    A.R.M.S [Halo: Reach Machinima]

Hiya there! My name is Deadly920 - I'm an aspiring director and, like many others, I'm in need of certain voice actors. This is my first time on VAA, so I apologize for creating yet another Halo: Reach Machinima topic. These are quite popular among Youtube, so I wasn't surprised at the amount I found here. To tell the truth, I'm a complete newbie to directing. I mean, I write loads of creative roleplaying stuff but directing is pretty different. I'd really like some help with this first project, so that's why I was asking you guys if any of you wonderful actors could possibly voice some characters for me.

    *Characters*

If you're interested in the story and want to help voice act, feel free to apply for any (or all) of the [OPEN] characters. Information, such as character background, character personality, age and vocal range are supplied below. My contact info is supplied here, too. Seeing as this is similar to the Voice Actors paragraph below, I'll cut this paragraph short. Thanks for reading this far and considering to help out with "A.R.M.S"!

Bear [Male] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch - Low; Age - Thirty-Eight [38] Bear's built like a tank - and he's the kindest spartan you'll ever meet. Unlike Esther, who expresses a deep hate for the Covenant and a desire to slaughter them all, Bear will politely warn an enemy before using any extreme measures against them, which in Bear's case is just about anything violent. He's a pacifist whenever he can find a safe solution and avoid battle which is his greatest disadvantage. Outside of battle, he is very kind-natured and owns his own A.R.M, an 'Artificial Robotic Multipurpose System'. Bear's ARM is called Audra, which November likes to say 'It stands for Annoyingly Useless D***-head Retard AI'. Audra really is just that, and a crack in her voice chip means she can only speak in extremely high voices. It tends to add to the annoying factor. Bears actual voice would be very gruff, but retain a sense of warmth and friendliness. If you're a guy, this character is a must to try out for please, as he is one of the main characters. If you're a girl, please opt to go for November for similar reasons!

[Serious]: "Don't go - Esther can handle this."
[Amused]: "I am known to be a man of my word, eh?"
    [Panicked]: "Move - Move now!"

November [Female] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch - Low to Mid; Age - Twenty-One [21] November - can be shortened to Nova, short for 'Super-Nova'. Meaning explosion. Meaning, November is somebody you do not want to f*** with. Being a rowdy red-head doesn't exactly help if you have a compulsive lust for swearing and a tendency to beat somebody's face in if they start smack-talking. In short, you'll be voicing for this badass kinda character, accompanied by three other convicts - the smack-mouth Esther, the psychotic, silent girl named Elle and Bear. Because Bear just doesn't believe in violence. At all. Yet has to tag along with probably the most violent girl on the planet, at this point. You. Nova's voice is quite woman-like, but deep. She's not one of those 'butchy' type girls, she still sounds recognizable as a woman and not some wierd gruff high-pitched guy, she's just loud. Friendly, but easily angry and loud.

[Agitated]: "Well, it won't be so fun with my boot knee-high up your ass!"
[Happy]: "Well, who's up for drinks? On me."
[Shocked]: "There's nothing... we can do?"

Sara [Female] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch - Mid to High; Age - N/A [A.R.M] Sara - she looks like an ordinary spartan, she talks and even feels emotion like an ordinary spartan, but in actual fact, Sara is a robot. An ARM, to be more precise. However, Elliot (one of the youngest, smartest minds of the Office of Naval Intelligence) has constructed an ARM so powerful, so smart it can feel emotion, so much so it has artificial intelligence, that he can't simply make it an orb. So, he takes several varients of MJORLNIR class armour, and... creates Sara. Sara also has a very interesting reason for being constructed, and will find her own origins quite confusing. Although, I'm not saying more. You'll be voicing for this really smart but loyal character, accompanied by Elliot, whom she loves dearly and will do anything to protect. A slightly monotonous voice, but nothing too drastic would be greatly appreciated! Voice filters or effects aren't needed.

[Beaming]: "Thank-you, for complimenting Master Elliot."
[Monotonous]: "Scans indicate multiple enemy pings inbound on our position."
[Worried]: "Master... Where are you, Master Elliot?!"

Danielle [Female] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch - High; Age - Fifteen [15] At first glance, Danielle seems to be one of the many poor and homeless children littered about Elosys - one of the major capitals, popular for a full human population and zero alien sightings. The darkest aspect of Dani is probably her past. Although, she was adopted (oh, the cliché-ness of it all!), I'm not going to say more. It may be upsetting to some sensitive people, maybe even you as this character is essentially going to be a part of you, but later in the Machinima, we'll be dealing with the consequences of the rape of a child. Erm, some quite dark stuff there. At present, Dani is a cutsey fifteen year old, but a very serious one at that. She permanantly sounds like she has a cough, and takes matters very seriously, usually crying at times she is on her own. She barely scraped by, living off of the little food she could recieve from strangers, but it all seemed to change on that one day. On that day she found something life-changing. She found an ARM. 7'4" and clad in Grenadiar class armour (although the casing on his right arm is missing), Odin-0101 is Dani's guardian. His sole purpose is to protect this child; and you wouldn't want to mess with 700 lb of steel in your face. Dani is a dark and serious twelve year old, struggling in the life of adulthood. She can prove herself useful, but is very shy and would probably prefer not to have to fight at all if there was means of talking or settling on an agreement.

