ordeal. But we must keep our heads held high. Remember where we come from.
Onyx: (defiant, rebellious, commanding) Out of the way, old lizard! We're on a mission. Or are you saying that we don't have the FIRE-power to take out these colts? I know you; you’ve lost your flame a long time ago. You’re nothing but smoke now! You say we should wait? There’s no more time! Waiting has gotten us nowhere. If we choose to sit still, we’re done for. How much longer do we have to wait for them to stop treating us like dirt? How much longer do we have to wait for redemption? No, there's no time left, old man. Tonight we settle this, once and for all!
Monologues: female characters
Choose 1 or 2 monologues and record them. If you do two, please submit them in separate files.
Twilight: (encouraging, supportive) Oh, Spike. You know that you’re still just a baby dragon! You’ve got your whole life ahead of you to think about what you’re going to do. I’ve spent a great deal of time asking myself whether or not what I’m doing is really what I want to do for the rest of my life. I’m still not sure if I’m heading in the right direction. But what I do know is this; I have friends who care for me, and they want me to make the best decision I can. And guess what? They’re your friends too.
Rarity: (fawning over her customer) My, my! Darling, this outfit just looks most divine on you! Oh(!); and it’s such a perfect blend of color, form and figure… if I do say so myself. You must know that I take good care of all my customers, and that I simply do not accept anything that my customer is not satisfied with. (with growing intensity)I want you to look luxurious, I want you to look stunning, I want you to look fabulous!... I want you to look like a star!
Pinkie pie: (typical Pinkie Pie: boisterous, spastic) Oh my gosh! You just wouldn’t believe the time it took for me to get here! So much traffic! Why does everypony have to be out and about doing shopping at this time in the day?! Ugh, it took FOREVER for me to find all the stuff I needed! Balloons, streamers, streamers with balloons, balloons with streamers, fun games, board games, little fireworks, big fireworks, those fireworks that start out really big but then fizzle away- (huge intake of air) PLUS, sending an invitation to everypony who needs to show up to this thing! But never fear! With lil’ ol’ Pinkie on the job, you know that it got done right!
Fluttershy: (shy, timid, unsure) Um, well… I’m going to sit over there. If you don’t mind, that is. I mean, if you’re busy, or something… no, of course, I see how it is. I’ll just- eep! Oh no, why do I have to go and be so stupid all the time? (exhale) Deep breaths. Calm down, Fluttershy; you can do this. Can’t you? Of course you can, you’re a strong, confident mare. Aren’t you? …Oh, who am I kidding? I couldn’t even scare off a cute little bunny rabbit if I tried. (sigh) Maybe I should just go home…
Applejack: (conflicted, yet stubborn) Now listen here. I don’t really care ‘bout what’s goin’ on. Heck; I wish that everythin’d just go away. But this problem is one that’s gonna need solvin’, whether we like it or not. Now, I don’t think that fightin’ is the answer. But peace-like talkin’ ain’t fittin’ the bill either. We have ta take some kinda action; otherwise, we’ll be up a creek with no paddle, and nopony’ll be on the shores to help us.
Rainbow dash: (boastful, energetic) Wow, did you see that? Man, I must’ve made that pass in ten seconds flat! Of course, that’s not like it’s a stretch for the amazing Rainbow Dash! Best flyer in Ponyville! I mean, come on; if anypony wants to be half as great as the Wonderbolts, they need to be half as mindblowingly AWESOME as me. So, sorry, little colts and fillies, but this rocket’s gonna be soarin’ past all of ya! Catch ya later!
