Do you ever try out/want to tryout for a fandub but, no matter how many times you record, you can't find that perfect voice? Like...you can't imagine the character's voice like that? Or is it just me? >.<

I see so many fandubs I want to try out for, but I am fairly new, so I don't have many different voice types. And when I try to record, it just doesn't seem to fit the character, and I keep recording, but it never works out. I am fairly young, so that might be the problem, but am I the only who feels that way?

    Just wondering. >.<

Oh, you may never be fully comfortable with your voice. I'd rather send in my best take (as long as I believe it would have a shot, don't do this for characters that are out of your range completely) and ask for a critique, if they're offering them, because then you'll know just how close you were. Second opinions are always better than your own!

Nobody has a perfect golden voice. Alot of times we come across roles that interest us but we aren't quite sure if we have the stuff to voice em. To add on to what has already been said, if you have anyone you know who is familiar with a character you cans end them your recordings first if the producer is not dishing out critiques.

Another way to test yourself is to practice in projects of your own design with different character types, to test yourself and to get critiques by some of your fellow VA members.

As Haruhost says, maybe put together some small clips so that you can practice voices and ranges. To be honest, I have that exact issue with my voice but I have auditioned for things and been surprised at the results. Sometimes, people have different ideas on a particular voice for a character and a new take might be a breath of fresh air. You'll never be 100% happy with your own performance [However, if you ever are then fantastic!] so just practice and take chances.

Heh I get that feeling too :T. Like AmyAnn said, we're usually never fully satisfied with our voices. There's really not much else you can do except keep playing around with things and practicing so in the future you'll be able to come up with something you like.

On the other hand, you might just want to send in what you think are your best takes so far anyway. Get those opinions from different people so you can see things in various perspectives, which can be *very* helpful when working things out!

There's nothing like losing your dignity when crafting a voice. Stay with it, you just might find out you have a knack you didn't realise. I don't 'like' my voice either, it's why I enjoy changing it -_-