[Relaxed]: "Look at the beautiful sunset, Odin..."
[Demanding]: "Wha- What do you mean he's not here?!"
[Screaming]: "Help! He's covered in... blood!"

Captain Lawrence [Male] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch Mid; Age - Twenty-Four [24] If possible, I'd like you to act the part of a captain on the Elosys squad fighting over the base. He's named Captain Lawrence, and he is this real compassionate, understanding captain. He's had a very extensive history with November, but there's more to that when that comes around. For now, he's the lovey-dovey captain on the Elosys side, a bit weary of war and wishing he didn't have the burden of more men on his shoulders. Do you think you could voice him? There's a cookie in it for you if you do! His voice is Mid-ranged, he's not too gruff, his not even that high-pitched, he's just compassionate to his men and that warmth reflects in his vocal strength.

[Depressed]: "I don't want to be held accountable for mistakes I've made..."
    [Bouncy]: "Hey, Cub, what's shaking?"
[Serious]: "C'mon, we've got to make a move some time.

Brigadier Johnson [Male] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch Low to Mid; Age - Thirty [30] Did somebody call for an explosives specialist? Oh dear. Johnson is some kind of crazy. He's a brigadier all right, but it's almost scary the way he snaps from being a bomb-lobbing, adrenaline pumping maniac to a super-serious, gruff military leader. This guy is pretty legendary. He's seen his share of wars... all eleven of them. He's a bit weary, but you'd not be able to tell because the only way to get through the guy is through a cluster of explosives. Mhm. You do not want to go that way. Unless you wanted to end up as various bloody gibs. If so, objective completed! His vocal range is deep, the kind of thing you'd expect for a military leader, but there's a certain eccentricity to his voice. If deep doesn't cut it for you, feel free to switch to a Mid sounding pitch.

[Pumped]: "WHEW! Take THAT, you butt-ugly bast*rds!"
[Ordering]: "Hey! Get back here! NOW!"
[Sombre]: "Maybe... we shouldn't be the ones doing this crap-work."

Major Dunpkov [Male] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch Low; Age - Thirty-Three [33] This character is the ethnic Major of Aegis Squad. He always seems to be in a foul mood and is easily unimpressed by his peers actions. He figuired he'd try going in all-guns-blazing, all-the-time. Well, it works well for him especially. With raw muscle power and an insane damage threshold, it'd be suicide to go up against this guy lone wolf style. Originally, this character was sketched to be Russian, but the previous voice actor had problems so we tried something slovakian (Dagh!), such as Heavy from Team Fortress 2. It seemed to work better, but the actor decided it'd be better to find somebody else. Well, guys? Any takers?

[Gruff]: "No, I think naht. Let me take this call."
    [Laughing]: "Ahahaha - run, babies!"
[Saddened]: "He vas... and always vill be... a good soldier."

General Hanes [Female] [OPEN] Vocal Range/Pitch Mid; Age - Twenty-Five [25] What, you thought Hanes was only a Guys name? Jeez, you sexist bunch! General Hanes, acclaimed war-hero and victor of many battles. She's been in every fight she's heard of and came out on top - she's practically on par with Johnson, especially seeing as she starred in all of the eleven wars the Brigadier on Elosys squad was. This character is the strong Aegis leader, so typically needs a strong female voice actor. Somebody with a powerful voice would be appreciated. Note that I said powerful and not deep. If you could get this blend right it'd be perfect!

[Smexy]: "Sorry, hun, but you figured your ol' general would have testicles?"
[Ordering]: "You have to make it back to the point within two hours - can you make it?"
[Laughing]: "These little blighters don't stand a freaking chance in hell!"

    *Back-Story*

A.R.M.S, 'Artificial Robotic Multipurpose Systems', are personal intelligence droids that have become increasingly prevelant in our modern day technological society. This particuar story follows a group of convicts - in particular, one person and thier revenge against society. Her name is Elle, and she was born and raised in a Church situated in a small country-side village a few clicks from Aegis; the biggest covenant-free city in existance. Along with three other criminals, Esther, Bear and November, Elle is on a path to exact her revenge against the people who framed her and destroyed the remains of her life, whilst hearing out her other escapees.

Although, it's not nearly as easy as it seems.

Elliot is Oni's own brightest young mind. Only ninteen, yet he can still solve any and all cases pushed against him. Oni owe much of thier sucess to him, and to his A.R.M, Sara. After hearing about an escape from Elosys vault, the seemingly 'impregnable' prison block, he decides to hire two nearby freelancers to track down the prisoners and see them to justice. "Sparrow" and "Crow", a pair infamously known in the underground criminal world for always completing the given task to an overly high standard. For an overly high price.

