‘Tis the day in February when hearts ignore the biting cold,
Racing in anticipation and joy at the thoughts of offers bold,
With cards and chocolates and gifts galore as emotions are bared,
Or with bitter and humorous denial to those who dare not bear it,

Known to most as the day of Saint Valentine,
Or to others a SAD day,
As couples and lovers walk merrily with heart in hand,
As the loud brass bands play passing by loners, who on a pancake lay.
It does not matter, ‘tis only another day.
