I was with the story since 11pm MST for me e-e
It's a sad, and scary.

According to the news, the death toll has risen to 200 [possibly 300] due to drowned bodies being found.
200-300 bodies found on coast, 100 people in ship swept away

I hope that the families of those lost will be able to recover from this horrible tragedy. It's so awful to see a place get hit so hard by a natural disaster like that. On the somewhat bright side, at least the economy there is much better than it is in Haiti, so they'll be able to recover a little better. But still. Damn awful, my heart goes out to them.
I'm terrified to hear of any deaths involving the abroad-study students from my campus who left only two days ago for Japan. I know they left a FB message about 9 hours ago saying they arrived safely, but after that there hasn't been anything. Three of the students were friends of mine and already I had bad feelings about them leaving...
Two nuclear plants in japan are on alert and might blow up due to the latest aftershocks...
Some of the stories about the families suffering there due to this are horrid. I'm really glad the people I know there are okay, and I'm hoping somehow they can recover from this. They have better resources, but with everything in chaos it could be a while before they can figure out how much damage was made and get everything under control. Thankfully the Japanese seem to be very good with organization. Hopefully they'll have everything somewhat settled soon.
