I shoulda worded that differently lol (that's what I get for watching monty python at the same time as typing in the forum haha).
But yeah, I think what they're TRYING to do is kind of a good idea in terms of trying to find new, fresh, and great talent. But if they try to take the primetime TV route (I honestly don't think this would be put on local, non-cable or satelite channels, but I could be wrong), they'll probably put more money into overproducing the show for an audience that is less than the average reality show fanbase. I think competitions like this with prizes and all is great (I love watching auditions and final rounds of AX Idol and I didn't even participate in it), but they would be trying to put too much effort and production in a show that they have no idea if it will be well received or not if they try to make this bigger than it really is.
"Kyle... Cailtin please step forward"
*tension music sets in*
"in a few moments one of you will be eliminated from being Voice actor supreme."
"Kyle...i'll start with you. Your voice in the dub in the challenge was too dull and lack luster and sometimes it seems you don't want to be here"
"Caitlin...Often times your voice just wonders in the wind and I don't get a sense that you are playing the character right."
"I'm sorry...."
*commercial break*
"i'm sorry caitlin...you just didn't make the cut."
*caitlin cries as the depressing music sets in*
"thank you, i'll never forget my time here"
*caitlin leaves, and later in an interview*
"I loved my expierence here in voice acting hope to see it through even if i didnt win the grand prize"
*sad music till fade out*
*credits*

That goes against the popularity for America's Got Talent which premiered in 2006 and is still going. Dancing with the stars (unfortunately) is popular as ever. Not defending, just stating facts here. It seems like there's a new reality TV talent competition every year. The X factor with Simon cowell is premiering in september, TBS is going launch a Karaoke reality series to be aired this year most likely also.
You can add these new VO series to the heap, we'll just have to see if there's an audience for it. Even if they just commit themselves to 8 episode series, if the ratings blow for the first...it might not last 1 more.