Meanwhile, akin to the Oni Naval Institution, the Aegis Military Police Force are settling a rivalry with the Elosys Military Police Force - fighting to claim ownership over two bases right on the border of the two major cities. The Elosys side have been one man down for too long, recently, and have called in a Brigadier to even things up a little. Thing is, the Brigadier is a bit too explosion-friendly. Looks like both the Aegis and Elosys sides will be here a while.

And on top of all this, a squadron of four Sanghelli manage to wade thier way onto this planet, and are equally amazed at the humans they find (seeing as they have never encountered a single human being).

    Enough information for you? :3

My goal? I want this to be a serious, psychological machinima exploring the value of human life and technological advancment. I want to go for something big, and have people go, "I never thought about that subject in this light before,". This isn't going to be another run-of-the-mill machinima. I genuinely want to make something mind-blowing, and really psych people out. True, I may be reaching too far into this project, especially considering how this is my first project, but I truly think with the story I've written and the characters (I need people to help bring these to life) we could achieve this goal.

    *Voice Actors*

I've actually started on the Voice Actors front, before registering to VAA. I was missing a few characters, however, and after a friend mentioned how sucessful this forum was, naturally I decided to join up. Most of the main character slots have been filled up with "concrete" actors, people I'm sure I'd never need to replace. That being said, if all the characters are filled up, please feel free to send in your demo or voice reel as I'm also in need of an indespensable source of extras! I don't always want to use the actors on hand, I like to keep things fresh. I'll post some extra lines for you people who'd like a shot at this but don't particularly want the responsibility of checking in all the time on deadline with a main character. These listed are just the current amount of main characters I have - although this is probably not all of the ones I want to write in. This list may be edited, so check back often!

If you feel like submitting something, please submit it to Deadly920@hotmail.co.uk. This is my personal email adress and I check this occasionaly. Feel free to send me a PM here over PAA, or possibly at my Youtube account Deadly920. *Extras*

Sorry! I forgot the Extras lines! I'll throw in a couple that are actually found within some of the scripts already written. Go ahead and try out for any of these lines with any combination of Low, Mid or High pitches. After all, these are only extras, so go ahead an experiment. There is no 'Male' or 'Female' category, as these are just extras. Apply for any or all of them, if you wish! If you want to voice but, for any reason such as you don't want to be a main character or all the spaces are filled, then choose a couple of lines here that interest you and just voice them. After voicing, send them to me through the Contact Info above. Thanks, and have fun! ~Deadly920

[Worried]: "Captain, we got to pick you up now or you're gonna get creamed!"
    [Agreement]: "Sure thing, Cap'n."
[Nodding]: "Yeah, you look beat man. Well, keep care of yourself!"
    [Coughing]: "Queer."
[Disgusted]: "Hey, Grandpa, get your military ass out."
[Smirking]: "That's right, grandpa, get outta here!"
[Spitting]: "Oh, how much ya got?"
[Vicious Sarcasm]: "We got an S-rank... and more than one?! Sh*t... this is our lucky break, Cap'n..."
[Cynical]: "I'd go with the latter, sir..."
    [Yelling]: "HEY! Shoot 'em back!"
    [Outraged]: "Wh- What killed him?!"
[Shrugging]: "Whatever. Not our job to stand around the dead. They died doing thier job, and that's all that matters."

Is there a deadline for these auditions? I couldn't find one, but then, I could just be zoning out...

Erm, quite frankly, I don't see a point in setting a deadline for a project I have all the time in the world to do. We've not started, so why should we have to start hastily? No, is the answer to your question. There is no deadline. If you're interested, feel free to post your audition any time it suits you. Thanks for reading.

You are really shooting yourself in the foot for saying that...

A lot of VAs do not audition for projects if there are no deadline. It makes it seem like you're not dedicated to your project, nor does it show any guarantee that there will be progress made.

Really? The concern is appreciated, but I still don't find there to be any point in setting a deadline, mainly because I haven't started filming as of yet. My hardware is being faulty, but I'm fixing it. The moment I start filming again and getting a general idea of when I want to put an episode out, yes, I will put a deadline. I'm not even sure why people won't audition if there is no deadline, it's kind of silly and pointless to me, to miss out on a project simply because they weren't sure it'd lift off the ground. I'd take the chance - otherwise, I'd be kicking myself later for missing the oppotunity.

I can't change anyone's opinion wether or not they think progress will be made, but I can certainly assure myself progress will be made. I've been writing since September last year, and I've been speaking to other directors on this, I will not let all the time spent on the scripts, the characters, the plot, I do not want any of that to fall to ruin. I'm very dedicated to my cause, but it's up to the voice actors to decide wether or not they will do so too.

Again, thanks for the concern. I appreciate it, it shows that a lot of people don't just read this topic but generally have views on it.
